ESXi Installable 5 backup

Hello

I am new to ESXi 5.0. I have a dell t310 with raid 10 Server and esxi 5.0 is installed on it.

Is it necessary to back up the partition from the OS installable esxi 5.0? What happens when it is corrupted? What I lose all my esxi 5.0 configuration settings and virtual machines?

Thank you

Yes, which corrects if you have the same build version is much easier and there will be no problem.

Here is the consideration for the use in the difference built version.

We need to see if the built-up version makes a difference with the saved files.

for example... When you migrate from esxi4.1 to esxi5 there are many files got changed this case we cannot use the backup and restore procedure.

so it depends and as a best practice, you can use this backup and restore on the same version of the construction.

  • Cisco C220 M3 - ESXi installation - is ESXi free?

    Hi guys,.

I want to install ESXi Server C220 M3. I think that ESXi is free but I'm not sure. Do need me a permit for the Cisco custom ESXi image?

I also have another server C220 M3 distinct from each other. For this one, I have a license vSphere Enterprise license. Do I need another license of ESXi here?

    Thank you.

At the end of 60 days, to change the 'license' to the ESXi installation to get a perpetual license (with much reduced features) key of VMware.

Basis of VMware and virtuallisation managed with the vi client is included in the free license, but no vCenter and all the goodies that come with it.

  • Move the existing 5.5 ESXi installation of the HARD disk on USB.

I need help on what would be the best approach to move my existing ESXi 5.5 install the HARD disk to the new USB.

Then you tell your environment uses the local disk to your VM data store (s)? In addition, you want to move your partition ESXi to USB and recover the local disk space? I think if it was me, the the more safe thing to do would be to shut down the system, pull on the local drive on just enough to disable / he dethrone, insert the USB key and run ESXi installation. Then (after checking the boot order) reinstall the local disk and boot the system. Once the USB key version boots, make your configurations (DNS, NTP, license etc.) and add the data store (s) existing local drive. You can then add existing virtual machines via "navigation" of the data store (s).

  • Rufus (free utility) takes 2 minutes to create a USB bootable for ESXi installation starting source who becomes the target of the installation, even for 5.5

Just info, one of these open Windows source rare beads that are becoming more and more difficult to find on the web these days, in the middle of a see payloads of downloader.

Rufus I found to be very convenient for the quick creation of a USB flash drive you can start from, and then only install, for ESXi, no command-line stuff to memorize necessary and very fast:

    TinkerTry.com/rufus-takes-2-minutes-to-create-a-bootable-usb-flash-drive-for-esxi-installation

works very well with ESXi 5.5 also:

and when finished with this flash drive and you want to use it for something else (but normal reformatting does not work), she who manages, even on Windows 8.1:

Especially useful for people to start who shy away from Linux VMware procedure:

Windows diskpart commands or potentially dangerous. Really fair, fast and useful for pretty much everyone.

I experienced enormous problems to start with the installer of vmware esxi 5.1 (or 5.0) CD ROM or esxi host 5.1.

What works with the above server:

    * Install it is an os windows 2012 std server on the raid system is executed without absolutely no problems

Start the success of server std 2012 win every time.

    * Setup a esxi host 5.1 on the server, but only subsequently install Fujitsu «server see DVD»

So I don't know what I could do.

Because all windows system works perfectly, I would exclude a hardware error

On the other side, Fujitsu specifies this server with this equipment compatible with esxi, then I do not understand that no esxi (Installer) will be initialize to top.

So, what could be the reason why the software does not start?

How can I know the reason why the systems do not initialize-go to top?

    Please help on this issue.

Since there is no integration PAM for ESXi, you cannot authenticate to ESXi itself using active directory.  -What are you talking about?  You can always have virtual machine with windows and active directory.

