Error message: C:\Windows\System32\rstrui.exe "the parameter is incorrect."

I'm so frustrated!  I tried to download Google Earth, and it would not load - so I started to experiment and I really screwed up the system!  Now, I get error messages saying the C drive is not accessible, and access is denied - trying to make a system restore I ge the message above saying the parameter is incorrect.  When I right click on the c drive, it shows that it is TOTALLY FULL - it wasn't a couple of days! I am running Vista 32 bit.  ANY help you can give me will be GREATLY appreciated!  I use the discussion groups in the office all the time and have always been able to get the right answer - I am hoping that will be the case here, although I do understand that this might be a bit more complicated.

Thanks for getting back with me!  But I was so freaked out I got back my computer gurus and it costs $100, but it's fixed now!  Yes! If she was my own computer I probably would have continued to try here, but because it belongs to someone else, I didn't take a chance of really of screwing.  It turns out that the C drive was full (in color), and yet he says there's ZERO bites on it!  I wish I could be with my guru to see what he did... but at least I am in place and works now, so it's a GOOD thing! :))) Thanks much to answer and try to help me! Have a great week!

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

    Hello

I googled this file pofusido.dll and it could be caused by a virus.

I would suggest that you disable the restore mode as viruses use it to reinstall set apart them.

Download and install the free http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Restart the computer and keep pressing F8 to get into safe mode with network connection.

Once you have updated Malwarebytes run and see if it can remove the virus.

  • error message; C:\Windows\System32/igfxres.dll

Hi, I keep getting this error message c:\Windows/system32\igfxres.dll is not designed to run on windows or it contains an error.

I am running windows vista Home premium. Can someone please help?

The file belongs to your Intel video drivers. Install the latest version. Bring:

    1. site of the device mftr. ; OR
    2. site of the card mother mftr. If the material is on board; OR
    3. website of the OEM manufacturer for your specific machine if you have a PC OEM (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the Web site where you get the drivers.

To find out what hardware is in your computer:

    1. read all documentation that you got when you purchased the computer.
    2. If the computer is OEM, access the site Web of the OEM for your specific model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway)
    3. download, install and run a program of inventory of the free system like Belarc Advisor or System Information for Windows.

    Hello

You did it changes on the computer before the problem started?

I suggest you perform a startup repair.

    See these articles for help:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/startup-repair-frequently-asked-questions

  • On the computer of the opening, this message: c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe.

I searched the drivers and utilities cd that came w/my computer and the operating system cd and do not find this file there.  Don't know what to do from this point on.  Cannot remove programs without this file.  Thanks for any help!

When you try to open a control panel applet, you see a message like this:

    Control Panel
Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe '.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again.  To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click search.

If the file is actually missing, it was probably quarantined (actually deleted) by some program antivirus or antimalware you use.

You might want to reconsider some anti-virus or anti-malware software, you use and whether or not they are effective to protect your system.

You can look in the c:\windows\system32 folder and see if the file is actually missing or not, but if it is really missing, you must replace it somehow.

Since the file is one of the protected files 3498 who cares about XP, needed a backup copy of the file on your system in a few other cases.  You must do what the message says and search for the file.

Click Start, search, for files and folders... and in the search box, enter:

    Rundll32.exe

The click the search button to search for you the hard drive for a copy of the missing file.

You can find a copy of the file that is missing in these folders:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If you find a copy in one of these two files, copy and paste it in the c:\windows\system32 folder.  There may be other files rundll32.exe on your system of MS updates, but they can only be those you need (they could work maybe).

Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

If you cannot find a copy of the file in one of these two places, there is one on my SkyDrive, you can download.  Here's how:

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:
    https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=6a7e789cab1d6f39&ID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called rundll32 when the name of the file should really be called rundll32.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

You then put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

Note that advice to run sfc/scannow will not replace a file rundll32.exe missing in the system32 folder.  If you need to prove that to yourself, I also have instructions for it.
