ESXi 4.0 supports Windows Server 2008 Clustering?

Hello

Does anyone know if the Clustering Windows 2008 Server (MSCS) is officially supported in ESXi 4.0?  If this isn't the case, someone has suggestions on how to configure it to a production environment by using third-party tools?

Thank you

Andrew

Yes.

  • Windows Server 2008 clustering

I'm testing Windows Server 2008 shared help cluster on an IBM SAN ds4500 storage. Two RAW LUNS are used as storage shared on both Windows 2008 servers. When I run a test of validation in the context of implementing a cluster I ger errors on validation of the disc. So no disks are found which are suitable for the Server 2008 clustering. The error in the log is:

"LSI adapter, Ultra320 SCSI 2000 series, bus type w/1020/1030 fake disk doesn't support clustering. Disk partition style is MBR. Partition of disk type is BASIC. »

If I add the same two LUN RAW for Windows Server 2003 clustering they are valid drives presnted to set the cluster.

  • Cannot import Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtual machines to VMware ESXi 4.

    Hi team,

I use VMware vCenter Converter Standalone to import certain Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V virtual machines to VMware ESXi 4, using another Windows Server 2008 R2 as the machine Agent Converter. Well, the agent connects to the Windows VM source very well (I used the net use command to create a line of conduct...), perhaps no chance to connect to the computer target VMware ESxi 4 and make the converter doesn't work...

    Following is the error message:

"Unable to connect to the host specified" from the converter agent machine. " It is perhaps because the host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on this host services do not react. Check all components of converter to be able to connect.

So, my question is; is it possible to create a work around (like the net use Windows command above) to make possible the connection of the converter Agent on Linux VMware ESXi 4 machine Windows machine, to directly import the virtual machines of Windows Hyper-V to Linux VMware?

    Thanks in advance,

    It's even easier than that

    Use this: http://www.winimage.com/

Which will convert *.vhd *.vmdk, so you don't need to do all this... Of course, another way is to start the machines, leaving them on Hyper-V and go through the network and process virtual machine as physical machines and do a P2V on the network...

  • Clustering Windows Server 2008 and the STORport driver

    Hi all

I recently read on the documentation for "Setup for Microsoft Clustering and Microsoft Cluster Service".  It says to use the LSI Logic STORport drivers with Windows Server 2008 clustering, instead of SCSIport drivers. I can't find the STORport drivers anywhere.  I can't find this on the LSI Logic's Web site.

    TIA

  • I downloaded the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 180 trial version. How can I get the key?

Hi, I want to install the Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 180 trial version. I downloaded from:
    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/ee175713.aspx

but I don't have the key. How to register and get the key.

    Another question:
Is it possible to install Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 180 trial version as a virtual server on my Windows 7 Home premium version? If Yes, how can I do it, because it seems Windows 7 Home premium version do not support Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 as machine visualization.

    Thank you.

Assessment of any version of the software Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 does not require entering a product key.  Thus, no product key is issued.

  • Allocation maximum vCPU for Windows Server 2008 Enterprise running on vSphere 4 Enterprise (ESXi 4.1)

    Hello

I have a guest of Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (x 64) running on ESXi 4.1 with a vSphere Enterprise license 4. I believe that the comments and hypervisor should be allowed for and support 8 virtual processors, but when I add more than 4 and try to turn on the virtual machine, I get "market of the VM [virtual computer name] Virtual machine has 8 virtual processors but the host only supports 4. The number of virtual processors can be limited by the selected guest OS for the virtual machine or the granting of licenses for the host".

The selected guest OS is 'Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (64-bit)'. There is no option in the drop down menu to 2008, Enterprise Edition.

This configuration is actually supported? If so, what should I do to get it working?

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    Hi Matt.

.. .on ESXi 4.1 with a vSphere Enterprise license 4...

For vSphere 4, you need an Enterprise Plus license if want to create 8 vCPU VMs.
In vSphere 5 will do a license...

  • Import a Windows Server 2008 R2 Core VM in ESXi

    Hello

I try to import a Windows Server 2008 R2 Core computer in my ESXi environment howerver, I'm a shadow copy error.  I also tried to copy the .vmx and hard until my data store files, and then add it in my inventory, however it also wrong on.

What is the correct migration for 2008 Server Core path?

It is a tool of command inside the installation directory WS line

    you use
    VMware - vdiskmanager.exe - r t 4

When finished, you can download the vmdk resulting on esx

    > I found the instructions to run it from an ESX host via command line, but they seem a bit Advanced for my purposes.

This info is terribly wrong - ignore it. the equivalent tool on ESX is called vmkfstools

    Any suggestions?

Yes, if you want to manage power failures on the way down (off), you will need an inverter with a kind of function of network downtime.  I use rackmount APC inverters with their client to stop network installed on each virtual machine.  He takes care to stop the virtual machines.
