• VCA level after the Migration of ESX4.0 to ESXi5.0

  I have a problem (complaint) with the level of my new ESXi 5.0 Cluster under vCentre VCA 5. The VCA level is set to 'Sandy Bridge' and the four hosts in the cluster are the E5-2650 Server ProLiant DL380p Gen8 16 core processors.   The VCA mode is turned on, so I suspect that there may be some inherited in the VMX files entries that affect it. Can upgrade you virtual hardware to the latest version supported by your hosts and the test of this new (including reset the CPUID mask).

  If this also fails, or you are already on the material correct version can you send a VM affected VMX file and the file in VMX to a newly created (with the same version of virtual hardware) VM.

  Another option to test if the VMX file is the cause, must cancel the registration of the virtual machine, create a new virtual machine, but fix the existing disks - this turns and check the EVC mode. But it might be easier to upgrade the virtual hardware, reset the CPUID masks, remove entries incriminated in the VMX and feed their place.

  EDIT: Of course upgraded the VM tools before the virtual material.

  In my environment, I have 50 + guests, ESX, but all are ESX4.1.0 260247. I m asking the client and management team we need to update these hosts atleast ESX 4.1.0 721871, but they are not ready to do so. I m planning to take in a meeting on the same, I want to show if we are updating atleast 4.1.0 721871 so we will know and therefore questions, need your help, what data should add in my presentation to make these people understand that we are not lossing anything if we improve these hosts.

• Migrate to vSphere/ESX4 host of the no routed private network to the public network mgmt mgmt

  I'm looking for advice on the best method to move guests to U2 ESX4.0 of a private network that is not routed on one vlan routed public. It is complicated by the requirement to keep all the VMs on the server farm running with no downtime / failure. Is this possible?

  Our farm config is:

  1 x VM VC4 (32 bit) with two network adapters:

  -1st NETWORK adapter connected to the vlan routed public (193.x.x.x)

  -2nd NETWORK card that is connected to the private network not routed for mgmt/service console all ESX hosts. (10.0.0.x)

  -Files local host on the vCenter server for DNS resolution of the ESX hosts on private non-routed network mgmt

  10 + ESX 4.0 U2, console svc host 1, console svc 2 and all about vmotion network private not routed.

  -The local Hosts file on each ESX host facilitates DNS on the network of mgmt ESX host.

  * We intend to keep the vmotion/vmkernel on the private vlan not routed

  Here are the steps that I have written so far:

  1 Vmotion all VMs off ESX host and switch to Maintenance Mode

  2. unplug and remove host ESX VC

  3. use VMware KB Article: 1022078 to change the address on the service console

  4 update the hosts file on the VC and all ESX hosts with this ESX host's new public address

  5 re - add a host to the CR

  Q: I would be then able to vmotion between virtual private machines NET ESX host on this new net public ESX host?

  I usually restart the agents with the order you suggest just to feel safe.

  We have 2 ML370G5 and HP P2000 storage.

  After that the blackout was the fastest bootet ESXI server then the storage so the ESX found no storage...

  So I have to do a manual Rescan of the storage...

  The Vcenter lies as a virtual machine on the environment.

  So my q:

  Is ther e option to delay the start time of ESX4.1i (2 or 3 Minutes)

  Or another idea is possible to run a task X miutes after as a start of a witch to automatically ESX4.1i done a Rescan of my storage auto?

  If anyone has an idea im happy all the entries.

FIZ um test deployando para um ESX4.0 e faith ok, migrei quando tudo para o ESX4.1 renew has appear apipa IP fixo, como abaixo imagem acima. SE leave catch IP por DHCP certinho also works.

  Please help me to set up the joint on ESX4.1.   Sorry, my bad. I didn't know that you use ESX. The procedure I described works for ESXi.

  Since will continue not ESX from VMware (only ESXi will by available since version 5.0), I recommend that find you that ESXi is taken in charge for installation as well.

But as I tried to make some scripts / installation of packages, I noticed that it lacked some features on the shell of the console. Dummy I thought this feature would be available using a 'proper' license code

  have a 2003 server that cannot connect to the internet

  yesterday it was nice a static ip on the machine, nothing has changed.

  tried to activate DHCP but im getting APIPA is a flat network so not configured

  all servers in VC Lady segment workin very well

  try to remove the card and install again without success

  Its an AMD pcnet accelrated adapt.

  If you can not always connect to the network, check the virtual network. Are all uplinks 'up' and they show the correct speed/duplex? Also make sure that physical switch ports are configured correctly, for example, VLAN, spanning tree portfast, switchport mode access (no secure port).

  I recently installed std ESX4.1 in one of my server DELL 2930 after what one needs for the data movement to my 8 gb Transcent USB device to one for the vmfs data store, but unfortunately, the operating system is not able to detect the USB, I mean it detect but unable to provide an editing tool.
