• Satellite A200-1AB - computer initializes partially

  Hi all

  My satellite A200 - 1AB that partially goes to market and all I get is a black screen before the computer showing the log on screen. I am running Windows Vista and I wonder if anyone can help?

  With the power cord plugged in, I press the button and the computer begins to initialize. I see the Windows Vista "loading bar" that scrolls from left to right and then the screen turns gray (with back-light black) and I don't see anything except the small blue on light.

  I tried pressing F8 and choose 'last good config known' but which does not always work - get a black screen.

  I managed to start the computer in safe mode (to restore), but the success of the startup in safe mode is random.

  I noticed that if I leave the laptop for about 30 minutes or so things work a little better and I can get the computer to work in safe mode for example for at least 5 minutes or similar. Initially, I thought it was the cooling fan, but who still works and I cleaned using an air blower.

  Can anyone help or make a suggestion on what could be the problem?

  No one knows what would be the fastest possible processor I could put in an A200-1AB or where I might be able to find the information.

  It comes with a c2d T5300 which is 1.7 ghz/533bus... I hope that it can take 667bus chips speed but for the life of me can not find information on the mother or this card that it accepts.

  I have a Satellite 1110-z14 laptop. It came with 256 MB of Ram, and I will be increased by adding another module of memory in an empty slot. The specifications of the machine to say can I increase the Ram up to a maximum of 512 MB but the describtion on the Toshiba site say I can increase up to 1024 MB, which conclusion is right.

  It should be possible to upgrade the memory for max 2048 MB.
  There are 2 slots of memory and you can use two max 1024MB modules.
  As you say the unit uses DDR2 400/533 memory strips and I guess you can only use this type of memory module.
