Essbase contour optimization

Can you please help with the contour question below and correct me if my interpretation is correct.

To arrange the dimensions in large hourglass for optimal performance model lines should I look 'Stored members' 'Dimensions' tab on the properties of database in environmental assessments or is there any other place to examine how the dimensions are organized?

Thanks for all you help.

I agree with GlennS_3 that the hourglass model is old.  It has been even longer than version 5.  It was recommended by Arbor before Hyperion enter the picture.

The hourglass design was based on the use of the Calc cache hash table.  The last Sun called dim anchor.  If you can adapt all other than the low anchor rare dims, you can use it to identify the blocks that had to be recalculated.  It makes a huge difference in calc times if you could get a cache hash table several bits calc.  Therefore, making the largest size of the last dimension would decrease the size required for the hash table.

However, the calc engine overhaul from version 4 to version 5, greatly reduces the need for it.  The addition of parallel threads in calc scripts led to a larger dimension order.

Put the dimensions not last concentration.  The parallel threads will run against the last sparse dimension (or dimensions if you assign multiple), so if you have years or versions and scenarios that should not be added together, it's a good size for the calculation in parallel using nets.  Put first Dense, account, then time, then largest to smallest.  This is not critical, but it provides an advantage with the order of operations in two calculations of pass.  He ready also to sort of benefits during the optimization of data loading and playback of exports.  Finally, put the library size stored in order from the largest to the smallest.  This provides better performance the computation of sparse multidimensional because it reduces the total number of blocks of pavement.

The number that you want to use is in the properties of database on the Dimensions tab.  Registered members!

  • What type of Essbase restructuring occurs if change the position of sparse dimension in outline

The wording of the Essbase Administrator's guide is curious me...

We have a 11.1.2.2 application Planning/Essbase and I want to use the Performance parameters in the planning to go down a dimension of the sparse outline more order.

Essbase (contour change Quick Reference) Administrator's guide tells me two possible outcomes, but it's not clear to me which apply in my case.

The first case: ("change the order of the two-dimensional sparse") said Essbase restructures the index.

The second case: ("change the order of dimensions') said Essbase restructures them data and index

Hoping that the forum can help me decide which one of them is true - thank you.

I never noticed the ambiguity of leaflets before, but if you just change the order of the sparse dimensions, it should be the first (an index restructure).

  • Convert EPMA Essbase in Standalone Essbase

    Hi guys,.

I'm working on an existing application to Essbase BSO. It seems to be an application of EPMA. But when I'm checking the last deployment status, I could not see anything like that. I could see that created the application date and date last modified. These dates are 2 years back. But business users are adding members and make the restructuring for the past two years to each month. That's why I think that although it is an EPMA Essbase application, it is not synchronized with EPMA and they use it as a standalone application Essbase. Now, I need to do the hourglass for this app Essbase model optimization. But I couldn't do this in EAS console,, as in an application of EPMA.

Now if I change the order of the dimensions in the workspace, of course, I need to deploy it.  But if I deploy my application Essbase in EAS so far would be in sync with the obsolete EPMA dimension. Could you please help me to achieve this optimization of hour glass without touching the workspace. It is also possible to convert the EPMA Essbase asks Essbase standalone application.

Note: The current state of the application of EPMA Essbase is "deployed but lack of shared services.

Its urgent for me. Help, please.

    Hello

But what exactly do you want? you say you want to keep an EPMA application, but you do not want to touch the workspace?

An Essbase application artifacts of nothing more than its outline, its data, its filters and other. So if you make a copy of your service Regional application, remove the application in the space of work/epma, probably clean up a fair bit in case the app folder and rename your copy app its original name, then you will have a standalone app Essbase.

  • Extraction of contour Essbase

Is there another way to extract a piece of your plan without having to use the essbase OLAPUNDERGROUND Extractor?
I currently use version 11.1.1.3 on my server and I have the Excel Add-in 9.3 on my desk. I downloaded the version 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.2 extractor and tried to use each of them (installed on my desktop). Both times I got an error message "the file of contour is a newer version that this version can handle.

Well, if you're on 11.1.2.x, you can just use MaxL to contour to the export in xml format:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E17236_01/EPM.1112/esb_tech_ref/maxl_expotl.html

Have you read dealt with our JohnG on extraction contour Essbase through ODI:
    http://John-Goodwin.blogspot.com/2008/10/ODI-series-Essbase-outline-Extractor.html

Despite the complication that ODI implies, I personally prefer ODI - you take a plan Essbase, relationailizing (I just made that Word to the top) and then that the power of SQL apply do everything what you want.

  • members of contour Essbase by adding the point decimal, then zero

I created members in essbase outline, the members are created, but it automatically adds a decimal point and the number of zeros after the member name? any solution to create a numbered with decimal points member name?

My guess is that you use an excel file to create the file used for the construction of the dimension. If so, when you import a csv file it will convert the names of the members of digital to digital quantities, you must format the data or convert text columns

  • Formula of contour and the UDA load in Essbase by ODI

    Hi all

Oracle table column maps to the size designation and UDA target Essbase formula and UDA respectively in ODI 11.1.1.6

    Interface has also run successfully.

but noted in the Regional service console that shows the Member who doesn't have a formula "! FORMULA ERROR NOT LOADED! ». Same case with the UDA.

