Error Code OxcO190036 when trying to upgrade to the Vista SP2

I have a laptop running Vista SP 1 Home Premium 64-bit. I had a lot of problems with the windows updates, that appear to download and install, but who, at the start of the show failed.  I found I could do individually (with some exceptions), most of them and have tried the clean boot to determine if it is a third-party application problem and it seems to be a problem in Microsoft.  I tried to upgrade to the Vista SP2, which really was my original intention, and it seemed to work until it froze on a screen for a long time.  I should have written to the low all this, but I think it is! 0xc0190036!  In my view, that he said something like "msiexecu.exe" as well.  Thus, he remained on the screen for a long time and then finally closed and ran a start-up repair and after a long wait, restarted again.  He did it twice.  Any advice would be appreciated.

The 2 methods more reliable, faster to solve this error are an "in-place upgrade", alias repair facility, or a clean reinstall of Windows Vista.
The first requires the installation of Vista DVD disc, will bring the system back to the State it was in when you first started, but it will retain your personal data (music, photos, files programs/applications installation, etc.).

The latter does the same thing, but will NOT retain your personal data.

How to do a repair installation to repair Windows 7

You can also try to run the File Checker system from a system (or CheckSUR) (sfc/scannow), the update tool command prompt, configure the system to boot, download and save the complete, standalone SP2, etc..
But, from what I've been see posted in the discussions on the various forums of MS, there is no definitive answer to this specific error code, 0xc0190036, Stephen.

In addition, you can contact MS for assistance in obtaining SP2 installed from this page:

  • Error code 80070005 when trying to update Windows using Windows 7 Home Premium

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, upgrade from Vista on a Sony Vaio VGN-FW350D. The upgrade was promotional as part of the purchase of the laptop in the Canada.

I had no other pressing issues which have not been resolved. IHAVE run the built-in Windows based Registry Cleaner (like a cleaner 'free') and the dreagmenter of disk as part of the troubleshooting process.

I have tried everything I can find on the setting of the following problem:

When trying to update Windows (ie. Download updates of security or Microsoft security patches, etc.), the following is displayed: "Windows could not search for new updates - an error occurred when searching for new updates for your...» Code 80070005. It gives you the 'Try Again' button, but who does not work either.

Also, after running in a Fixit 'Microsoft' by default and aggressive modes, change my registration to God knows what state by applying other methods proposed CIHI, now when I try an update of Windows, the "last check for updates '"and updates have been installed"the both indicate '' never. '' BTW, I have the restore points before you make these changes, so no worries there.

I would like to point out that, as far as I know, this problem has persisted since January 1, 2011, when I downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, which would not update or another. Before installing MS Security Essentials, I ran Avast, I have re-installed after removing Ms Sec Ess.

In short, Windows update does not work, giving Code 80070005. Can anyone help solve this problem with me? Thank you...

    Hello

Error code 80070005 means generally that you're not quite allowed to install updates.

If the problem persists, follow the steps mentioned below and the Coachman.

    Step 1:

All first please confirm that you have logged on to an account with administrative privileges.

To connect to the administrator account

    a. Click Start, right click on computer, then click on manage.

    b. expand local users and groups, and then click the users folder.

    c. right-click on the connection of the administrator, and then click Properties, and then remove that checking the account is disabled.

Now, restart the computer and log on to the administrator account and try to update again.

    Step 2:

You could disable your anti-virue and malware/spyware protection temporarily to see if they are contradictory with the update.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.  In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 3:

Uninstall Security avast software, install the update day, then reinstall Avast.

  • Get the error code 80070005 when trying to get windows update for HP w2207 Monitor wide screen.

I have a Compaq Presario SR5410F computer with a large screen Hp w2207h with windows home premium and service pack 2. The computer is about 1 year and 3 months. About 6 months ago, I have an update of windows for my monitor and it failed several times when I tried to install it. I got ahold of someone at microsoft but never got an answer to my problem. The person finally told me to hide the update so it wouldn't keep trying to install. Now I have another update to my monitor and it will not be installed. All other updates installed fine. When I try to install, I get failed and the 80070005 error code.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Sure would appreciate it.

The post directly above it, the journal of Kateyes, has the following questions:

1 looks like there is a proxy or some sort of 'intermediary' between the Windows Update software and internet.  Usually, it is a kind of dial-up, or download accelerator software or maybe internet software such as content filtering (parental control).  If you have any of these please disable and try again.

    2. you may have a proxy configured incorrectly.  Open Internet Explorer and click on Tools / Internet Options / Connections / LAN Settings button.  Here, uncheck the "Use a Proxy Server" if it is checked.  Otherwise, uncheck the box for "Automatically detect proxy settings" and close IE and try again.

    3. the problem could be another connectivity type of questions, please try the suggestions in this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941 - make this one article first, very good on this type of error
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-error-80072efd

I hope this helps.  The question is purely related connectivity, so something related to the internet connection does not work correctly.  It probably isn't and issue with your ISP, but more with the settings of Windows or other applications installed on your computer that are at the origin of the conflict. If you find my answer was what you're looking for, remember to click on the box "mark as answer" below!

  • Error Code 1606 when trying to load photos, messenger or updates

I'm missing or in other words, inadvertantly deleted, item or app that I need on my computer to be able to download pictures, yahoo messenger, webcam and I can not load my computer updates or can I update java.  I usually get a 1606 Code when I try.  I tried to implement everything that my lame brain can think of short of put in the shop!  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I tried to restore my computer and have tried different programs to eradicate the virus or spyware.  Also, my computer is running slow turtle.  I'm out of ideas.

This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.

The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry.  Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.

Here are the steps to fix it.

    1. click on start, run, typeregedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

    2. look for the following registry key:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

886549 KBhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549: Regedit open again. In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point tonew, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Right click on this value, clickchange, type the value in the value data for the value name box, and then clickOK. The value data must be: % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.

Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.
