ERROR READING FILE in microsoft photo editor

I get this message if I try to open an image (new or old). To my knowledge we are not doing nothing differently when we load the digital camera. Here are JPEGs. The help topic makes no sense because the guests do not match my guests of computers. I can't find Office 2000 or Microsoft Photo Editor under programs in Control Panel. I thought that perhaps a uninstall/reinstall would be useful.

If you prefer to continue using the Photo editing software...
I have no solution for you. Maybe
someone else offers you assistance.

BTW... If you do not want to change your image
as explained in my previous associations
message... try to access your photos from
your folder my pictures and not from Photo
Editor in Chief.

  • Microsoft Photo Editor - cannot enlarge the image

I use Photo Editor with Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft 2002 and cannot enlarge a photo and zoom in and zoom out.  When I go to open a file and enlarge, I get a message saying "error reading file".  I noticed that this only happens if the photo was taken with a digital camera, namely, Nikon Coolpix L20.  I have no problem, expand and resize a picture taken with a 35mm camera.  The two images are JPEG.  Can someone tell me why this happens and what to do to solve the problem?

  • Problem with Microsoft Photo Editor

I have thousands of photos on my PC (Vista/IE8) I could see without problem for years. But suddenly, even if I'm still able to import new pictures, when I try to open them I get the following message: Microsoft Photo Editor - error reading the file.

But this seems to apply only to photos, including those that I have seen in the past, taken on my current camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC - FS7. Everything else seems to be affected.

Also, oddly enough, I can see the photos in slideshow mode!

    I would appreciate a solution.

  • Vista v's Microsoft Photo editor

I just installed Windows Vista on my computer and want to put my program on which is Microsoft Photo Editor of photo editing. While he seems to have loaded ok, some functions do not work as they did on XP, such as opening certain files, smaller images being generated.

    Hi stephenforster

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I understand that you are facing the issue with Microsoft Photo editor that some functions do not work.

    Method 1:

I suggest you perform the clean boot and check.

Place the computer in a clean boot state, then check if it helps. You can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

  • can I get my Microsoft Photo Editor to transfer to Windows 7

I use Micro Photo Editor to create my art and need to know if I can make it work with window 7, I have Windows XP and I know it didn't transfer to Vista which I did not like Vista anyway

    Hi Anishtiway,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

Unfortunately, Microsoft Photo editor cannot be transferred to windows 7. Paint is a feature in Windows 7, with which you can edit the photos. You can use Paint like a notebook of digital sketches for pictures and creative simple projects or to add text and other images, such as those taken with your digital camera.

    Hey Micky,

Until we provide troubleshooting steps, we would like to know as a result of information from you.

    (1) what version of the Windows operating system you have installed on your computer?

    (2) how you try to install the game? What is a disk installation or a set of file?

If you try to install the game on Windows 7 or Windows 8 so I would like to inform you that there are few games that are not compatible with these operating systems. You should check from the link below. However if it shows that the game is not compatible then you can install the game in compatibility mode.
