  On Windows, the background process running as a thread in the oracle.exe process.

  You can see through the database using the V$ BGPROCESS discover or "SELECT the PROGRAM FROM V$ SESSION WHERE USERNAME IS NULL.

  Not sure about all the tools under Windows that show the nets with the name of background processes (process explorer from sysinternals shows the son, but not the names of background processes).

  I try to deploy a cube Essbase Studio but I get the error: "* Error (1021001): could not establish connection to the SQL database server."
  
  My environment is Linux 5, Oracle 11 g and EMP 11.1.1.2. Database Oracle and Essbase has been installed with different users. The .bash_profile to hypadmin user (i.e. install Essbase) I put the following variables

  In my pc (windows xp), I can open the Essbase Studio console, the connection to the Oracle server, get the tables and create a minischema of measures and hierarchies (I can see the preview of hierarchies). I also can create cubes with EAS and can connect with MAXSHELL to essbase.
  
  When I try to deploy the cube of Essbaes Studio there get the error ' Error (1021001): failed to establish connection to SQL Database Server.

  You would use Essbase Studio to manage the planning, it really has nothing to do with the planning and studio for pure Essbase databases.

  During the installation of Essbase Studio only, ess_es_server.jar and ess_japi.jar are missing. If you install Essbase and Studio, they have not disappeared.

  This is due to the new bug 14232814 - in the COURSE of the INSTALLATION ONLY STUDIO SOME. NOT INSTALLED JAR FILES

  Try the following:

  Stop Essbase Studio
  copy the files in EPMSystem11R1\common\EssbaseJavaAPI\11.1.2.0\lib

  If the folder does not exist, create it.

  1. stop essbase Studio.
  2 remove the tables in relational database
  3 paintings to recreate.
  4. start Essbase Studio.

  I am very new to hyperion. I installed services, essbase and planning foundation and configured them. Then I installed essbase studio via EssbaseStudioConsole and started the system to help start the EPM system. When I run EPM System diagnosis, is everything except for this error:

  You need to check the server.properties for correct syntax to connect to Oracle, the file will be in /user_projects//BPM/BPM/bin

  If you use the name of the service Oracle syntax is

  Catalog.URL=oracle\://host\:port/OracleServiceName

  If you use the SID Oracle syntax is

  Catalog.URL=oracle\://host\:port\:sid

  If you make any changes, restart the service of Studio.

  Also, it looks like you use the schema system is that correct?

  You shouldn't really use the diagram of the system and create one for the Studio.

  Essbase Studio is the replacement for EIS, they all have two do roughly the same thing, essbase studio includes some of the new features for essbase 11 that IST does not work.
  EIS will slowly go away, so if you're new to these products then it is probably better for studio, even if at the present time, he seems to lack some features such as the race of the batch commands.

• Connect to the Oracle database - does not connect

  The try section runs very well but only partially because you get the exception "ClassNotFoundException", which means that it is impossible to load the Oracle driver class (so it does not reach the line where it says):

  Class.forName(driverName);
  

  You intercept this exception and then simply print a line "could not find the database connection: null". Then you let the code continue, obviously without you still initialize your variables.

  I would recommend rewriting those catch blocks throw new RuntimeException so that the code will not continue any further when an error is detected in the try or don't catch not all of them if you donot want to manage them appropriately.

  As for your problem, you probably have not added the ojdbc14.jar is to your project, and this is why it cannot find the class OracleDriver.

  Finally, try adding {noformat}

  {noformat} around your code when you post code.   After having modernized our virtual center to V4, the foglight fails to report all the details and only has the following alert:
  "FaultException: impossible to extract the data of inventory of the collector: the parameter name cannot be null or an empty string."

  I logged a call with Vizioncore and the resolution is as follows:
  the problem you have is related to a VMware problem experienced during the upgrade to vSphere 4.0 as detailed in: kb.vmware.com/.../search.do
  Bascially, you must run a SQL command of your Virtual Center via MS SQL Management Studio that will identify one or more VMs who have a missing entry in the VPX_VIRTUAL_SCSICONTROLLER table. Once this information is determined that you would follow the steps 2 to 6 of the reolution... basically remove these virtual machines of the inventory and adding them back.
  When these steps are complete, you will re-start the vFoglight Collector of Vmware and Vmware vFoglight connector services.

  As far as I know, it's only authentication SQL server native.

  It was a problem experienced in 11.1.2 all releases so will be the same for 11.1.1.3

• dimension of the hierarchical attribute with Essbase Studio

  I need to load the product dimension that is organized in a parent-child relational table like this:
  (parent_code, member_code, member_alias, mark, consolidation, formula)
  
  Each product has a mark and I need to load brand as a dimension of the attribute. The thing is the brand isn't flat, but it has its own hierarchy. For the brand, I have another relational table, where the data are organized parent-child like this:
  (brand_parent, brand_child, brand_alias).
  
  I do this load with Essbase Studio but I know is not how to create the Product hierarchy in the cube schema in order to load the parent-child hierarchical attributes. Documentation and tutorials only show examples of dishes attributes. I thought of these two ways, but do not know if will work:

  ^ ^ ^ It's a little confusing, isn't? As far as I understand the role of EPMA, it is a way to share dimensions and common data between several products Oracle EMP including Planning, Essbase and HFM. In fact, I don't know if other products live in EPMA. What is EPMA not have is a great way to supply or manipulate the dimension and fact tables (or files). Oh, there are tables of the interface, but you will write the code/use the utility of dimension EPMA to load dimensions. I must say that I never tried to load through EPMA data so that someone else will have to pronounce on it. Once the dimensions are built, you can deploy Essbase (and other products) of common and specific to the database dimensions.

  Studio is the tool you will use to go against a data warehouse, or something terribly close a data warehouse to build Essbase databases. Just for Essbase - HFM, planning, etc. are not the targets of the Studio release.

  What gets confusion / intriguing, is that when EPMA deploy Essbase apps, it uses Studio under the covers to do. So the interesting implementations where people use Studio (which is much more flexible than EPMA because it is a development tool as opposed to a dimension/data management application) to read the tables, EPMA interface (and as far as I know, the EPMA base tables) and create Essbase applications like that.

  If you think that there is overlap, I agree with you, but you can see that they are not the same.

  And a really need Essbase Studio?

  ^ ^ ^ Do not use Studio to build Essbase databases. You can go hog wild in EAS with loading SQL rules if you want, even if at some point it will be probably easier and simpler to build in the Studio. Although the Studio has been mentioned as the replacement of EAS for awhile, I suspect the effort required to build a database in Studio will keep around for quite a while EAS or Studio Lite will be out. There is a lot to say (sometimes) for the incredible flexibility EAS/Essbase-Studio requires a more methodical approach and EPMA has a very formal set of standards and methods.

  Phew, I'm sorry, I wrote a book on this subject and I bet you get a lot of differences of opinion on that.

  If you are interested in the Studio, you could do well to take a copy of 'Look smarter than you are with Oracle Essbase Studio 11' of Glenn Schwartzberg. I don't get a penny from the sale while I was among the writers of copy (Hey, I got a mention in the acknowledgements). It's a good book and an excellent introduction to the tool.
