  2. Who is the creator of the video capture device?
  3. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
  4. What is the error code of the video capture device in Device Manager?
  5. What camera do you use Skype for video calls?

  I have been using Skype for years on a Let's's Note running XP Pro. Around Christmas 2009, after running Windows Update, it stopped working. As I have not traveled much this year, no biggie. But now, I tried to reload the last Skype 4.2 and I get a fatal error as follows:

  This is the same error that I was getting before. But the pdh.dll library is present in the windows\system32 folder...

  Can anyone help with this?

  Thanks Brian, I managed to fix it myself by accident, whatever it took, it was when choosing installation of the webcam on Skype option, I selected default webcam instead of Youcam, and then uninstalled Skype and restarted my laptop and reinstalled Skype on their site, the work done. Hope this might help someone else amateur in the future.

  Whenever I try to use Skype all I get is a blue screen where my webcam should be. I checked to see if my webcam doesn't work at all, and all I get is the web cam iniliziation failed Please check device and restart.

  Up to now, I have strength to have one problem with cam or Skype. Everything works fine.

  Are you using the original pre-installed OS? Since when you noticed this problem?
  You can use cam with other applications?
  Cam is listed in Device Manager?
