Exadata and 12 c

Hello gurus,

Could someone share what is the difference between Exadata and Oracle database 12 c? As I looked, it does not show only 12 c OEM that supports the exadata environment but there is no database of such 12.

Please correct me if I misunderstood.

Thank you
Amit.

The version of database 12 c has not yet been published - that is to say, it's not GA (it was in the beta program of last year).

Exadata is currently 11gRelease2.

We have a 3rd party application that currently uses triggers and a sequence to maintain the order of transaction. We would like to replace thie logical sequence with a time stamp. We are in the processing of migration to Exada and had a question about timestamp sync on different nodes. For Exadata, what is the maximum time that two nodes will be out of sync. We heard it's 2 minutes nut could not confirm.

Thank you, below, was the response of the Oracle.

Each machine has a different clock frequency and thus derive a slightly different time. NTP calculates this drift of time every 15 minutes approximately and stores this information in a file of "drift", then adjusts the clock system, based on that said drift as compared to a given temporal sys admins - implements. It is the recommended approach.

You can find the value of jitter at the bottom of the order for the difference in time max.

  • Select Insert and bulk collect into exadata

    Hi all

We work in Oracle Exadata. I am new to oracle exacta.  We need to insert some 7.5 million records in our table. My manager who has worked at exadata asked me to insert, select to load the data of 7.5 million records from one table to another. He asked me to forget fired fresh concepts in bulk. I read exadata prefer basic set rank of basic techniques. Is in bulk collect not a technical set base? Select Insert or in bulk which is a better technique, gather to load records from one table to the other in oracle exadata? Please advise me on this issue

  • Exadata as repository for ODI

    Hello

I'm new on exadata and odi 12 c. This is perhaps a silly question - I tried searching but couldn't find an appropriate response.

We plan to use ODI 12.1.3.0.0 with Exadata. Can we use exadata 12 c as a repository for ODI?

In the matrix certification I couldn't find exadata separately.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi JAC,

When you have an Oracle database installed inside your Exadata machine you can surely create repositories ODI in there. ODI repositories are actually sets of tables that should be stored in relational database management systems like Oracle. Other RDBMS systems are also possible to create repositories of ODI, for example, IBM DB2, MySQL, MS SQL Server.

  • Certification Exadata

    Hi all

I would like to get certified Exadata and check different reviews: 1Z0-485 and 1Z0-027.

Is there a study guide for them?

Any suggestion about the details of the review? I mean one is the 'administration' other one 'application', but are they so different?

    Thank you

    Ste

I don't think that there is a study of these two reviews guide. In practice, courses available. To determine the difference in these two exams, you must consider subjects of examination for each review.

I'm new on exadata and I get a chance to work on it

Need for tasks to perform are

    (1) a list of installation check that is to say: How can I see all things are properly installed.

    2) upgrade the exadata OS version.

    3) upgrade the database.

    (4) Migration of database test Oracle to Exadata.

    (5) now he RAC servers are installed without domain name, I need to add the domain name to existing CARS.

Thanks in advance, there is all the documents useful to follow and run easily.

    Some reasons for their recommendations:

  • X 5-2 speed ILOM?

In the documentation of the Exadata and can not find an answer?

    Thank you

    concerning

The network management port (NET MGT), used for the ILOM on X 5 - 2 itself Server supports only a maximum of 1 GbE, support 10/100/1000BASE-T connections. The document I referred above, the second chapter of the Exadata Database Machine Installation and Configuration Guide, refers to that, but perhaps does not quite clear. The documentation of X 5 - 2 server itself to the https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E41059_01/html/E48312/napig.ceggccee.html makes this very clear. What is answer the question, or is it more than that?

  • Quick loss of millions of records in a table with version

    Hello world

We seek for one of our tables versioned delete and contains about 28 million records.  On Exadata and 11.2.0.3.

Normally we would just drag the table, but there is a requirement that we keep a number of documents (about 500 k), complete with the story, so that other components of the system related are not lacking (even if these 500 k will also be removed subsequently).

I did a survey on how we can do that, but a massive factor is to ensure that there is minimal downtime.  A method I've tried is to remove batch of 5 million - if the button Delete merging could take 24 hours in total for each series and we could not afford 6 cases of this.

I also tried DBMS_WM. PURGETABLE, but this seems to take a long time as well (even with no table to archive being created).

Copies the records in another table LT, truncate table source and re - insert the records back in 500 k is an option that we looked at, if not ideal.  I think we would also update wm$ modified_tables for it.

Are there other alternatives that make this possible, or if we were to go down the road of truncated - is there anything else we need to consider in order to maintain the coherence of the WMSYS dictionary?

    Many thanks in advance,

    James

    Hi James,

Would it not possible to simply do the operation to remove directly in LIVE workspace?  This would eliminate the need to merge the workspace.  Truncation operations do not rely on the tables of the activated version.  Nor is face _LT table to a temporary table and the re-insertinig.  The hierarchy of the workspace and other metadata may have changed in the meantime which would make it invalid reinserted data.  Guaranteeing that nothing else changes it would fix, but is not yet all that is generally supported.

Delete that number of lines will take some time little matter method.  How long the procedure PurgeTable did?  It is going to be the approach that should be faster by using features of the Workspace Manager.  In addition, if these lines will be deleted anyway, why not just wait until it is safe to do so and do it all at this point in time?  Then you must conditionally delete lines.  You can simply call dbms_wm. DisableVersioning on the table and then delete it.