  • ESXi Installer 6.0u1a & 6.0u1b not recognizing not not on MacPro 6.1 USB keyboard

I just got 2 new MacPro 6.1, delivered 2 days ago and was aware of the possible SSD being not recognized error but am willing to deal with that. My problem is that once the boots MacPro Setup ESXi charge from a USB memory key and gets all the way to the press ENTER to continue the installation of the keyboard (or any USB device?) seem not to be recognized. I tried with a different Installer .iso 6.0u1a & 6.0u1b, they both exhibit the same behavior. BIOS versions on these seem a little bit newer than what I saw in the nets SSD, so I don't know if another thing Apple that the SSD has changed lately. The version of the BIOS MP61.0116.B16. It does not recognize the keyboard and start the Installer off USB first. I just can't continue the installation. I tried several keyboards as well. Apple, Dell, HP basic keyboards. If I start with it or plug it in once I get started, I didn't even not a NumLock led light. Any suggestions?

    Hi ejerue,

Please use the keyboard USB extender that comes with the Apple keyboard (even if you don't need the extra distance it provides).  It is the typical solution.

  • 5.5u2 on X99s Mpower ESXi installation problem

    Hello world

I have problems installing ESXi 5.5 u2 on a card mother MSI MPower X99S.

    Questions:

No not initially on "out of resources" when loading tools.t00 (think it was solved by loading from a USB drive (UNetbootin used to create) instead of a CD.) Also updated sata-xahci - 1.10 - 1.x86_64.vib)

Now the system crashes just after loading imgpayld.tgz with error "cannot resolve the circular movement".

    The system is as follows:

    Card mother MSI X99S MPower

    I7-5960 x extreme CPU

    64GB DDR4 RAM 2133

    10 * 6TB red WD

permit aboard RAID5 with 6 of the HARD drive.

    She's.

    So, I tried the following:

    Re-download all the ISO images

Looking for esxi implemented x 99 chipset and Intel ICh10r driver but found

Any help is much appreciated and needed!

    Hello world

I managed to solve it in a roundabout way.

I gave the card combination mother/cpu/ram and swapped the Council, ram and cpu out to a different core I7 with 32 GB memory ddr3 Ram.

Installing ESXI on this other configuration (motherboard is GA - X 79 - UD3) I discovered that ESXI captures not software raid created by the bios of the motherboard and I bought an Intel RS2WG160 raid controller and battery, updated the BIOS RAID intel, set up the raid that I needed and installed ESXI without any problem (VIB files after uploading the last VIB for the http://www.v-front.de/2013/11/how-to-make-your-unsupported-sata-ahci.html sata and the technical support site offers Intel)

Once I had installed ESXi, I decided to try to swap the GA - X 79 - UD3 mobo, ram and cpu out with my configuration of origin either the MPower X99s, DDR4 RAM (and I7 CPU 5960 X)

, but without having to re - install ESXI.

It worked perfectly for me at this time there

Bottom line - install the ESXI using another mobo, cpu and ram, then those Exchange and restart.

    Hope that helps others

  • ESXi installation before vCenter Server?  How can I get vCenter Server on a virtual machine on ESXi servers?

My plan for a new vSphere Essentials Plus 5.5 U2a installation is to have the vCenter Server on a virtual machine on the servers of the host on which is installed ESXi.  However, all the installation instructions I found indicate the user to first install the vCenter Server.  How can I get vCenter Server on a virtual machine on ESXi servers?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hi munkyman welcome to communities.

After you have installed your first ESXi host, open a browser and go to https://your-ESXi-ip-or-FQDN

You can download the vSphere Client here. It is a windows application that you can install on your desktop. It is often referred to as the "c# Client vSphere" in communities and blog posts, because it is a new implemented in the vCenter Server Web client.

But for the beginning, install the vSphere Windows Client. You can then launch it and connect directly to your ESXi host. Here you can create your first virtual machine, which can be the VM vCenter (installation of Windows or device, that is you).

You can use the web client or connect to the Server with the client c# vSphere vCenter VCenter runs.
