Error Code 1606 when trying to load photos, messenger or updates

I'm missing or in other words, inadvertantly deleted, item or app that I need on my computer to be able to download pictures, yahoo messenger, webcam and I can not load my computer updates or can I update java. I usually get a 1606 Code when I try. I tried to implement everything that my lame brain can think of short of put in the shop! Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried to restore my computer and have tried different programs to eradicate the virus or spyware. Also, my computer is running slow turtle. I'm out of ideas.

This problem occurs because there is incorrect entries in the Shell folder of the user who is logged on to Microsoft Windows. When Windows Installer goes to the sale of Shell folder of the user who is logged on to the computer, Windows Installer cannot locate the correct entry. The solution is inhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/886549.

The steps to correct this problem involve editing the Windows registry. Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk. I suggest that you first back up your registry as follows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Back-up-the-registry.

Here are the steps to fix it.

1. click on start, run, typeregedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

2. look for the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

3 remove the entries that show the path that is listed in the error message.

In the left pane, click User Shell Folders, point tonew, click expandable string value, type the value name that you want to restore (AppData) and then press ENTER. Step 8 KB 886549 suggests that you also check the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. However, by fixing my problem, I had not to change values in the registry key. If this does not work, follow ALL the steps in the referenced article.

I suggest that you download and install the utility windows install cleanup then start the cleaning utility in the start menu and then to delete the entries for the software, and then restart the computer for the changes to take effect and now try to reinstall the software and check.

I have a laptop running Vista SP 1 Home Premium 64-bit. I had a lot of problems with the windows updates, that appear to download and install, but who, at the start of the show failed. I had no other pressing issues which have not been resolved. IHAVE run the built-in Windows based Registry Cleaner (like a cleaner 'free') and the dreagmenter of disk as part of the troubleshooting process.

I have tried everything I can find on the setting of the following problem:

When trying to update Windows (ie. Download updates of security or Microsoft security patches, etc.), the following is displayed: "Windows could not search for new updates - an error occurred when searching for new updates for your...» Code 80070005. It gives you the 'Try Again' button, but who does not work either.

If the problem persists, follow the steps mentioned below and the Coachman.

Step 1:

All first please confirm that you have logged on to an account with administrative privileges.

To connect to the administrator account

a. Click Start, right click on computer, then click on manage.

b. expand local users and groups, and then click the users folder.

c. right-click on the connection of the administrator, and then click Properties, and then remove that checking the account is disabled.

Now, restart the computer and log on to the administrator account and try to update again.

Get the error code 80070005 when trying to get windows update for HP w2207 Monitor wide screen.

I have a Compaq Presario SR5410F computer with a large screen Hp w2207h with windows home premium and service pack 2. The computer is about 1 year and 3 months. About 6 months ago, I have an update of windows for my monitor and it failed several times when I tried to install it. I got ahold of someone at microsoft but never got an answer to my problem. The person finally told me to hide the update so it wouldn't keep trying to install. Now I have another update to my monitor and it will not be installed. All other updates installed fine. When I try to install, I get failed and the 80070005 error code.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem? Sure would appreciate it.
