ESXi 3.5 per Incident Support

Nobody knows what happened to the ESXI3.5 by Support Incident? -Now I see that per-incident Support for ESXi4 - that also cover ESXi3.5 systems?

I contacted x 3 sales and nobody seems to know that answer - how to buy per Incident Support for my ESXi3.5 servers?

Thanks in advance

-J

Hello

ESX4 is the only support/license available for sale since May 21... But the license and support is valid for ESX3 so...

  • Pay per incident service

    Hello

I am a new potential buyer and I was wondering if the pay per incident services that VMware offer is worth. This seems to be a very good forum and my needs are not immediate, unless my system has a complete melt down.

I'm about to buy a couple of licenses, and I need to know, should I pull the trigger on one or two incidents a year, or just rely on you, the experts.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ron

Also, remember that when a fresh company per support incident, it becomes a financial incentive for them not openly share solutions in a forum and not to correct the problems identified by customers, if this issue can increase incident.

This is ridiculous. It is better to have satisfied customers to try to get a little extra money. Talking to a person living usually takes longer time for e-mail support, and support costs help simply to defray these costs. In addition, as many employees on the forums, I'm a developer, not compatible, so there is no incentive for me to try to try to hide fixed (or to support, but it is a clearer case for developers). Besides, there is no reason for me to be here - probably more code I would write if I wasn't. Even employees who are support are not getting anything currently out on the forums. Hmm, we would probably have more requests for paid support, if the forums did not exist...

No, we're here because it's the right thing to do. Not everything is A * B * C<>

ronross: there are a lot of people knowledgeable on the forums, but it is not an official support channel. Some questions are answered quickly, but others are best solved via email or support per incident. I think that the forums are a great resource, but I'm just trying to set expectations appropriately.

    3. can you multiple access by 5.5 ESXi host the same data store (located on a San) vmfs using the free version of ESXi 5.5?
Can I use this in a production environment? I have seen some companies test this on a non-production environment. Technically, it works.

    Thank you
    Paul

    Welcome to the community-

    (1) as long as the DRS HA cluster hosts see data even warehouses there will be no problem

    (2) once more, also longer than the nose can see data warehouses including the LUNS as the RDM it home should be without issue.

    (3) Yes multiple instances of the free version of ESXi can access LUNS shared - Yes it can be used in a production environment, but remember you can not handle the free hypervisor with vCenter.

  • How to configure esxi "change the time tech support"?

Is it possible to set the time-out value to change tech support timeout in esxi?

You can also try following command

    Get-VMHost | Game-VMHostAdvancedConfiguration - UserVars.TSMTimeOut name-value 1800

This will put it to the negotiations 30 minuutes, above value is in seconds

There is no error during installation, when it first starts, there are ' TARS: Hotplug not continuous area.» Partially ignored"error message on the screen and then come to the login screen, but there is no network.

ifconfig find only loopback NIC, can someone tell me how to set up the network and access its GUI? (Or esxi 4.1 U1 currently does not support centos 6.0 as VM?)

    Thanks for the reply

  • ESXi 4 has Jumbo frame support?

I am about to install a "Iomega StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS' for use with a server ESXi 4 using iSCSI.

This device supports Jumbo frame support and hoping that ESX does as well, anyone know?

    Thank you

    Rob

I'm not sure I understand how to make a big gain - with 1500 byte MTU, it's already better than 97% (38-byte header).  Of course, there will be a reduction in the treatment of overhead (CPU utilization should be reduced a little) but toe should alleviate a lot of this - ESX (i) uses ToE?

Unfortunately the jumbo frames are a feature under license, see here.

  • ESXi 5.5 changes in support of USB controllers?

Trying to upgrade my laboratory at home to 5.5 to test some of the new features before making roll at work and I encountered a problem with installing it.

I have a pair of hosts running 5.1 installed on a USB key with an internal SSD to be used as a host disk cache (prob to commute to vCache if ever I can get 5.5 to install).

5.1 and 5.0 before he recognized the USB and installed it without any problems, 5.5 however did not see the USB drive at all. In fact, as far as I can tell to halfway across the chest (to the yellow top half point) it seems to disable the USB subsystem entirely because the connected usb keyboard turns off at this point. He continued boot from USB CD-ROM drive

My best guess is that the UEFI boot is keeping in legacy mode usb controllers and present to the boot environment, ESXi starts the drivers for USB controllers attempts take charge from the UEFI bios and shut them down/is unable to load / who knows.

I was wondering if anyone else saw it and there a work around?

    My systems are:

    ASUS P8H61 - I motherboard R2.0

    processor i3-3220

USB stick plugged into the usb2 ports NOT usb3 ports

I had the same problem as everyone else, but I'm on an Asus ASUS RS700-E7/RS8, here's what solved the problem for me:

See the attached photo, by default EHCI transfer was disabled, so I chose "Enabled" as shown and restarted.

The keyboard and other USB devices then continued to be reactive. Research in transfer EHCI then is on my list unless someone can shed some light on this subject.

