  I own a HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea and I had a few problems with simple pass.  Before I installed it and it stuck on the taskbar in Windows 8.  Someone gave me a new update of the driver that has removed from the bar spots.

  The above is an example of the 'Windows 8' and configured software SimplePass pilot that is currently in use on a large number of mobile phones.  Note the version number similar to the SimplePass to your own version.

  If your driver version of validity is late, in other words, if the driver that you have on your computer is OLDER one pictured here, then I suggest you download and update this driver (as shown).  You are likely to have a better "match".

  Next: It is highly unlikely, but you can also check to make sure that you have not inadvertently your driver to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

  Of your Deskop:

  Control Panel > display icon > device management > biometric devices >

  Validity Sensor right click > Properties >

  Power management > make sure the box "allow the computer to turn off device" is DISABLED

   

  
  When you make changes to SimplePass, expect not to complain (work stoppage).  When you look at it, not expect to stop working...

  General rules for success:

  • Installing the driver FIRST, RESTART
  • Install / repair software second, setting up the bases... Reset.

  First of all, before EVERYTHING CHANGES, make a copy of your Webcards.  The Webcards are similar to your 'Favorites' for your websites with passwords SimplePass attached.  You should make periodic backups and always before making changes or try to repair the SimplePass software.

  Export the Webcard database:

  If you have working software SimplePass, export your Webcards before proceeding.  In the case where you must remove the SimplePass software, your webcard backup can be used (imported) to restore your Web site login information.

  Start SimplePass > settings > Export

   

  NOTE: File will be called *.tsd

   

  Don't forget to perform backups periodicals webcard when you change passwords and / or add Web sites!

  To reset / repair software without deleting:

  Fix SImplePass software:

  Control Panel > programs and features >

  Looking for this program:

  Click on HP SimplePass
  Select "repair".

  • After "fix it", RESTART / REBOOT your computer

  Remove it from the taskbar in Windows 8:

  • You should be able to go to the new startup window,
  • find the tile for SimplePass, right click on it,
  • and then pull it out of the new taskbar.

  If it is stuck, it can take a bit more work... the 'repair' above for the progam can help - try it if the simple "right click and delete" does not get this out of the way.

  SimplePass is still there - and still supported, although AuthenTec is long gone and at some point the old versions of SimplePass (versions 6.x) that depend on AuthenTec will probably give way to the newer Omni / Softex SimplePass (version 8.x).

  SimplePass update to "update" is not something I know.  I can help you check your SimplePass is "up-to-date" - for your system, you can use the latest HP SimplePass 6.x

  Find, open, and follow the suggestions contained in the file named: simple instructions for upgrade HP SimplePass

  You can download the Guide if you wish; know that if the document is updated later, your downloaded version does NOT reflect the updates or changes to the master document.

  NOTES

  If you are already using the latest version proposed in the Guide, then you can override that on top of what version you have installed now.  You can accomplish the same thing, that is, to reinstall the same version above itself, using Repair: Control Panel > display icon > programs and features > right click on HP SimplePass > repair

  Restart your computer after installation of SimplePass any type: update, expenses, repair

  Relocation (or overload) the program do not destroy your current webcards.  It is ALWAYS recommended that you EXPORT your webcards before making any changes.  The export procedure is described in the Guide.

  Reinstall or repair the program fixes some problems.

  Welcome to the HP Forum!

  You know... as much as you might regret using Internet Explorer, you could leave it on the computer as a failsafe browser.  You can delete the desktop shortcut if you do not have to watch.

  OK - Chrome will work with SimplePass, as long as you use the latest version of HP SimplePass.

  When the SkyDrive opens, locate and open the file called:

  Chrome and HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 fix

  Finally, you could benefit from the following:

  Set default programs - File Associations

  The value as much as you can without Chrome.  Note that some options may be available through IE, hense the idea of having the browser on the system where it is necessary for one or more applications later.

  I have simple pass on my computer and I like the concept, BUT when I read a page or just to think about what I read in as a minute my screen turns off and simple pass appears and I have to continue to put in my pass, I need to know is, if there is a way to do a long time before the screen turns off and the simple pass pop off. I managed to change my sleep 10 minute thing, but it doesn't seem to affect simple pass, now I can remember even how I changed that. None of my children are familiar with windows 10 enough to help me over the phone. Please keep in mind, I'm not too familiar with many terms that are used today, so if you could, please tell exactly what buttons to push to get to where ever I need to change the time on my simple pass.   As I know some of the Toshiba LCD TVs supports binding Regaza.
  This feature allows you to control the device (laptop, LCD monitor, etc.) using only a single remote control.
  But this only works if all devices support the link Regaza.

  If one of the devices (LCD or laptop) doesn t supports the link Regaze then you will probably get an this error message.

  Of course, you can disable this feature as well.

  Your computer uses older security Digital Persona software.  This is similar to the SimplePass software, a little more code and it works a little differently, but it does not work and it was written to run on the hardware in your computer.

  The trick is to install the firstDRIVER, restart the computer.

• Error message when launching simple games

  When I try to run a simple game, I get an error message "Attempt to access an invalid address." This happens to most, but not all of my games.

  I tried to reinstall one of the games and got the same error message when I launched the setup.exe file.  It's never happened before.  These are old, simple games such as Solitaire and Jezzball.  What does the error message mean and how can I solve this problem?

  Thanks for the help.  Just as you were posting, I found a solution.  I, too, suspect Spyware, but a Virus scan and Spyware scan revealed nothing.

  A week ago, I had the help of my provider of security in the removal of a virus (PC Defender).  During the session, the technician ran a freeware program called Cleanup to remove the 'useless' my hard drive files.  I suspect that some of the deleted files were not so useless.  I ran a restore of the system back about 2 weeks.  This seems to have solved the problem.

  I don't want to enter a password every time win 8.1 starts so I disabled who.  When the screen saver is on to the lock screen, if I slide my finger that I get a white light but it won't unlock but I can easy to use the mouse to move the drop to the bottom of the screen of the road and it brings back me in the deskop.  Now if I press the WINDOWS and L and pass my finger it will bring me to the deskop...

  What is going on? I would like to SimplePass recognize my finger when the phone is locked.

  You could try the following:

  • Create a Restore Point: create a restore - Win7 Point OR create a restore point Win8

  If you use a laptop:

  • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
  • Unplug everything (little unifying for the keyboard / mouse external can stay)
  • Perform the Hard Reset for your model of laptop
  • Start the computer and connect

  ELSE, if you use a desktop computer:

  • Close all your programs and shut down your computer
  • Disconnect devices USB, speakers, other drives useless
  • Unplug the computer thirty seconds
  • Connect the power supply (plug in)
  • Reconnect the devices
  • Start / start the computer and log in

  Reminder: Hard Reset is just a device to reset.  The procedure do not destroy your files, or it destroys your Windows installation somehow.  It's just "clears the cobwebs".  Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer problems.
