    Hello Rayzorexe,

Thanks for the response back.  You are able to start your computer and get the recovery options?  From there, you can run "Command Prompt" and I want to know if you are able to run Chkdsk from there successfully.

Are you the same response from the commands below:

Type 'chkdsk e:' in the command prompt. Press 'Enter' to run the utility to check the disk in read-only mode. He locates errors but does not fix the

Enter 'chkdsk e:/f' in the command prompt. Press 'Enter' to run the disk check and correct errors without analyzing bad sectors.

Type 'chkdsk e:/r' in the command prompt, press 'Enter' to do a thorough analysis of the sectors and files and repair any problems found.

  • I get an error message when I boot, the utility of corrupted files E:\$Secure run Chkdsk. When I do I get the parameter f unspecified chkdsk is running in read-only mode. Why?

I'm running Windows XP sp3 on a Dell with 2 GB of ram. The corrupted file is located in a disk Seagate Expansion (E).

You should run chkdsk /f (to correct), or chkdsk/r (to repair).  If this is not the case, no repairs will be preformed.

  • Essbase in read-only mode

    Gurus,
I have three essbase databases in my environment, and I intend to run a command to synchronize the three dataases.
During the synchronization process, I don't want users to connect to one of the databases, which means that I don't want users to have access to one of them or modify data in the databases.
Is there a way where I can put the databases in "read only" mode so that I can run the command.
Is there any script or any process, I can use so that users will not have access until I have completed the synchronization process.
    Any suggestion is appreciated
    Thank you

MAXL would probably be your best choice since you probably use it with data migrations.

change enforcement "appName" disable links; / * lower individual DBMS manager can connect * /.

This has a number of options
    -disable updates
-disable the commands (preventing applications to databases in the application, including applications for non-specific data, such as the display of information of database or change the database settings. All users are affected, including administrators. Administrators are affected by this setting as a safety mechanism to prevent accidental updates to the databases for the maintenance operations).

More detailed information is in the http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/esb_tech_ref/maxl_altapp.html.

    UNDER THE DIRECTION
If it is a planning application, you will also want to deal with those connecting to Essbase through planning. This is handled by the Application Mode (see http://in2hyperion.com/post/2012/09/26/Change-Application-Maintenance-Mode-via-Command-Line.aspx on the Automation). Remember, any connection between planning and Essbase uses an ID of admin, not the user ID.

  • Will only open in read-only mode

I created a PDF to a Word document in Adobe Acrobat Professional 10.1.1. When I opened the PDF it will only open in read-only mode.  I want to change the security settings to prevent editing before I send it but the file > properties > Security > > security method is gray and the value "no security".  I tried certifying and signing the document and even put in an envelope with no luck.

    Help.

    Thanks in advance.

In Adobe Acrobat format, I found a solution.  Edit > Preferences > Documents/a view Mode I chose 'Never' to view documents in PDF/A mode.  It took care of my issue.

    Thank you.

I have this error message and called technical support from microsoft, we have tried to reinstall Vista again once I had tried three times with the same error message. It would freeze to "complete installation." even let him all night to see if he needed more time to complete on its own, but nothing helps...

the technician told me I have a hardware problem, but when I installed XP on it everything works correctly.

It's a new pc and a clean install of Home premium. I re-post this question since yesterday

    Hi evan9074,

So was the question then? You can run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to see if there are compatibility issues that you have with hardware or software that would prevent an upgrade to Windows Vista.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi, Mary

I'm using the Enterprise version that it froze during installation, so I waited around 9-10 Minutes still nothing
so I started keys at random because I was waiting for a long time then restarted my PC and now I can't start my pc.

    >:-( >:-( >:-( >:-(

Boot from the Windows 8 DVD or USB media that you created
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 8 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