  • ESXi 4.1 and SSE supports

    Hello

Here, I make my 1st steps in the world of virtualization and a project of "study I have to climb an esxi 4.1 with what it takes to mount several VM... and all for free of course..."

The problem is that I'm looking for some time and I really struggled a spotting me Microsoft so there are programs... I have the vintage understand that must be paid "fly" an esxi 4.1 vSphere was, but he's paying... and it must be a solution in the long run...

So, I've been digging the site and google, and I heard talk of vCLI and vMA, but I really understand their exact functions and if these programs could allow me to fly my esxi to my VM...

Would you have an idea of the tool that I can use pour arrive at finally down me?

Sorry if this question seems a bit simple or what, but I swim really the!

    Thanks in advance!

Returns to the vSphere ESXi download page:

Click Download between your e-mail address and your password. You then arrives on a page from where you can download not only the ESXi install CD but also all the tools necessary to son exploitation: VMware Tools upgrade packages pour earlier versions and the vSphere Client. You install it on a PC and you throw it. In the login window, of the you showing the IP address or the DNS name of your ESX, the 'root' account or an equivalent account that you have created on your host, and you go son password.

You should then have access to your ESXi and be able to create your VMs.

    A +.

  • ReadyNAS Pro 6 - Pro Support

Hi all, I'm looking for more details on the pro for my Readynas Pro 6 support. However, when I called support they advised only per-incident support is available. The reason why I ask that it is the customer that I support has no real technical knowledge and it's always a matter of concern for me when I am not available. It would be good if there was a service I could buy so they could call an experienced support engineer who could go to distance effectively and help them if I wasn't able to. Thank you...

    It is what it is.

The 314 is a suitable replacement for the Pro 4. It has a faster than the Pro 4 processor and double the RAM. However, it is not as powerful as the Pro 6. It depends on the use case whether it is appropriate.

The 516 has a better processor than the Pro 6 and 4 x the RAM.

Yes, you can run double redundancy on the 314. A system of 4-Bay double redundancy would be the capacity of the smallest disk.

Rackmount the 3130 or for a 12 - bay 3220/4220 according to budget would be the way to go.

  • VMware Converter standalone OR... I'M CONFUSSED!  Help, please

    Hello

I have the vmware converter plugin installed.  What is this for?  I can't find any documentation.  The only documentation I can find is for the stand-alone version.  Work together or what?  Then the documentation still says to install the converter on the source machine and I understand not what converter, they're talking about. I want to do a cold cloning on my SQL servers.  It's the standalone "VMware-converter - 4.0.1 - 161434.exe" and it's the VMware converter ' VMware - Converter.exe "I use the standalone version for a test of my Vista machine as a clone of good hot and has worked.  But I do not understand the cold cloning process.  Can someone point me to the documentation.

My environment is PE2950, ESXi 4.0 embedded, vCenter Server vSphere 4.0.  I am cloning all standard W2K8 servers.  Some SQL, domain controllers and servers of rest files.  A Server Application.

    Help!

    Thank you

    GEOBrasil

    GEOBrasil,

I understand the confusion around the different products of converter.  I hope that I can help you better understand which version is right for you.  The reason for the different versions is based on what type of conversion you want to do, which are based on physical operating systems (Source) and your virtual environment (Target) is going to be.

Couple of warning or best practices:

-VMware recommends NO conversion P2V from DC.  It is better to build NEW virtual machines for this.

-Hang your applications (SQL, WEb, etc.) before making a hot-clone (plug-in or standalone Enterprise)

First, for each platform VI3.x, VI4.x there are TWO business (plugin) version and a standalone version (Windows & Linux applications)

-VMware comparison chart gives an overview of the differences (http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/get.html)

    Non-exhaustive summary below:

    Enterprise Edition:

Pros: vCenter integration and automation, supports

Cons: you have to pay for it (you already have it if not the factor in your assessment.  No 'multi-stage' conversion (i.e. 1 snapshot converter, deltas on a machine running are lost or migrated manually).  No Linux support. Can't stand VI as a platform to target.  Includes the CD "cold-clone".

    Stand-alone Edition:

Benefits: support Linux.  Supports the VMware Desktop products (workstation, Fusion, etc.) as target platforms. "Several steps" cloning, intial snapshot conversion as deltas.  Source and target of service and the power of command for Windows.

Cons: Billable per-incident support.  No automation, scheduling.

    Cold-conversion

Benefits: no changes can occur on the source server.  preserves the logical partitions.  No service application comes into conflict with the local area.  No installation on the source area

Disadvantages: Requires downtime for the source server.  Requires the driver support for all devices on a physical to be present in BootCD (WinPE) Server

    Hope this helps

    Hello

    Hello geoffcooper,

That's not good then. Unfortunately, you may really need to happen to support the Center, they may be able to solve this problem for the backend. Through support center, they have L3 which remotes toward SIN and fix it via Telnet. I checked your case submission and found that it is empty and there is no serial number recorded, there need serial number. In addition, per-incident support contract is necessary for them to go forward.

