  Hold on! Have you tried to boot from the recovery DVD or have you tried to boot under Windows OS?

  Hi, I have a Toshiba Equium A60 - 173 running Windows XP.

  I just tried to update the BIOS and everything was fine until it stops and does not turn on. I waited and waited and then it turned on myself.   OK, so my father, I bought a laptop a few years and now it has forwarded to me. I am wanting to turn off tapping it on the button, but I can't find an option to do so.
  I installed a new copy of Windows XP Pro, so there may be some missing drivers that come on the recovery CD.
  I tried to find all the drivers, but I can't find my notebook anywhere. I ran the Toshiba program that is supposed to detect what laptop you have, but it came with nothing when I ran it and I also searched in the drivers on the Toshiba site section, but my laptop does not even appear in the choice of laptops.

  The only way to get your A60 comes back to its factory condition is to have a set of a Service partner chartered Toshiba recovery disks. In addition, you will need to back up your I-Tunes (by copying them to an external hard drive if you have one, or else by copying them to a CD/DVD flammable).

  Note that the system from the recovery CD restore will erase the contents of your hard drive and you will find while the latest updates Microsoft etc. will be missing. You can doenload the Microsoft Update site.

  Personally, I would recommend just clean your system of unwanted content. The simplest approach would be to run a utility like CCLEANER (Google to do this, it's freeware). Then run a full scan of the system (from your existing package of anti-virus) and finally run an adware scan using Ad-Aware and SpyBot (Google for these, they are both freeware).

  Finally, go to the Add/REMOVE software control panel section and remove any what spftware/applications you don't want.

  Run a system utilities disk defrag tool and the work is done. Your A60 should be as good as new but with all the latest Microsoft Updates always applied.

Now, whenever I turn it on, the power light comes on for a few seconds, there is nothing on the screen and then it turns off again. I'm really worried, I've done some serious damage. I know a bit of the BIOS, but not that much. I need help, this is how I put a BIOS on here if I can't turn it on and the current one is damaged. Is it possible to get the loaded BIOS on without being able to turn it on?

  You could try to remove the battery, wait 2 minutes and then go back, however he only its not very likely that your BIOS update was not successful. If I remember correctly when I flashed my A60-181 this process takes about 10 minutes. If your laptop prematurely reloaded until the program has finished, I'm afraid you have no choice but to send new to Toshiba to be fixed.
