  I tried to install the recommended updates (such as SP1, update security for Office 2007/Outlook, etc.) because more tan two weeks.  After each unsuccessful attempt of the installation, I get 80070641 error message that updates cannot be installed.

  I read all the Forums and posts related to this error message.  I tried solutions such as the "power off" service Windows Installer, manual installation of updates, installation updates one at a time, by disabling all security and viruses, programs etc., all without success.

  I suggest Installer Cleanup Utility to verify an installation damaged or failed updates, causing several installation attempts.

  This problem occurs if the Windows security .dll files are incorrectly registered.

  To resolve this problem, you can perform the two methods of troubleshooting, check if the problem is resolved.
  Method 1:
  Run (Checksur.exe) system update readiness tool.
  To do this, follow these steps:
  1. download and run the system update readiness tool. This tool runs an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations.   try to download windows vista service pack 2. Last update was on May 21, 2010. For a few weeks or months, the computer can be terribly slow. Often a hard drive rattle sound.   Have you tried to install the updates manually?  If this isn't the case, I would start by doing this.  Click Start > all programs > Windows Update > view update history; Double-click a update failed, and then click the link under "More information."  This should take you to a page on this update and the file available for download.  You can then save on your system and run it manually by simply double-clicking it.  Alternatively, you can perform a clean boot before installing.

  The message you are getting means that there is some corrupt system files that could not be fixed.  If you look in the CBS.log file , it should tell you which files.  When you do that, you can try to replace the corrupt files.  However this seems to happen whenever you update it a game then you will need to contact their support for aid as this can be a problem for them.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  -->> Do not download, but instead, click 'Run' and run the update.
  -->> During the update, you will get errors - JUST click ON 'Ignore' and go through the errors.
  -->> The update complete, although history will show always 'Impossible' for once.
  -->> Next time Windows Update is run, she sees that the update takes place and mark the update given as a 'success'
