Twice now that we have received control of Machine errors, with a purple screen of death: that is to say:

We do not have a support contract with HP, (warranty support Just). They asked to take it down and run full diagnostics on it (ugh) as well as to ensure that we have the current firmware (we were).  But why we have to run diag on the disks for this sort of thing escapes me.

Well, the diagnoses are happily cranking away. I'm just happy that we had put this system into production yet.

Issues related to the:

Anyone else had problems with the errors of Machine control with new chips from Intel's Nehalem under ESX?

Anyone know how I can map the number of CPUs in the vmkernel message to a physical processor? HP actually said that we should "change processors" to diagnose. In my mind, it's clearly a hardware problem and they should understand what cpu is themselves and replace.

Obviously, we need some sort of a support contract, because guarantee support for this is a little lacking. It is our first server HP (experience with Sun). And so far, I'm not too happy.

I guess it's off topic for Vmwre ESX, but if anyone has any suggestions as to the quantity, we have to pay to get a decent level of support, I would like to know.

Errors that you see in the newspaper combined with the control of the machine strongly suggest bad memory.

    Hello

I think it is good to add here...

I started now to migrate my server under Windows Server R2 2012. The virtual environment is vSphere 5.5 HP DL380G7 servers.

Today, I have solved a hard crash of the host server after you have added a server Win2012R2. The symptoms are CMTF (purple screen of death) to the host (I was pleased that I have disabled the new customer HA; that would be a blow my other hosts).

Basic message was "...". exception 14 worldwide xxxx... ».

I solved it very simple by changing the E1000 to VMXNET3 virtual network card. For me, it looks like a bug to develop by VMware in the next versions. For now it works.

    Hello

Probably either a (most likely) driver error or faulty memory. First run the internal memory diagnosis (just "type diagnosis memory" in the start/search to start line). If it passes, then we will have to analyze the dump file is created.

If the error messages are compatible - even verbiage and error code, it is more likely to be a driver problem. If they are constantly changing, so the problem is more likely to be a faulty hardware. Start by memory, then maybe a hard drive diagnostic. If they pass, then the next step is exchanging materials well known from the power supply. • Several errors in 'Blue screen of death' and all default programs are broken? (Windows 7)

Hello, I recently built a computer. It is about 2 weeks old and runs Windows 7 Ultimate.

When I got it, it worked fine, but suddenly any program which was not preinstalled / microsoft basic started to plant. So far, the only program of Microsoft crashing is Internet Explorer, which leads me to believe that I may have some kind of internet problem.

What happens usually is I'll open a program, and it will crash, sometimes instantly and sometimes after an hour. I checked my diary of events, and it shows nothing after a crash.

Sometimes even though I have a window open, I get the blue screen, with 4 Messages up to now:

    -System Service Exception

    -Memory management

-Failure of Page in a non paged area

-Driver IRQL not less or equal

I saw each other once, the exception of the memory management, which I got 3 times.

I have so far to try to resolve this problem:
    Updated all drivers

    System restored

    Uninstalled all unnecessary programs.

Other ideas are appreciated, I would prefer no 'generic' as ideas, "have you tried to update -?", at this time I need a difficult solution.

To add to above, make sure you have the latest version of the tools VM installed on your comments before the upgrade virtual hardware.

    You can also patch your host without Update Manager - download patches, copy them to the host and run it from the DCUI;

software esxcli vib install path_to_bundle.zip d

I would recommend to patch the hosts first for your do you get the latest version of the tools, then upgrade the tools of the guest, and then upgrade the virtual hardware.

  • Why is it called 'Blue Screen of Death?'

Why is the Windows crash screen called the 'Blue Screen of Death"when some people who don't know much about computers think that a BSoD means a blue screen that kills you when it's really just an error message?

    Hello

The BSOD made his first appearance in 1987 during the beta of IBM "Operating System/2 (OS/2) developed to lattice, stir; the developer of the first OS/2 and Windows compilers. The STOP error screen hit the OS/2, when developers were porting to other tools of lattice, Inc. over the internet. The reason behind the error seems to be bugs (it means vices or defects in more technical terms) in the OS/2 software. While giving the error description of IBM (informally known as "Big Blue", then), developers of lattice, Inc., called the error like "Blue Screen of Death", combining colour with IBM and an appearance at the dead screen that comes not depart without rebooting.

