Equivalent of greprefs/all.js in Firefox 6.0

In the previous version (3.x) of Firefox, there was formerly all.js file in the greprefs file. This file is used to control the many options of Firefox.

I do not see the same in the latest version (6.0).

What is the equivalent file in version 6.0 of Firefox?

It is now greprefs.js in omni.jar

resource:///greprefs.js

  • How to close the instance of Firefox launched via file/new window without killing all instances of Firefox?

Before the last update Firefox, running on Ubuntu if it makes a difference, I was able to select close on the file menu (and if memory is also by clicking the x on the last tab) to exit an instance of Firefox open via file new window.

With the 9.x update this no longer seems to be possible. If I choose the file altogether starting an instance that was launched via the new window, all instances of Firefox away!

It's embarrassing because I have to leave all the instances that have been launched.

I tried closing last tab add on, and it allows me to close the last tab content but still leaves the instance running with a blank tab.

Is there a setting somewhere that I missed to restore the operating mode to exit the additional instances of Firefox without killing all the previous configuration?

    Thank you
    Burt

Each window must have its own close button (big X in the right corner.)
But it depends on the 'Theme' that you use in Ubuntu. This large X chould be a round point when you hover over the color changes. It could be on the left instead of the right site.
This screenshot shows the close the left side, but always an X button.

CTRL + SHIFT + W closed the window Active.
CTRL + W closes the current tab.

  • I can't not all sounds with Firefox, but I have a sound with Internet Explorer

I'm not all sounds with Firefox. I have a sound with Internet Explorer

    Hi bholmes,.

Have you looked at the article Knowledge Base, what to do if Firefox will play all of the sounds? There are many good advice on troubleshooting in there. You might have its just accidentally disabled for Firefox.

There is also a chance it's a plugin problem. If the first article does not help, take a look at common audio problems and graphics issues.

    Hope this helps!

  • lost all bookmarks with Firefox 34.05 was last updated

My favorites have been fine for years. And I have a lot. Now they are ALL gone!

After that I've upgraded to the latest 34.0.5 Firefox, the bookmarks bar is empty and is so the list of dates of Firefox updates have been applied. Where they go, why is Firefox is no longer showing them and how can I get back them?

With the enormous problems that FIrefox has continually to provide updates that work actually, it seems that Firefox cruelly an option "back out upgrade" so you can always revert to the previous version... Please implement as soon as POSSIBLE.

I use Firefox on Mac my Snow Leopard 10.6.8. I had Firefox for years and recently had to install and use your special option to keep Firefox looking the way he always looked at and I'm perfectly happy with. I now use the last classic theme restaurateur 1.2.7 who installed himself as I restarted.

  • Why something as simple as the date on my computer being wrong cause me does not open all websites in firefox?

I see others have this problem several times... and we're trying to do all sorts of things to fix. This is one of my mistakes:

    This connection is Untrusted

You asked Firefox to connect on www.facebook.com, but we cannot confirm that your connection is secure.

Is it for all. And sometimes a double confirmation to go on the site anyway. Other times it will not let you go to a site just about anything.

So I came here and I realized that it was on my own reading after a few complex corrects those proposed to others who have posted this problem.

Look at the date... not on your phone... on the computer with the problem.

If you guys can make part of the warning mentioned in order to ensure that the date is correct on your computer. Also, it looks like a program connected to the internet with access to the right time wouldn't go the clock of the computer. Or maybe you should check the date in line when this error occurs if the error message can indicate to the user what the problem... or at least let it go to a Web site. Or maybe not even scare the user with a completely fake security warning.

each certificate has an issued date and an expiration date...

You can check that yourself, for example on this page, by clicking on the padlock in the upper left corner of the address bar > more information > Security > view certificate.

I have a windows 7 Home premium system with 16 gig of ram, 2 terrabyte drive and 1 gig nvidia card (which now has the latest drivers).

Work not Flash not at all or only on some web pages?

You can check for problems with the latest version of the Flash plugin and try these:

    • disable an eventual extension of the browser for Firefox Plugin RealPlayer Record and if installed RealPlayer update
    • Disable protected mode in the plugin Flash (Flash 11.3 + on Windows Vista and later versions)
    • turn off hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
  • -win 7 64 - all versions of Firefox (tested 17-20.b) keep crashing except if used in compatibility XP sp3

Since yesterday my firefox crashes, sometimes I have the option to reset firefox or start in safe mode. Using only the mode without failure of firefox works fine (but without plugins/addons)

So I did a fresh reinstall (No Add ons etc) thought to solve the problem.
I was using v19 when all this happened so retrograde to v17 hoping to fix it.
Now, I tried to v20b v17 and all keep crashing when used "normally".
After the new installation I have more the possibility to use the firefox safe.

If my recollection is correct, I had a few Java Update at the time of the first collision. I also tried to use the automatic update of win7, but those failed.
I therefore also uninstalled all java components, installed fresh firefox and tried to start firefox, before and after reinstalling java.

in all situations is immediately crashes.

The only way to make firefox work now uses the Windows XP (sp3) to windows compatibility.

I have no system restore points win7, so there is no option to use.
All other software (and browser) work very well... only firefox crashes all the time.

  • After the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, I lost all bookmarks in FireFox. Favorite Internet Explorer are intact. How can I restore bookmarks firebox?

Internet Explorer Favorites are intact, but Firefox bookmarks disappeared. Shady shot from Microsoft!

OK, so I found my backups. That's how I did it.

1 make sure you can see hidden files/folders - in Explorer in Windows 8, click view, and then make sure that "hidden object" is checked

    2. go to:
    \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\c9i1rqwk.default\bookmarkbackups C:\Windows.old\Users\ < yourusername >

    3. I copied the newest .json file from here to my office

    4. open Firefox, then open the bookmarks library

    5. click on import and backup, and then restore, then "Choose file". Identify the .json your desktop file.

That's what me sorted. If all goes well it can help you.
