Error code 800F0816 installation updates
Same problem with 4 of these Windoiws updates KB2507938, KB2532531, KB2533623 and also KB 2555917 (think I doscovered had failed to update 6 times) I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The troubleshooting tool Windows Update said that it had fixed a problem so I tried again without success. SFC ran and it found no problem. Today, I tried with boot without success; also downloaded and ran System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 from Microsoft for x 64 based systems (KB947821) {may 2011}. Who spent about 40 minutes, buzzing and clicking on, but when I re downloaded updates from a boot that he does not have. Really be cheesed enough.
When you install KB2507938 and others today on my Vista SP2 32-bit on Acer Aspire 7735 I couldn't start the laptop over. I needed to return to the configuration of the system later by the Windows tools. In the update log, I see the error code 800F0816 for the following updates:
KB2507938
KB2533623
KB905866
KB2555917
KB2532531
Any ideas why it's a failure? Should I try to stop the Windows Firewall, and then install and start the firewall up later? Any help appreciated.

Laptop from my dad recently started showing "configuration updates 3/3" followed back changes not configured message. It is on a continuous while loop that will sometimes allow windows Vista Home Premium to start. I checked the history of update and the first failure is KB2296011 which shows the error code 800F0816. Currently, I have his laptop but cannot access the internet because it does not connect to the internet via my network (do not have the knowledge necessary for to be difficulty)
Can someone help me solve this recurring problem. If necessary I will be able to access the internet on the laptop question but would like to know a solution offline if possibel. I don't want to pay Microsoft Help for the answer. I'm not very literate pc so a simple solution would be better.
You don't have to pay "Microsoft Help" for a response from the update that you have posted, KB2296011, is a Security update.
Of MS10-081: vulnerability in the Windows common controls library could allow remote code execution (KB2296011)Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.
800F0816 - express package has not been completely downloaded. The status of the operation was recorded while the package is downloaded. An express package is a package that you are installing by using Windows Update. With these packages, only the files needed for that specific computer are downloaded and installed (unlike when all is downloaded to a computer).
For a 'solution offline' you can try to manually download each update to the computer you are currently using and then transfer to the portable touched with a USB key.
Then see if they install correctly. Given that we do not know all the edits concerned... open Windows Update in Control Panel, and then click View update history link to see updates try to install.
Note that the KB numbers are updated and post them in this thread or,
go to the Microsoft Download Center, enter the KB numbers in the field to Search all Download Center , click the magnifying glass to search and download for Vista updates that correspond to the architecture of the system. (The architecture of the system is displayed when you open System in Control Panel and look at the side of System: type.)Save updates. When the downloads have finished, close the browser and all other open programs and install them one at a time. Suggest that each time you are prompted to restart.
You can configure the phone assigned to the clean boot. Then see if the connection is restored, the updates can be downloaded and installed-

Error code 800F0816 when you try to install the updates
Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, 64-bit operating system. Downloaded and installed the latest updates of security, but 6 of them have failed to install which gives error code 800F0816. (specifically KB978338, 980232, 979683, 981332, 905866 and 978601). Unable to find much information about this error code at all. Can someone point me in the right direction please? Thank you JOCK McSQUIGGLE
Thanks for the pointers, but none of the Web pages on the links provided, mentions this error code, which I find strange it seems that the problem is caused by the presence of defined Windows Firewall on 'on' when you download updates. Turning the firewall Windows on a 'stop' in the control panel allows downloads to install correctly. Hope that other users may find this useful. JOCK McSQUIGGLE

Error code 8E5E0147 for installation of windows security updates
Hello. I noticed that no new updates have been installed on my computer (with the exception of all updates for Windows Defender but also the recent Microsoft .NET Framework Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework family updates). Everything else, like security updates, have failed since January 13, 2009. I saw someone else who has had this problem for 9 months. The error code is 8E5E0147. Wndows update download and try to install the updates. However, once completed, it says "failed". I worry because my computer is not updated for April fool virus. Can I get any help here? I heard people say that maybe I need to ask a Windows installation CD.
Thank you, Martin. The thing is that my .NET and service packs would have to install. Don't forget that my problem was not downloaded from the update, but the installation. I think I found the answer. My Norton Internet security and Antivirus had expired. When I got Windows security updates, I had no program to receive these updates. I renewed my subscription, and everything worked. It has not been easy. However. I had to keep doing updates on Norton security until I received the message "no new updates were found" after that, I got all the new definitions and update of WIndows was allowed to install thanks to the new KB for your help.

update of sql server 2005 service pack 3 error code 6D9E Windows update security does not accept the update
Hey lasdj,
Thanks for posting in the Microsoft answers site!
If you receive Windows Update error 6d9e while installing SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 by using Windows Update, it means that the installation folders and directories are compressed or encrypted.
To fix this problem, make sure the folder locations where you are installing the service pack to aren't compressed or encrypted, or specify a different folder and then run Windows Update again.
Therefore, remove the compression of the DATA directory and run together to the top again.
Remove compression from the C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server folder and see if you are able to install the updates without any problem.
See the links below for more details:

All security updates fail with the error A 80071, 91 code
Hello!
System information: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, i7-720QM, 6 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, ATI 4670 [Dell Studio XPS 1645]
Background:
- UAC was arrested. Turn on UAC stop my gadgets to work [another thread on these forums...].
- A week ago, I got speech recognition works only with a local edition. Insert this ctfmon '=' CTFMON registry entry. EXE, to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, fixed the problem. However, I can't find to this registry entry.
- Four days ago, I had slow internet speed. I did a 'Complete' Microsoft Security Essentials scan and it found many exploits (Explot: Java/CVE-2009-3867.) BX, TrojanDownloader / OpenConnection.AK, TrojranDownloader:Java / Rexec.c and a dozen others). I removed all the. The internet speed is back to normal.
- This morning, I have updated the firmware on my SSD to activate the TRIM. I restored an image of the drive I did with Windows Backup and Restore just before updating the drive.
Problem:
- I tried Windows Update after update of the SSD. It downloads all updates, installs, and prompts you to restart the computer to complete the installation. During the shutdown, some files are 'configured '. Upon restart, during the boot of Windows GUI (circles of flight), there is a break-up of the code, something about the registry. On logon, it gets "35%" and says so "returning default configuration updates,' or something like that. I get a notification indicating that the updates failed.
- On Windows Update, only Silverlight, Windows malicious software removal, MSE definition updated and updated Office Publisher are successful.
- All other updates (security updates, cumulative updates, security updates for IE, updates for Windows) fail with the error code A 80071, 91.
- If you are looking for updates that fail, here they are: KB2416400, KB2296199, KB2305420, KB2385678, KB2423089, KB24236673, KB2442962, KB246759 and KB2443685.
What I tried:
- Disk Cleanup attempt (and unfortunately removed all restore points). Did not work.
- Attempt to sfc/scannow. He found a few files, that it could not correct; I have the CBS.log newspaper if you need. However, updates still do not work.
- Tried to reset the resource manager to file with "fsutil resource setautotest true c:\ ». She is successful. However, after the restart, the updates still do not work.
- Tried a Full scan with MSE. No anomaly.
- Tried to reset components to update Windows (using the Vista Fix - It via KB971058). Updates still do not work.
- Attempt of Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (updated dec 2010) Full Scan, no malicious software was detected. Updates still do not work.
- Attempt of Anti-Malware analysis complete Malwarebyte, no malicious software found. Updates still do not work.
I don't think that this is malware, but a Windows problem... My internet is wobbly for these last two days, a lot of packet loss (pages only "" half load, some missing frames, etc.). Not sure if this is related, but it downloads the updates very well. It is not always the marker "35%".
I'm out of ideas. What's next?
Thank you
~ Ibrahim ~.
1. about 1 year, I installed MSE.
2 McAfee has been preloaded; the subscription was updated (in a 90-day trial), and I uninstalled McAfee completely (regular uninstall and Removal Tool provided by McAfee).
3. Yes, for about 30 minutes before I uninstalled and installed MSE.
4. Yes.
However, with a little help seven forums, we have figured out it is the registry. I did a reinstall and then the updates installed correctly.
Thanks for the help, if! :)

Hi alisaCree,
- What security update that you are trying to install?
- You are able to correctly install the other updates?
- What operating system is installed on your machine?
You can perform the clean boot and then download and install the update manually from the Microsoft Download Center.
