Excel2010 and Essbase 6.5.1 spreadsheet AddIn

Hello together,

We have a few small applications Essbase with Essbase version 6.5.1 and on the client side, we are working with windows xp and office 2002 (xp).
At the end of this year our windows and office will be changed to windows 7 and office 2010. So I question whether the Essbase excel addin spreadsheet will work with office 2010.

We don t be able to migrate the applications to our Essbase 11.1.1.3 environment, so I need to know if the old version works with the new windows and office.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Martin

Why don't test you the upgrade of the complement for a more recent version that is supported with windows 7 and excel 2010, the add-in must be backward compatible.

See you soon

I installed the client Essbase and spreadsheet Addin 11.1.2.1 on windows XP Professional version 2002 service pack 3. I open Excel and added the Addin essexcln to the path 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\ExcelAddin\bin. When I clicked on Essbase-> Connect nothing happens. When I try to click on disconnect to see this message, he throws, it shows "There no active connection" which is fair enough. But why its not connecting not or at least not to react? Hello

I had the same problem when I installed it (although in a different environment) first unistalling and re - install the add-in worked in my case.
And you are sure that you are using a supported Microsoft excel version. ?

    Hello.

I recently downloaded ODI 12 c (I have a problem with two versions: 12.1.2 and 12.1.3) and installed on a machine. and Essbase v11 on a different server.

as you know, there is no any driver preinstalled for Essbase in ODI and I couldn't find companion package ODI 12 c to Oracle.com.

  • Migrate an application Hyperion 11.1.1.3 EPMA planning and Essbase 11.1.2.2

    Hi all

We have applications EPMA planning and Essbase in environment Hyperion 11.1.1.3 with all artifacts as Scripts, etc. reports for the file, business rules, rules.

Now, we want to migrate these applications to the new installed 11.1.2.2 environment.

Using LCM or don't we have another method to migrate these applications?

    answers would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • What is the difference between EPMA and Essbase Studio

If the two are not used to design applications?

And a really need Essbase Studio?
What is the difference between EPMA and Essbase Studio

^ ^ ^ It's a little confusing, isn't? As far as I understand the role of EPMA, it is a way to share dimensions and common data between several products Oracle EMP including Planning, Essbase and HFM. In fact, I don't know if other products live in EPMA. What is EPMA not have is a great way to supply or manipulate the dimension and fact tables (or files). Oh, there are tables of the interface, but you will write the code/use the utility of dimension EPMA to load dimensions. I must say that I never tried to load through EPMA data so that someone else will have to pronounce on it. Once the dimensions are built, you can deploy Essbase (and other products) of common and specific to the database dimensions.

Studio is the tool you will use to go against a data warehouse, or something terribly close a data warehouse to build Essbase databases. Just for Essbase - HFM, planning, etc. are not the targets of the Studio release.

What gets confusion / intriguing, is that when EPMA deploy Essbase apps, it uses Studio under the covers to do. So the interesting implementations where people use Studio (which is much more flexible than EPMA because it is a development tool as opposed to a dimension/data management application) to read the tables, EPMA interface (and as far as I know, the EPMA base tables) and create Essbase applications like that.

If you think that there is overlap, I agree with you, but you can see that they are not the same.

And a really need Essbase Studio?

^ ^ ^ Do not use Studio to build Essbase databases. You can go hog wild in EAS with loading SQL rules if you want, even if at some point it will be probably easier and simpler to build in the Studio. Although the Studio has been mentioned as the replacement of EAS for awhile, I suspect the effort required to build a database in Studio will keep around for quite a while EAS or Studio Lite will be out. There is a lot to say (sometimes) for the incredible flexibility EAS/Essbase-Studio requires a more methodical approach and EPMA has a very formal set of standards and methods.

Phew, I'm sorry, I wrote a book on this subject and I bet you get a lot of differences of opinion on that.

If you are interested in the Studio, you could do well to take a copy of 'Look smarter than you are with Oracle Essbase Studio 11' of Glenn Schwartzberg. I don't get a penny from the sale while I was among the writers of copy (Hey, I got a mention in the acknowledgements). It's a good book and an excellent introduction to the tool.

  • Best way to migrate (RDBMS and Essbase) planning data between systems

Hello. I need to migrate data from planning (fact data relationship of Planning (time and text comments) and Essbase). Migration of Essbase is relatively simple (migration of Essbase dimension data and then export and reload fact Essbase data) but I'm not sure on the best way to migrate relational data 100% done. Should I do a dump of the schema and then migrating the other system of planning? Thank you.

