ENVY of HP TouchSmart m6-k012dx Sleekbook Wifi card white

Hello

I'm dissatisfied with the performance of the card wifi Ralink which came with this laptop and would like to upgrade. I have not been able to find a list of cards that are compatible anywhere and prefer not to waste money on a trial and error approach. Someone has access to a white list for this laptop model that they could post here? Alternatively the upgrade of the wifi card success stories could also be useful.

Thank you

Hello

There are only two listed wireless cards:

http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c03935332.PDF

See page 27. However, the new HP TS 15 etc. should not have the white list. I would like to try one of the Qualcomm or Broadcom 2 x 2 or cards wireless AC.

    Hello

I'm looking for the update to the newest bios FRO HP Envy TouchSmart 4 - 1203ea Sleekbook

I searched the site of HP and used the HP tool but can not find one - HP site suggests, I therefore have the most recent bios. The bios when I look at msinfo32.exe shows Date of Version of the BIOS: Insyde F.21 14/11/2012

I bought the laptop over a year ago (sometime in 2013)

I upgraded the laptop to windows 8 for windows 8.1

It has 16 GB of DDR3 RAM

Samsung 850 PRO 1 TB SSD

    Intel AC 802.11 wireless card

    Haswell i5 processor (4th generation)

All the drivers are up to date on the manufacturers Web sites

All the updates of windows installed

Anti-virus and Anti-malware scans have been completed and everything is clean

I cleaned the fan and cleaned the vents

I disabled the fan options in the bios so that they are not always on. I also tried with fan always on.

The fan is constantly on - according to CUPID Hardware Monitor PRO:

temperatures are 63-68 degrees C on each core

temperature of SSD is 40-41 degrees c

    curernt voltage is 15.93V

    I don't think it's hot particularyl?

Would you recommend using Paste artic silver 5 on this laptop for the CPU and the GPU?

I read a few posts on the use of a Gummy cpu / gpu paste, it seems that the general consensus is that this is necessary if the GPU or CPU is slightly raised.

Also is it worth of replacement of pads with copper trim and adding the thermal paste after?

I have worked in it for years and have built several computers desktop and have repaired many laptops, but would like to chcek if there is nothing else I can do before you buy a block of cooling?

I usually use the laptop on my desk at home or at work.

I also read a few messages to the topic to make additional holes in the case of the laptop then adding mesh to avoid that the dust is does anyone have experience with this?

There are positions on the amendment of the fan to improve the airflow by cutting some of the envelope of the fan?

There are fans of spare parts for laptops which are quieter or cooler?

I appreciate there is a lot of questions here and any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    James88

Then... the results! Temperatures plummeted to 8-9 degrees indle and at the charge!

They cut to be in the 50s and 60 for 40 years and 50 years

I stripped the laptop and applied new thermal paste to the CPU. Be careful when you remove the 4 screws that hold the processor, they may be a bich to go out, make sure you use the right size screwdriver and not screw them (make sure you have a spare room if you are new in this and other tools)

My choice is the block thermal artic silver 5, which is about £5 online on most Web sites. I have used this on several laptops and desktops from the front to reduce the temperature.

I also applied bit of electrical tape from the fan to the vent thingy (not sure what the correct name for this what) that connects the fan and the heat pipe set, I managed to reduce the tempearate of about 8-9 degrees. Normalling running under 45 degrees. The fan is now very very quiet too!

I also discovered that the CPU is soldered to the motherboard (as I predicted). So the only way to upgrade would be to get a new Board of Directors, which corresponds to the laptop, with the specifications I and not being not a player, I don't think I'm going to need an upgrade for a while yet.

Any questions, feel free to ask me! :-)

  • TouchSmart N090sa 15: N090sa Wifi card upgrade

I have a Touchsmart 15 N090sa and I was wondering if in the bios, there was a list of wireless card white I want to upgrade a newer version, as if there is a whitelist which would limit the options for many.

You are not hampered by a white list, to the best of our ability to discern. HP has never published an accurate list of the models that have no list white and the best, it can be thought of feedback from users, is that any laptop made after January 1, 2014 is passed the white list but not guaranteed. The upgrade is relatively easy, because your model has an access on the lower panel that contains the wifi card. This will allow you to easily check if you have a 1 antenna or 2. If you have 1 upgrade becomes a much bigger and it's probably a show-stopper.

See p. 49 of the manual here:

    Manual

Since you have the AMD processor that I'd stay away from Intel wireless cards and recommends that it:

  • HP ZBook G2: WiFi-card white

    Hi guys,.

Can you guys tell me if there is a white list of WiFi-card in the BIOS of the ZBook G2?

    Daan

    Hello:

This info is not available to the public.

I have a G1 350 HP business notebook and I was able to change the wlan for one card are not not in the maintenance manual and it works beautifully.  Replaced a broadcom dual band for an Intel 7260 model so I could use Intel WiDi.

I have to assume that HP has withdrawn approval of BIOS of all cell phones in the last 18 months or so, because dozens of members of the forum have exchanged maps wireless in various laptop models made in this period of time without any problem.

The only time where someone will have a problem, is if they try to put a wireless card Intel in a laptop with an AMD processor and chipset.

BIOS do not reject the card, but it won't work for some reason any.

  • wrong display resolution ENVY of HP TouchSmart m6-k125dx Sleekbook

I just got a refurbished TouchSmart HP ENVY m6-k125dx Sleekbook. I can't put a 1366 x 768 resolution, but according to specifications, the native resolution is 1920 x 1080. I updated the graphic driver Intel HD and BIOS, but that did not help. Don't have HP possibly reinstall display incorrectly as part of the renovation?

    Hello:

Yes, it is very possible events.

There are 3 display panels that can be used in the m6 series according to the maintenance manual, one of them having the resolution of 1366 x 768 is the production of your laptop.

    See Chapter 1, page 1.

I suggest you contact the vendor that you bought the laptop from, or HP (if you got it directly from HP) and see what repair can be made.

Hi I got one of the TouchSmart from HP ENVY 14-k029tx Sleekbook machine, and I want to ask that can additional hard disk Sata or SSD to be added to the existing 128 GB SSD and if so how and what model of HARD drive I can get for it.

I contacted HP support in pakistan for him, but it seems that they have no idea about it.

your answer will be highly appreciated.

    Kind regards.

Hello Bastami, welcome to the Forums of HP.

Looking into your question if you can use a second SSD or HDD, I find you can not as internal hard drive. You would have to do with and external if you want to have more then one drive connected to your laptop.

I hope that answers the question that you have.
Thanks for posting on the forums of HP.

The problem is universal, but not on the HP PC.

I want to know if my hp Pavilion has a white list the card wifi and I have shearched all on internet but I did not found any information about this then I would be happy if anyone knows if my laptop has one, or if I could install a?

    Hello:

There do seem to be blocking BIOS more in order to avoid to install another wireless card.

But just as bad, you will find on many HP laptops with single band card, only a wireless antenna is present.

Unless you're ready to take the laptop share everything, including the area of display panel to run an antenna 2, you will not be able to upgrade the current map, because maps dual band require usually two wireless antennas.

Then... you will have to physically inspect the current map and see if there is one or 2 antennas are and decide for yourself what you want to do next.

Now, I've heard about some of the new laptops, HP began to install a second antenna and leaving that it disconnected, if it is equipped with a single band with a single terminal card.

Do not rely on the photos in the service manual to determine if your laptop has 2 antennas.

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I understand that you are looking to downgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 on your laptop, and I'd be happy to guide you to a resolution!

Given that the support available for your system drivers are only supported for Windows 8.1, I would personally recommend not downgrade your system to an earlier operating system.

    I hope this helps!

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the Forums of HP, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that your HP ENVY 23se-d394 TouchSmart all-in-One desktop PC loses the WiFi connection since the update to Windows 8.1. I would like to examine and use the HP support document: troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8), to identify and resolve your WiFi connection problem.