  • BSOD on install of Windows 7 after hard drive crash

I have a HP Dv7 with Intel i7 and 8 GB memory. About 3 years.

Recently, I lost my hard drive to a physical failure. I bought a 120 GB SSD as the principal and a 1 TB drive 7200 RPM as the secondary to be replaced. I ordered the HP restore kit to reinstall Windows 7, but each installation stops at "loading drivers" step and gives me a BSOD. I tried to remove the SSD drive and using only the hard drive, but the same results. Also tried to do a clean install of Windows 7 with an ISO image to a bootable USB key. The same problem. I also tried swapping the primary/secondary locations for readers.

Nothing I have tried seems to work. I'm desperate for a solution! Why would I get a BSOD on a reinstallation of the software factory?

I am trying install Windows 7 without SP1 to see if that works, but have no chance. What else can I try? What I have to install Windows 8 to work with the new hard drive or SSD? »

I tried to restore 4 times (3 hours + per attempt). I tried the clean install of Windows 7 SP1 at least 10 times, each of them do not reach the exact spot. Windows won't INSTALL, so that steps can be taken?

As I posted earlier, I had problems with installing Windows 7 on my laptop HP Pavilion Dv7 after replacing a hard drive defective. I ordered the kit of training materials ($60) and the operating system of restoration kit (essentially Windows 7 and drivers) on a 4 disc set. I paid the extra money for all accelerated for me.

After you have installed a 120 GB SSD and the new 1 TB drive 7200 RPM, I tried to install the operating system using the DVD restore I ordered. Each installation took about 4 hours and each of the 3 times (i.e. 12 hours!) installation has failed at the end of the installation process. Then I downloaded a clean version of Windows 7 ISO and burned a bootable USB an attempt installs another 15, which also failed at the end of the installation process.

In desperation, I contacted HP support and was informed that I had to pay for technical support. I must say that I was really disappointed by HP and HP «each incident» support I spent $59 and 3 hours talk with some idiots in the new Delhli, who accompanied me through a few tests of BIOS of base no matter what 3-year-old could have understood, I sent them a picture of the BSOD and error code, and they arrived at their 'solution' to send me my laptop to HP for them to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system for the pittance of $200 and 7 to 9 days!

I refused their generous offer to relieve myself of the burden of $ 200 in my wallet and took the laptop to Fry when I bought it. After 15 minutes of discussion about my question, the tech told me that I needed to install the Intel drivers during the installation of Windows 7. He popped a USB key containing the Intel drivers, I've needed, continued with the installation of Windows 7, and I was back at home with a working machine within the hour. It cost me $35. A BARGAIN, given that HP, the company that BUILT my laptop was completely distraught about this problem and the only solution was to deprive me of my laptop for 9 days and during this time, charge me $200.

So to all who read this, please pay NOT for the HP "per incident" support. They are slightly educated idiots who know no more about the HP product than your typical 3 yr old child. For example, they suggested that the HP laptop in my possession was "very sensitive" and I wouldn't be able to put 'any hard disk that was not exactly to the same specification as that was in it from the factory'.  Idiots.

I you need to re - install Windows 7 on your laptop, visit the Intel website and download "floppy" (i.e. not the executable versions which self install) versions of their drivers for your laptop, load on a USB stick and when begins the installation of Windows 7 where it asks if you want to load the drivers, select the drivers on your USB key and installation will be smooth.

Again, how is it possible that HP and their support forums are not aware of the problem or the solution? Seriously. This is probably the last HP I buy. Just exhausting and annoying to deal with this.

    Craig

PS - My HP Pavillion DV7 is smoking quickly with the new solid-state drive and updated 7200 RPM secondary drive. * beep * thing boots like 20 seconds and Photoshop load almost INSTANTLY. Incredible.

  • Windows Small Business Server 2008 starts after the full restoration of the PC

I need help URGENT here. My company has a HP Vantage 2 hard drives with Windows 2008 Server. C and D, both have important data on them. D drive has become corrupted over the last weekend, and as a result, the server was very slow and data on the d drive was inaccessible. Unfortunately, D drive was somehow part of the boot sequence, and when I took it out, the computer would not start at all.

Well made to purchase two new drives of 1 TB and replace the old records with them (we need the extra space anyway) and I did a complete system restore by booting from the windows installation CD and choose the external USB hard drive, we had that we were using for daily backups. Restore seemed to be going great, it took almost 3 hours and when he was done he had some problems.

1 when the external USB drive was plugged and the system tried to start, it would give an error message and would not continue even if the BIOS was said to NOT boot from the USB key.

    2. when the drive has been disconnected, windows seems to start normally, I would still get up to a point where I had a mouse cursor that I could move on a black screen, but then the computer would suddenly reboot! Like someone hitting the reset button. I can hear the drives stop when it happens. The same thing happens with no failure or last known good configuration mode.

It is a major problem because we do not have Internet or files. I wish there was a phone number that I can call for assistance. I would be happy to pay for it! even if it is a third party.

I saw that Microsoft had "pay per incident" support but it just says: it is $ 260, what for? An hour? A case? A month?

    Any help would be appreciated