    It comes to 11.1.1.3.

Like you're on 11.1.1.3 I suggest to use LCM to migrate the planning elements.
An example on how is available at:-http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hyp_ss/SS11.1.1_PLNLCM/PLN_LCM_OBE.htm

  • Planning and Essbase security filters

    Hi all

As I could not achieve security at the cellular level through planning, I changed for this user security filters in Essbase. Is there a problem if the security between planning and Essbase is not synchronized? We are on Hyperion 9.3.1.

    Thanks in advance,
    Prashanth

The only problem you will get really, it's that when you refresh planning with checked filters and then they will be recreated in essbase.

  • Commissioning, provider Services and planning and Essbase

I'm having a problem with users (planners planning) planning and Essbase added to Manager Data Source for a Shared Services provider connection.

Here they are all on 11.1.1.3 and Excel 2003.

I found that I have to configure planners as:
    (1) Essbase for administrators to add Essbase
    (2) shared Services Application creators to add planning

If I don't do the foregoing, when planners are trying to add Essbase or planning (and Yes, I confirm that an Essbase admin means nothing for the addition of a planning server and vice versa for SSP app creator to Essbase), they get a "this operation is not permitted under your APS user account privileges.

I'm desperately hoping that I have made a huge mistake and have neglected an incredibly obvious framework as the provisioning of planners for both roles above is simply not on, especially wrt Essbase.

FWIW, if I add these connections as an administrator, disconnect and then connect to already added connections, everything is fine. However, it is a significant administrative burden and opens all kinds of security, calendar, questions etc.

If anyone has experienced this? And more importantly, figured out how to fix this?

I found a document Metalink re this error but it was around the creation of Smart slices. It is 20 miles down the road where I am right now.

    Kind regards

    Cameron Lackpour

When you add the new server in the source of data for Essbase or planning manager it adds this APS Server and is available for all users. It should only need to be done once, and that is why it is an administrative task.

I may be misunderstanding then please clarify if what I say is meaningless...

  • using ramdisk to speed of rollup and Essbase calculation

Understand that max Essbase can use up to 2G or 4G memory for the calculation, we can use leftovers of RAM in the server to form some temporary disk or others to accelerate the rollup and Essbase calculation?

Oracle database can have some memory based SQL tables to speed up the process. Not sure, that essbase has functionality similar or not.

    Thanks in advance.

What takes longer to your batch process? What is the time of aggregation?

The thing with ASO is that you need to look at it a little differently. Once the data is loaded, you can question him, it should not be aggregated. Granted some pulls may be slower, but it will pull. If in practice, you can load data and allow users to have him while aggregation is running. Aggregation is just a bonus for the best time of the query, because the aggregation runs, query will improve the time.

If your batch processing takes a lot of time during loading data, which is where I see most of the time with my ASO databases, then you must watch other things because I don't know if being run RAM will help a lot with regard to loading data at any given time to write to disk.

If the data loading is your problem, then you must look load pads and break your loading data into pieces to take advantage of parallelism. (I don't think it's a real word)

  • ODI and Essbase: loading of the connection, Reverse Engineering,.

Hi, please heeeeeeeelp me to understand how to connect to Essbase, reverse and load data from a file.

I work with ODI and Essbase for the first time. I read ODI documentationbut he did ' t help.

    I have ODI 10.1.3.4.0
    I have Hyperion and Essbase

ODI, my client ODI and Essbase server are located on different servers.

    I have a working directory.
In the 'topology manager' in "Physical Architecture" under the "Hyperion Essbase", I created "Data Server" and on the definition tab, I did 'Name', 'Server' (with port), 'User', 'Password '.
I have nothing in the JDBC tab.

In the physical schema in the definition tab, I did: "Request (catalogue)', 'database (schema)", "Request (catalog of the work)" (the same as the first), "Database (scheme of work)" (the same as the second).
In the 'Background' tab, I insert a new row and chose the 'context' tha I had created before, and type a new logical schema("").
(When I was creating the context I just filled the 'Name' and 'Code' context (automatically))

Then I want to reverse the data of the engineer.
I opened the ODI Designer, created a new model: Definition tab: 'Technology' = Hyperion Essbase, "Logical Schema" = My_Hyperion_logic_schema
    Reverse tab: 'Context' = My_Hyperion_context

When I try to reverse engineer in the opposite selective tab I get following error:

  • excellent link addins and essbase

    Hi team,
EMP 11.1.2.1 can you please let me know how Excel addins users connect to the essbase Server? It uses the default port 1423 to connect to essbase server when we connect the application of essbase to Excel to retrieve data.

    Thanks in advance.

In a default installation, the add-in to the departure comes in contact with the agent Essbase 1423 and is then connected to the individual Essbase application using ports in the range 32768 to 33768.

See also AGENTPORT, SERVERPORTBEGIN and SERVERPORTEND in the technical reference information. If the default values have been configured you will see these settings in the file Essbase.cfg corresponding to your installation.

  • Timestamp and barcode in a .xls spreadsheet

Hello, I'm pretty new to programming in Labview and I have a few questions that I must have worked. I use a 'Prompt for user input"asking for a code bar units if there is a failure. When the message invites I so the user scan a barcode and it must be sent in a .xls file. Numbers go in the .xls file but I use bar codes have dashes (-) in them, and when these bar codes get swept Labview sends a zero in the worksheet. If I send manually numbers they will write to the spreadsheet. I also need a time stamp of when the barcode was scanned to get written to the worksheet as well.  Any suggestions?

Looks like you should show the entrance to warn the user as a string instead of a digital if you want to keep the dashes. Use a function to get a string of Date/time with the command prompt.

  • Pitcher of Web what EAS-console stuck like window empty. Problem with version 7 of Java at day 45 and Essbase 11.1.2.3.

For Essbase 11.1.2.3 and java until version 7 update JRE 40, Regional service console to start normally through web Launcher on our server "ourserver:XXXX / easconsole" java web start (with the generated jnlp automatically provided by essbase installation).

Once we have updated to the 7 45 java update, the web version of the regional service console boot opens as a blank window that is not responding. You cannot yet close by hitting (x). The only way to close it, is through the Task Manager by putting an end to the aim of process as javaw.exe.

Of course there are changes to the security for this java update 45, and there are some threads in this forum about edditing the bowl of the linked files and - or the jnlp in order to save the jnlp, but which is out of the question here, because these are the files shipped and provided by oracle essbase installation.

    In more detail:
When we start to the Regional service by web Launcher console we of course get the security warning message to run this application or not, but but in addition there is a yellow textbox that says:
"This request will be blocked in a future update of Java security because the manifest files JAR does not contain the permissions attribute. For more information, please communicate with the Publisher. More information"(of course, Oracle)

After hitting the race and looking at the java console
We get for each related to these three messages jar file:
"" Missing application name: manifest attribute to: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/eas_client.jar".
"" Missing permissions manifest attribute to: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/eas_client.jar".
"" Manifest attribute missing Codebase for: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/eas_client.jar".

"" Missing application name: manifest attribute to: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/essbase_client.jar".
"" Missing permissions manifest attribute to: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/essbase_client.jar".
"" Manifest attribute missing Codebase for: http://ourserver:xxxx/easconsole/essbase_client.jar".

    .........................
    ........................
    ........................
    and so on.

Opens the window of the service console regional but empty with no title (with only the green little essbase cube in the left corner of the title bar)
When we try to close the window, we get "java.lang.NullPointerException" messages which state that some events of java (unknown Source) in the Java console. Obviously because the jar files are, (I understand and correct me please in this), not entirely accessible, hence the lack.

Then we uninstall the JRE 7 45 update and install the JRE 7 25 update (we also tried the 40 update) and everything works normally again.
Just for curiosity, uninstall us JRE 7 u25 and install the updated JRE 7 45... BAM... the same mistakes.

Just to make sure update 45 in Panel java to java Cache viewer application has the name 'Oracle Essbase Administration Services',
and in the Security tab there is the certificate issued to the "Oracle America, Inc." in confidence. We also set the security level to 'medium '.
(the steps above occurred on the client pc)

We tried the same thing on our server of windows with the JDK and still the same symptoms.

Of course this change in specific security will continue to be in future versions of Java.

    If anyone has experienced this?

  • Hyperion Planning and Essbase

I have a question about how essbase is related to hyperion planning.  specifically, I would like to know if you can vectorize in essbase and then associate them with or have them cross to a hyperion planning an application.  I read that if you make a change to an essbase outline, and then refresh the hyperion application applications settings, including an outline, will be replaced.  It seems that master control is integrated with EPMA or hyperion planning because all the dimension and the main lines of work needs to be done here.  However, it seems to me that there may be times where you want everything works on and change the contour in essabase and have changes go through the application of EPMA, because it's maybe easier.  Is this true and if so, how do the changes so that they appear in the hyperion application that was created by EPMA.

The flow is planning for Essbase, it cannot be reversed.

If it's a planning request EPMA then the stream is EPMA > planning > Essbase