If the document that I provided above does not only resolve your problem, please follow the steps, I listed below:

Step 1. The type of tile Menu "device manager."

Step 1. Click on Device Manager
Step 2. Click on network adapters
Step 3. Right click on the WiFi adapter for the pc and left click on properties
Step 4. Click on power up
Step 5. Remove the check mark beside: ALLOW the COMPUTER TO TURN THIS DEVICE SAVE START STOP
    Step 6. Click OK
Step 7. Close the Device Manager

NOTE: There may also be checked under the CONTROLLER FAMILY (for example. Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller which would belong to the title of the WiFi card). If so, you can remove the check mark next to ALLOW the COMPUTER TO TURN this DEVICE FOR SAVE OFF

If the problem persists after the above please re-post with the number of your product to your computer. I'm a link a HP Support document below that will show you how to find the number for your product. Because with that I can give you accurate information.

How can I find my model number or product number?

So if you could describe where your router that would be useful as well.

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a wonderful day!

  • HP ENVY laptop - 13-d045tu: BCM43142 change on Envy 13 wifi card

    Combination 792608-005 BCM43142 of Broadcom 802.11 wireless network adapter b/g/n 1 x 1 Wi - Fi and BluteTooth 4.0 m2

There is problem of BOUNCING on Windows 10 wifi connectivity so I change to another card and at the same time offering an AC 5 GHz connectivity.

One of the options I'm considering is Intel AC 7265 (HP part no 793840-005) that comes standard in the variant of other Envy 13 sold elsewhere.

Newer that I am wanting to NGFF Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 (8260NGW)is another model.

Can anyone tell if there are fears white list on the question if these cards above would work on my laptop?

Should I get the AC7265, I get the part specific HP itself or the Intel will do?

    Thanks in advance guys!

    Hugo

You can safely assume that any HP laptop with a 4th generation Intel Core processor or newer has no whitelist wireless and yours is 6th generation if you are safely beyond the question of the white list. However, the real problem comes another question HP Wireless: the single antenna module, which is now installed in most HP laptops. Most of the 1 x 1 b/g/n modules have only a single antenna that makes it impossible to get to something that works in the 5 GHz band.

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

See p. 31. The manual shows 2 antennas and I hope that's right but the only way to be sure is to open and just look. If you see a single antenna wireless, I shut up and look for a usb dongle that is compatible with 802.11ac. Or prepare for a complete teardown add a second antenna.

The AC 7265 is good enough, if you have two antennas to support.

You also might as well get the variant of HP that HP has a big enough market share that are still lacking these autour and they do not cost more:

  • Envy 15-j104el: updated NETWORK WiFi card and RAM update

    Goodmorning to everyone

I write this post to ask for information on the possibility to do an upgrade of hardware on my HP Envy 15-j104elsystem.

    That's what I would do:

-Replace the network card (NIC) to a wireless better and possibly with a compatible AC NIC.

-Update to 16 GB of ram, put benches with CL9 SODIMM

The questions that I want to bring to your attention are:

-There is a 'white list' for the wifi card on my BIOS (actually F66)?
(consultation with the service manual there are little NIC OEM selled, y at - it ONLY compatible?)

-Put the sticks of ram CL9 (instead of CL11 currently OEM mounted), I can inprove the overall performance?

    I want to install are:

    -Intel Wireless-AC 7260 more Bluethoot HMC 4.0

    -Kingston HyperX Impact DDR3L 16 GB (2x8gb) SODIMM 1600 Mhz CL9 (Kit)

According to your experiences, is it compatible? I can buy them without any problem?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. Thanks for your suggestions

In particular, I take this opportunity to greet and also need the help of my friend @visruth ;)

    1. no whitelist. Your laptop was conducted after HP stopped using a white list so that you can install any card with the right form factor and the number of antennas. The Intel 7260 card should work.

    2. you can install the CL9 memory but it will not do anything all run faster. The motherboard is made to operate at the speed of the OEM memory so the Kingston Hyper-X will work, but the specifications of it in operation will be the same as memory OEM.