Can you please how to handle this in the ODI format and the UDA in ODI.

    Thank you
    Alex keny

You would load UDA and formulas all the same that the other columns, if there is an error with the formula generates usually outline the comment of the error.

It of probably worth to look to the operator steps and view the SQL code generated before being transmitted to essbase, you can then execute the SQL and verify if it is correct.

Please note that you will need to manually delete the comment of the error in the outline as even if the formula is loaded correctly the next time, this does not alter the comment.

  • Automate the creation of contour in Essbase with lots

I installed Essbase and IST version 11 and created meta-model and Meta outline in the environmental impact assessment.
Also created an application in the service of the Administration of Essbase. I need help to load the dimensions of the environmental impact study in the
    Application using a batch file.

Any help/input would be really appreciated.

EAS/IST/Essbase all three are installed on the same server (windows platform) and database is oracle 10g on the same server.
I need to automate the process of creating the sketch.

    Thanks in advance.

If you have used EIS, you will notice in the console, when the dimensions of the building or loading data, you can run it immediately, distributes them or save them to a file of cbs. IF save you it as a file of cbs, you can then plan their use with a batch file to run them. The Administrator's guide has a very good explanation of what do the different commands and how to run them

because it is an application of EPMA, the calculation module will be Manager of calc, so you should create sets of rules/rules in GestionnaireCalc.

You can create a new application with computing as a business rule module, then you will be able to select the types of enforcement of planning for hierarchical selection Plan and location.

Hi - I created a maxl script that exports lev0 of my cube, resets the db and loads data back and Calc. And statistics are computed every night... my question is how would implement oracle to use loops nested without use of indicators, then oracle can choose the right plan with loop nested by himself without the help of clues or without using stored outlines...

so wat I say is... can the first statement sql (with no options) use loop nested by itself without suspicion...

I think it would work and pick up the public synonym.

If you are concerned about security using the public synonym, I don't think it would be a problem too long any other user wouldn't have different access to the actual data of those who now have access to the view.

Do not forget that the public synonym gives only a resolution of an object name, no access to the object itself.

I hope this helps. Have a great weekend...

  • Increase the page cache of contour (OPGCACHESIZE) to 20 MB?

    Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays,.

My app.otl of the ASO contour size is 20 MB.  Shall I increase OPGCACHESIZE to 20 MB?

    Default value is 8 MB.

Also, where can I find statistical Page hit ratio cache?

Thank you for your gift of Christmas at the beginning.

The OPGCACHESIZE parameter must be defined in the essbase.cfg file to allocate more memory for schema generation.

I agree that this kind of functionality should certainly be available by default through maxl and eas now.

  • Essbase Calculated Member retreival OBIEE reporting takes time

    Hello

My OBIEE version is 11.1.1.7.0 years have a cube ASO in Essbase 11.1.2 as my source.

There is a calculated member ASO which retreival in reports is time consuming.

Optimization measures proposed to reduce the wait times in OBIEE.

PS - We have integration Hyperion OBIEE in place already.

The heads-up on the improvement of the performance would be a great help.

    Thank you

    Hello Sam,.

    OBIEE has many ways optimized:

    1. you can use the OBIEE cache management, hitting the first time the ESSBASE CUBE and the second time the OBIEE hit the cache, it improve your processing time.

    2. in your maybe views that you have limited the main information, I mean, OBIEE is a web application bi and if you try to pretend to get a lot of lines, this might give you some problems, as a work around you could limit your opinion, in your 'LINES PER PAGE' properties, and as a work around if you want to get a large amount of data that you download it.

    2. If points 1 and 2 shall not apply to your needs, perhaps to think, to use the cache of essbase optimization

  • Backward compatibility - migrating the members of 11.1.2.4 to 11.1.2.3 contour?

Good snow shoveling day everyone!  I hope that you have found the right higher training!

Our production ASO cube lies in 11.1.2.3
Our test ASO cube lies in 11.1.2.4
We want to migrate members in the outline of the ASO cube production ASO test.

There is backward compatibility of the migration of members of the contour (migration of members of 11.1.2.4 to 11.1.2.3 contour)?
In other words, we can migrate 11.1.2.4 describe 11.1.2.3 members? Is it a 'backward' migration utility that would allow us to migrate 11.1.2.4 a glimpse back at 11.1.2.3?

Psalm, we know that when we move 11.1.2.3 State to 11.1.2.4, 11.1.2.4 ASO would we require to migrate 11.1.2.3 briefly 11.1.2.4 front.

We have the planning and LCM, but tech support said 11.1.2.4 LCM is not compatible with 11.1.2.3 (aka there are a few bugs).

Otherwise I guess we can use the contour of the OLAP Underground to migrate Extractor.

    Thank you.

    No alcoholic Cheers!

If it is before 11.1.2.3.500, then there will be such issues as pointed out 'Essbase Administration Services (EAS) outline 11.1.2.3.500 to 11.1.2.3.000 empty file Migration Wizard creates (Doc ID 1927334.1).

Migration of a glimpse through earlier versions is certainly risky and you're only going to be clear if it is rebuilt.