  • System engineering management

Oracle provides a lot of engineering systems similar-Exadata, Exalogic, Exalytics, Super Cluster, Oracle, Oracle database appliance data big appliance, Virtual appliance compute, ZFS Storage appliance and zero data loss recovery device. While each of them are for different purposes, there are many points has common as-hardware architecture, support, patches, updates and tracking etc..

I have 3 questions in this context-

    1. If a person knows one of the systems engineering say Exadata, how much effort is required to learn and to take any other view of support?

    2. is there a link/document that shows the difference between these systems?

    3. is it possible or even logical to think of having administrators Exa stack rather than just administrators of database Machine (DMA)?

    Thank you

    Aerts

    Hi AEK.

If you group the systems there are some commonalities

Exadata and Superclusters have in common when it is used as a database server, in that both use Exadata storage. However the supercluster is Solaris SPARC-based system, and therefore, there are a lot of differences from the perspective of the OS and virtualization. ODA is a simpler system and had previously increased complexity of virtualization LMOS, but now that is also introduced in Exadata.

However, if you compare with other systems the skill levels are very different for example Exalogic and Exalytics are quite different. the technology to be deployed on them is weblogic based or in the field of BI. You will not be able to reuse much of the jurisdiction of each other except some basic stuff like infiniband commands ASR installation (although there may be variations here too). When Superclusters is used as a host of application server there are some slight similarities as use of ZFS for storage of the weblogic etc. areas.

Data ZDLRA and Big are still totally different beasts from the software point of view stack, use cases and methodology.

VCA is a converged infrastructure. Again LMOS skills you will be useful, but it's the Mysql-based LMO laer that exalogic and others are based on 3.2 and below and use ORacle DB to the repository database.

    Hope this has helped.

  • Do I have to deploy the module plugin?

    Hi all.

I install EM12cR3 and discover exadata & db.

so I was sent on the db node agent.

now, I'll try to discover exadata and db.

so should I deploy xd & db module plugin on agent?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards.

By default, the Oracle Exadata (oracle.sysman.xa) and the database Oracle (oracle.sysman.db) plug-ins are deployed on your WHO during the installation of the WHO, and parts of the plug-ins needed to discover targets types are deployed to an agent when you install / deploy the agent. So, normally it is not necessary to manually deploy the plug-ins to an agent.

You can ensure that your CMS has the latest versions of the plug-ins Oracle Exadata and database Oracle before discovering targets. From now on, the most recent version of these two plug-ins is 12.1.0.5.

Note: The current version of Oracle Exadata Healthchecks plugin, which is optional, is 12.1.0.4.

  • How-to Setup PCP in the node Application R12.1.3 4

    Hi guys,.

My customer has purchased X 3 new Rack System full Exadata and want to deploy Oracle Application R12.1.3 on server Exalogic as installation Application node 4 with RAC 4 node on Exadata database installation.

Now, I want you configure installation of the CFP according to customer requirement, at the request of 4 nodes. I already have 2 Installation of the CFP node... Not clear on the installation of the CFP drank in Configuration Apps 4 knots.

Can you please describe to the configuration of the CFP need to be done on 4-node Configuration of the AppLication. and some fail over scenarios. to test the configuration of the CFP.

    Your help is definitely appreciated.

    Kind regards

    ROUGIER of Milan.

    Milan,

If you are having 4 CM nodes and use PCP, create two CMs for each CM then put in place of the primary and secondary nodes.

For example, for the standard Manager to create the following:

Standard Manager1--> main node: Node1, secondary node: Node2

Standard Manager2--> main node: Node3, secondary node: Node4

    For a failover, see https://forums.oracle.com/search.jspa?view=content&resultTypes=&dateRange=all&q=Failover+AND+PCP&rankBy=relevance&contentType=all&containerType=&container=&containerName=&userID=&numResults=15

  • Use DCLI

    Hello

I am a newbie on exadata and me discover day after day, all the features. I have question regarding dcli without charge. the Exadata Storage Server software documentation Guide States that: utility dcli facilitates centralized through an Oracle Exadata Storage Server software management

However, it seems to me that you can use the utility to deploy the installation also on toher targets such as compute nodes (db servers). Can someone confirm this?

Is also required to be root to use it?

A second question political Setup to use dcli.

I tried to use it as root on one of the cell to get the basic information such as:

G cell_group cellcli EI list cell DCLI

However I got an error that the utility cannot find the cell_group file. I have searched in all directories on the cel and I wasn't able to find this file or another file named xxx_group.

I missed something? There are a few steps to install dcli?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

DCLI really usable on any system, because it is simply a python script that uses SSH keys to work.  If you do not have a cell_group file, you can easily create one - it's just a text file with the host names of the machines that you want to connect:

    dm01cel01

    dm01cel02

    dm01cel03

I believe that by default dcli uses the user celladmin if none is specified.  You can specify the user with a ' -l' in the command.  Make sure that the user you are using the command with willing dcli of privileges in a newspaper without password with the user account to use.  Do not try using «dcli-l g oracle - dbs_group...» "as the root user, because he won't set up SSH keys to directly connect as user oracle.

Its going to be a long way for this type of sale, let me tell you this. Each product in itself is an ocean and its going to take quite a long time for a novice to get their hands on them. The ideal would be to watch OTN (Oracle Technology Network) Internet Oracle site and find the * faq on each product and also to read technical white papers for each of them. Instead of going for all at once, I would rather the person to read about a product at a given time and also, make him sit and talk with oracle technology consultants who can give a better idea of each product in few words in a face to face interaction.

Yes, you can move from one-eighth to one-quarter. This is intended as an upgrade of the field because the material is already in your machine, but must be activated.
