Example: Pavilion 7610: scanning HP 7610 for MAC

Back to HP 7610 scan 11 x 17.  I have a MAC with OS X El Capitan 10.11.2.  I used the printer including widely w / HP AirPrint.  Scan was fine.  Unit will not scan 11 x 17.  It goes through the movements but no results of the final product.  All available through Apple updates are always incorporated (phone company).

Great machine, otherwise it's a bit slow.

Hi @Durag,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you try to scan your Mac with your HP 7610 11 x 17 printer. I'm happy to help you!

I guess it's a HP Officejet 7610, if the case, please let me know what kind of printer you have. To find product/model number of your printer follow the instructions in this link. Find your model number of the HP product.

What happens if you try scanning without HP software? Please see this post, iMac OS X 10.9.3 scan driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 a A910a to iMac seems to not exist, as these options will work for your printer, on this operating system.

Can someone please help and provide a link to where I can download HP Scan and the software for MAC?

    Thank you very much

    Mast.

    Hi Matt,

I guess that you have one of the latest versions of OS X?

Below is the link to get the software for the Mavericks (10.9) or Yosemite (10.10):

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=MP-125882-3&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4182&product=5070125&sw_lang=

Be sure to check the HP scan option during installation.

If you have another version of operating system do not forget to specify what version it is.

OK, take a look at this document; http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03379337

    Let me know if works

  • Scanning continues to not work for Mac OS 10.6 and 10.7 for all-in-one printer, HP Officejet 6110

Scanning is broken in Mac OS 10.6 or 10.7 for all-in-one printer, HP Officejet 6110. It seems that only old versions of Mac OS will scan. I realize than products account "age" but it's really - poor behavior that HP and Apple cannot support such a function based on a very popular printer.

Information on scanning support is circular at best and misleading at worst. A Bulletin Board suggests the purchase of a third party program to do the scanning 'work' for the Mac. Terrible.

There should be a patch for it. It is really unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of Hewlett-Packard and Apple.

(Forgive me if this sounds like a sales pitch, it is not intended to be, and I'm not in the sale by any means - it's just the logical thinking process, I would in your situation).

    Option 1: Get Vuescan

Pro - you can scan... as long as the printer is working.
Con - given that electronic devices are usually only expected to last 5 years or more, your 6110 could go at any time, hence the need to upgrade. Improved printer support the most recent OS and the need of Vuescan would go, resulting in a loss of $40.

    Option 2 - upgrade
Pro - new product will be compatible current OS with a complete solution, have more physical features than your current product and a warranty.
Con - it's pocket money-, but looking at the Con in Option 1, you could potentially spend AND pay $40 for additional software, so in the grand scheme of things, it would be the least expensive option and best bang for the buck.

These are my thoughts on this subject, take them for what they are worth. Whatever you decide, I hope everything is working well for you and happy that you have found an alternative solution (always nice to have more options)

  • HP Officejet 6600: Officejet 6600 will not scan for Mac OsX 10.5.8

I have a HP Officejet 6600 and I can not scan to my computer that has an operating system Mac OsX 10.5.8.

I understand that the document that I talked to said it is for Mac OS X 10.6, but I assure you that the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.5 operating system. When the page opens select the drop down to "scanner with HP Software". Please do run the supported methods of scanning to check if the scan software and the driver is installed correctly.

Scanning still crashes, please proceed with the troubleshooting steps below.

Step 1: Uninstall the drivers and software:

Can I have it please click here to go through the steps on the reset printing system in your Mac computer. Please follow the steps to "reset the Mac OS X v10.5.x or 10.6.x printing system". The reset each printer to remove it from your computer Mac OS X 10.5, but will not uninstall the drivers. Therefore, if you use other printers on your computer simply ensure that they are connected with a USB cable or network connected and everything just (+) add hide them in. do not add your HP Officejet back in right now.

Please click here to run the appropriate uninstall steps. When this page opens select the drop down to "Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5" and run the uninstall steps listed.

Once the uninstall is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Check and repair your Mac disk permissions:

    1. Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    2. Go to the Utilities folder
    3. Open disk utility
    4. Select the hard disk volume, you use (usually on the left)
    5. Select verify disk permissions
    6. Once this process is complete, select repair disk permissions

Step 3: Check the Apple updates:

    1. Go to the Apple
    2. Select System Preferences
    3. Select software update
    4. Click Update now
    5. Install your available updates
    6. Computer restart

Step 4: Reinstall your software and drivers:

Finally, please click here to download the appropriate drivers for your printer. Once the site opens, select the download button at the top left. Once the download is complete, follow the instructions on the screen to install your printer.

Once the installation is complete, can you please try to print and scan again to verify that your product is properly installed and working properly.