Another story, it's that the BSOD error was originally a "Black Screen of Death" (as some say) instead of "Blue Screen of Death". The term BSOD was initially given its name by Ed Brown in mid-1991. Ed Brown was then an IT technician with Coca-Cola Company, Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Ed Brown reported that the error has hit when the company implemented (Windows 3.0 operating system) in the world of Marketing Group, and the users when you try to run "WordPerfect" would randomly get BISOD error screen. The error would display a completely black screen with a cursor blinking in the upper left corner. This would happen when a user tried to run a DOS application and eventually got stuck with the BSOD error. The system had no escape from the BSOD error until it is restarted.

The BSOD error is usually written in white text on a blue background.

  • Simulate the purple screen

Is it possible to simulate the purple screen of death?  If so, how?

    Thank you.

If it's for ESXi, you can do it using vsish - http://www.ntpro.nl/blog/archives/1388-Lets-create-some-Kernel-Panic-using-vsish.html

If you are looking for classic ESX, you can do it with vsish, but you will need to get a package of VMware debugging, because vsish is not available on ESX classic by default.

  • Just as a reference: how to FIX the annoying 'White Screen Of Death"with Silverlight and"Access denied"error with computer management.

Well, I just hope that someone who has met these two mistakes will find my dose. It might save a lot of pointless research on the net.

    SYMPTOMS:
-When you try to open a Silverlight application in your browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc), your browser displays only a white area. When you right click on the white area, you can click on the Silverlight properties.
-If you try to start "Computer management" by clicking on the 'My Computer' icon and select 'Manage', you get the following error: 'access denied '.

    CAUSE:
The following errors are usually the result of a bad environment variable. In this case the "windir" environment variable does not work correctly. You can try running the management of the computer to start > run and entering:
    %windir%\system32\mmc.exe/s %windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc

Notice the between the characters of percentage windir environment variable. If you run the above code, you will probably get an error saying that MMC cannot open the file. Look closely at the path, it's back!
You will probably find any % somewhere.

What actually happened here is the variable windir made reference to another variable: systemroot
Why this creates problems, I'm not sure. Also, I don't understand what made then variable windir change.

    SOLUTION:
-From your desktop or Explorer: right-click on "My computer" and select "Properties".
-Click on the "Advanced" tab and then click "Environment Variables".

    http://pcauthorities.com/images/advanced-system-properties-XP.jpg

-Did the windir variable. Together to "C:\Windows" do not think that it is already set to "C:\Windows", because windows then tells you. Double-click it to know for sure.

-See, I told you! Change this to "C:\Windows".

  • Blue screen of death: stop error: 0X000000CE

Hi, I think I got a bad virus on my computer that's all waste.  First of all, it all started when I clicked on a link, while the Christmas on Black Friday shopping. Then I got a download of unwanted software, called system difficulty, (the small icon of Windows) I could not use system restore to remove, whenever I tried to use it, it says cannot restore on this point. Tried several other points, but no joy. Can I get the dreaded blue screen of death with a stop error: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x804f8e80, 0xef76aa98, 0x00000000). Could sail in safe mode and tried to fix it with antivirus software, found 26, abducted, ran spybot search and destroy, found nothing. Still no joy. So today, I tried to start in safe mode, and it does not work in safe mode, guard reboot again and again. Then I hit F8 and turned restart turned off so I could see the Blue error screen that would flash for just a second, and now I have this stop error message: 0x000000ce (0xf88be6dc, 0 x 00000000, 0 x 00000000, 0xf88be6dc). I read forums on video and all drivers, but this happened just after I clicked on this link and got the virus with this unwanted software download. Anyone got any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Oh and I downloaded a program called error repair of my other computer and installed but it only scan my computer to find errors and then he wants to buy you the pack premium, so that did not help. It's my computer business running windows xp pro service pack 3. Wish it would have been on this cause she has the system recovery and it worked whenever I had a virus, I couldn't get rid of that. Thank you, Steve

JoseIbarra is the expert resident on the Recovery Console and chkdsk/r. I'll track down his instructions. If the malware is responsible for the BSOD, I do not think that chkdsk /r will help, but it won't hurt. Or you might need to repair your boot.ini file.

DEFINITELY get this brand XP reinstallation CD Dell! You can use it to perform a clean installation of XP or a repair installation of XP (chances are, you won't ever need to perform a repair installation, but it is nice to have this option) or to enter the Recovery Console to perform functions such as chkdsk/r.
Chances are that your data does not fit on one CD! Depending on what you have, you might need to up to 100 CDs or more! Better to buy an external hard drive. Newegg.com has a very good selection of the most affordable. Here is an example:
Creating a Ubuntu CD bootable 'live' (and then startup out of it, rather than on your hard drive) will allow you to copy your data to the external hard drive:
There are also some other CD bootable antivirus (like Avira) which may help you:
