.exe and .dll on the surface

I have developed applications personal wpf with visual studio 2010.

I understand that visual studio cannot be installed on the surface, but my applications would go?

Thank you.

Only applications on the store of Windows will run on Windows RT. You might be able to sideload apps on your surface, but they must be Windows store applications, not regular Windows executable applications.

  • Slow queries in executable on the Surface of Win8

Having a problem with an executable file using LV 2013 and connectivity toolkit.  Exe works fine on my Win7 32 bit machine and the code works well in development on Win 8 Surface mode.  Functioning as an EXE file on the same winning 8 Surface is extremely slow (factor of 20 or so slower that the mode of development on the machine either EXE or on Win7 machine).

    I see a variety of positions "to do something special with EXE using connectivity tools" but they are all<2006 and="" the="" exe="" works="" fine="" on="" win7="" machine="" so="" i'm="" thinking="" they="" "something="" specials"="" are="" not="">

Pointing to a localhost MySQL database. Database contains about 15 tables and no table has more than 10 k lines.  Does nothing exotic in queries and there is not many of them, like going from databases. Multiple queries (but maybe not all of them, I'm not sure) involving different tables are slow.

Have tried (all to no effect):

1] connecting to a remote instance of MySQL with the same data

    2] recompile the EXE file

    [3] restart of the Surface

Am trying another Surface. Will also try to compile on the Surface (it is currently compiled on Win7-32 and settles to the Surface of Win8 64).

    Hello girl,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What is the exact error code or message that you receive, when you say 'Explorer.exe '?
    2. Exactly when you receive this error message?
    3. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    4. When you say, "preparing your desktop", you see no latency during the Windows logon?

According to your description, the question may arise due to file system corruption. Thus, I would you recommend to disconnect all the external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard, restart your computer and check if your screens hung up on "preparing your desktop". Apart from this, I would suggest trying the following solutions and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

The opening of explorer.exe, if you get the error "Server execution failed", then I suggest you to try the hotfix in the following link and check the issue.

Error message when you try to start Explorer.exe in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2: "Server execution failed".

If this method does not address your problem, try the next method.

    Method 2:

Try to run a scan of the file system (CFS) auditor to check any file corruption:

    1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
    2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, click OK, or alternatively click on Yes.
    3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

For more information, refer to this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

    Additional information:

To check for freezing explorer.exe and latency on the Windows form, see the following link.

8.1 Windows, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes

Antivirus warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Think like a malicious software...
It infects your system and is not to be found and removed.
What are you most likely to use to find and remove malware?
Internet, Google, Task Manager, regedit, restore the system command prompt, etc...
The malware is often afflicts one or more of these components to try to trick into thinking you need to perform a system restore, a repair facility, or even to reinstall your XP from scratch.  None of these things are necessary since you can usually just to thwart malware.
If the referenced files are completely absent from your system, you will see messages like this when you try to run the applications:
Taskmgr.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because VDMDBG.dll is not found.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Rstrui.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found.  Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Sometimes you can click through the OK messages to access the System Restore screen, but the restoration of the system is still broken.
If the referenced files are present on the system, but somehow corrupted, you will see messages like this when you try to run the applications:
    Taskmgr.exe - bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\VDMDBG.dll is not a valid Windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.
    Rstrui.exe - bad Image
The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\framedyn.dll is not a valid Windows image.  Please check this against your installation diskette.
Sometimes you can click through the OK messages to access the System Restore screen, but the restoration of the system is still broken.
These files are part of the file 3498 who cares about Windows File Protection, so unless the WFP is also broken it is likely that files are missing completely (you get a different error message).  What is more likely is that the files are somehow corrupt or have been replaced by incorrect files.
Assuming that XP is installed on your C drive and in the windows folder, XP keeps copies of 3498 files that he cares about this issue:
    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache
On a health care system, Windows File Protection keeps track of 3498 protected files and quickly and quietly replaces all the files in the list that appears missing from the backup folder.  File protection Windows will not replace the files if they are somehow corrupted or replaced by bad files.
You can simply copy the backup files in the dllcache folder in the folder where are the suspects or missing files.
Using Explorer, navigate to the folder c:\windows\system32\dllcache and individually to copy the backup files in there and then navigate the folders where the suspect or incorrect files are and paste in the copied files.
Depending on your installation, you can also find copies of the files in this folder:
    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
Answer Yes, if you are prompted to replace existing files.
Test your functions now and then to reboot your system to make sure the changes 'stick', and then fix any problems.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I need YOUR voice and the points for helpful answers and propose responses. I'm saving for a pony!

Try to use the compatibility options to run the installation - the game is designed for Windows 98, but try different options and if that does not work:

  • File protection Windows keeps asking me to reload SP3 disk and something on the DLL Cache...

I downloaded the Windows XP Service Pack 3, just today, thinking that it would help the difficulty of "windows file protection" window continues to display up to

whenever I connect and the office, icons, etc... then, after about a minute or two, it asks me to "recharge the cd" and something to

do with the DLL Cache... I do not have the disk, and the download does not solve the problem... I think about a month or two ago I accidentally

deleted some windows files that are needed to solve this problem... I'm not a computer genius, but I was not able to understand

How to solve this problem... I did a system restore when the question first happened w / in a week or two, and that has not helped... what should I do to fix the windows

    missing files...

    God help us all...

If you installed SP3 (it's a good thing) and do not a CD bootable XP installation genuine with XP on it, running sfc/scannow will not help you and he will complain - a lot.   Sometimes, when he starts to complain, it is difficult to stop.  This does not mean that anything is wrong with your system if necessarily.

It is unlikely for the typical poster in the MS Answers forums with the system store bought to have a XP installation CD everything--much less one with SP3 already on it.  Why MSE suggest things?

    Still no takers?  ---->>

If you have an XP installation CD bootable real of a plu SP, you can make a new XP installation CD with SP3 on it by a process called "slipstreaming" (sorry - there is no KB article for the Ministry of Education to post on how to do it).

    To your question:

When you see a message like this:

    Windows file protection
Files which are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions.  To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

I hope that you are curious to know what is the file and when you know that, you can decide what to do about it.

You must click Cancel, and then click Yes to keep the file, then you will have an event to watch which will tell you what the problem is the file.

Search where you sign in to see what is the name of file system Viewer, then decide what to do.

When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source.  The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').

The event will look something like in this example:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Windows File Protection
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 64005
    Date: 10/01/2011
    Time: 14:41:56
    Description:
The protected system file taskmgr.exe had not been restored in its original, valid version because the Windows File Protection restoration process was cancelled by user interaction, user name is Jose.  The file version of the bad file is unknown.

When you know what the file is, you can decide what to do about it.  There may have other copies of the files on your system or you can get the files from another source - anyone can download the file (s) you need for their SkyDrive and you can download and replace the files one at a time.  First you must understand what the file is that XP thinks he needs.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

Check your event observer system log and look for a proposed Windows file protection event.

When in the Viewer system event log, click the "Source" column header to sort the events in alphabetical order by the name of the Source.  The events of "Windows File Protection" must be near the bottom of the list (because they begin with 'W').

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

It could also be that your antivirus/antimalware program is off data and has quarantined (actually deleted) files.

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
