  Can I use a Mac Mini as a laptop? I mean go to work every day and carry it in my bag, and then connect to a screen. What I mean if a Mac Mini is of solid construction, built to withstand move it every day. The life of a portable device, haha.

  I just got a Mac Mini 2014, 1.4, 1 Tb Fusion Drive. Moreover, it's my first time with the merger in car. I don't know if they are not intended to transport around or as solid as any player.

  Carry a Mac Mini is really not unlike a laptop computer with regards to damage. Don't resist not to serious abuse, a rotating hard disk is probably the weakest regarding damage due to jostling normal.

• UDP communication via secondary ethernet port on the cRIO-9074 problem.

  Hi guys.

  I connected my host pc running LV 2010 my cRIO-9074 port using a main ethernet crossover cable. I want to use the second port ethernet on the cRIO-9074 to read UDP messages, and I want to access these messages on my host. UDP messages are sent from a local network, but for testing I also use a second pc running LV 2010 to send UDP messages.

  I configured the ethernet on the cRIO-9074 ports according to this tutorial: "knowledge base 4E0DGASK: Configure the Ports of double Ethernet on real-time controllers'." " My host and primary ethernet port belong to 'Subnet A' while the second port and the second computer, sending UDP messages belong to 'Subnet B' (at the end of my post I will list the masks of ip addresses and the subnet).

  For simplicity, I used the VI´s of this example as a basis for UDP communication. The "UDPServerOnRemoteTarget.vi", which broadcast messages UDP, will run on the secondary computer. The "UDPClientOnRemoteTarget.vi", which reads messages UDP, will work on my host pc.

  Now, in the 'UDPServerOnRemoteTarget' VI, you must specify two IP addresses (port # remained unchanged at 3363):

  1: the IP address of the ethernet port that will be broadcast UDP messages.

  2: the IP address of the ethernet port that will receive the messages.

  In the #1 case I put the IP address to the IP address of the ethernet on the secondary pc port.

  At the #2 I tried to set the intellectual property: a) IP address of the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO, b) IP address of the ethernet on my host computer port and c) IP address of the primary ethernet port on the cRIO.

  None of the parameters produced results. I also tried to change the port number, which did not help.

  However, if I bypass the cRIO and connect the host pc and the secondary computer directly (by using a cable crossed a regular cat5 ethernet cable), I am able to send and receive UDP messages (the two stand-alone always are on different subnets). I guess that this at least excludes any fault in the VI´s code.

  Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Is it possible at all to read the UDP messages that are sent to the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO my host pc?

  I have searched the entire site OR and forums, but didn't come through all that solved my problem. Most of the other tutorials configuration resembling my case is to import the device sends UDP messages in the project, but which is clearly not possible in my case, or is it?

  My IP settings are:

  cRIO 9074:

  Primary ethernet port: 169.254.62.215

  Secondary ethernet port: 192.168.0.102 (static)

  Host PC: 169.254.58.4

  Secondary PC: 192.168.0.144 (static)

  SubnetMask on all ports are the value 255.255.0.0

  I hope someone out there can help me out.

  Solved.

  Stupid mistake. I was running the VI on the host instead of the cRIO pc, which explains why direct communication between the computers worked. Everything works well when it is compiled for the cRIO.

• A 'Powered USB Port' does not work on Mac Mini

  I have an external POWERED USB multiport block. When I plug the Superdrive into a Port powered on the unit, which of course is connected to my Mac Mini (2012) the Superdrive not even she acts as if it is connected and will not accept a disc. All ports are USB 3.0. I'm so uncertain that the Superdrive will work on any USB port other than the one on the Mac itself. Any advice? I El Capitan installed, but it has worked that way before the upgrade.

I would use an Ethernet connector at one end a DIN 5 pin to a pair of speakers beolab 2500/2300. I don't want to use the PIN audio output on the Airport express, as it is analog.   In other words, for the Express deliver audio analog, connect a standard stereo mini plug with connectors appropriate to the other end.  To ensure that the Express deliver audio digital, plug a mini Toslink cable to the audio port on Terminal AirPort Express.  An example is in this link...   Here's the situation: I have an iBook Clamshell G3 233 MHz 265 MB SRAM 16 MB of VRAM with 1xUSB port 1.1. I need an operating system installed and the only alternative for Mac OS 8.6/9.2 or OSX 10.1 - 10.3, who is eligible for this machine is PowerPC Linux, which I can only install a copy CLI (Command Line Interface only) of Ubuntu, I strongly prefer not to use. I tried all the methods of creation of the copy USB Installer, I mentioned in paragraph three of this post:install OS X 10.0 - 10.3 from USB on Mac New World? for Mac OS 8.6 and 9.2 disks as well. I have the installation disk OS 8 detail (8.6 green disk with large 8 and photo inside the loop at the bottom) as well as the installation of retail 9.2.1 universal disc (with the big orange 9 on the label), however the CD - R drive is completely shot, as mentioned in the above linked post it can read the disks, but it cannot initialize a boot drive and takes an hour to recognize / + 20 minutes to read a disk sector so the direct installation of disk option is completely.

  While unlike the case in the post above, I can actually get my 9.2.1 installer USB disk copy to start, the copy of 8.6 installer refuses to even be recognized in the boot selection menu (Option at startup) and when I boot the 9.2.1 USB install, I get the notorious "the software of the system at boot drive only functions on the not so copied original media on another drive." message.

  Once again using my CD player - R is out of the question.   Mac of this generation will only boot from the internal drive, CD or Firewire.  I just heard rumor a few PPC Macs can boot from USB and it is probably for some OSX version.

  I have a Mac Mini and I use usually 2 screens Dell. Everything worked fine until a couple of days, now the screen plugged into the HDMI port is no longer recognized. I changed monitors around and that did not help. Only the screen plugged on the stroke of lightning to the HDMI adapter works. I tried to use views to detect, but it still does not detect it. I unplugged and re plugged both monitors and restarted my computer. I don't know what else to do or if my Mac Mini is now a lost cause!

  I read that you wrote in your OP several times and no offense not expected however it is not well presented and I find I have to ask the many requests for clarification, however, I will say this...  A Virtual Machine is presented only a wired Ethernet adapter no matter how the host connects to the LAN/WAN and if you need to wired Ethernet and WiFi Ethernet in the Virtual Machine, and then in addition to the default wired Ethernet you can also provide your own card Ethernet Wi - Fi USB to connect to the virtual machine as well as the two available to the virtual machine at the same time.

  If I had to shine up to a 2014, I'd go with the Fusion model.

  Why, because

  1. the only model of HARD drive won't have a PCIe cable and support.

  2. the single PCIe model won't have a SATA cable, and maybe not a disc tray.
