F4440 - grinding noise

F4440 - replacement cartridges.  now I get a horrible grinding noise.  no paper jams, cleaned rollers and cartridge heads.  even tried another new black cartridge.  transportation seems a little tilted

Hello clarkcjtpw,

It seems to be a hardware problem that requires the printer to be repaired.

Anyway try the procedure below...

  1. While the printer is ON, take away all the cartridges.
  2. Check and delete if there is a piece of paper stuck close TRANSPORT (door-cartridge).
  3. Move the carriage (manually) from left to right and then right to left.
  4. Turn the printer OFF.  Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  5. Wait 30 to 60 seconds.
  6. Plugin the power cord and turn on the printer.
  7. Install the cartridges.
  8. Try to print, check if the grinding noise has been reduced.

If the problem persists, then call the HP Technical Support...

If you are in the United States, the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .

If you're not in the United States, and then connect to www.hp.com , bottom left it is an icon of the world map, click it and then select the region that you belong to, which would then provide the support options for you for this region.

Kind regards

  • HP Pavilion G7: Fan of grinding noise?

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion G7, and he had problems with fan for a few months now. It will start making a grinding noise and sometimes disappear. Lately, however, it has not disappeared. I removed the keyboard and tried to suck dust, ran some tests system, pilots resettled... nothing works! In addition, it is certainly the fan, not the hard drive. Need help please, without this computer, I can't do my homework, continue to save games.

    Hey @PyreticFyre ,

I would check the implementation of the fan, just to ensure something does not rub. I would also test the HP Diagnostic as it can help to diagnose a piece failed hardware in the laptop.

  • OfficeJet 6700 gear grinding noise and paper jam

When turned on, our 6700 OfficeJet 6 - months, goes through the boot process, makes a gear grinding noise and finally stops with an error message of paper jam.  I went through all the steps to remove a paper jam (there was no paper to clear) except the cleaning rollers.  It of as if the gear in the duplex unit is not quite the tail with his partner in the printer, but not sure.  I checked to make sure that the rollers turn freeling.  The duplexer gear is a little tight, but it does not move.  Any ideas?

It seems that this printer has developed an internal problem.  From the sounds of it, the issue is the release mechanism for the transport of the print head.

There is a document to help out the noisy operation found printer here.  This can have a few extra steps for troubleshooting paper jam you have already done.

I would also try re-allocation of places the duplexer if she appears out of alignment.  However, if the problem persists, then it will be a hardware problem that the next step is replacement of the product.

If you are still in warranty, HP can replace the printer without cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link takes you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it and she is treated, it will give you the printers warranty information, a file number and the phone number to call.

  • ProBook 4530 s: grinding noise near the vents when I turn on the laptop.

Sometimes when I turn on the laptop, a loud grinding noise is heard from the left corner, near the vents.  I think that's probably the fan.  I turn off the laptop because it doesn't seem like grinding stops.  Then when I turn it on again, grinding noise disappeared.  The fan needs to be replaced, or when the fan needs to be replaced?  Is this easy to do?

Alternatively, the problem could be something else?

I guess I'll try to do that, but the noise I hear is very strong, as something very bad is grinding

This could be the lack of fan or some a little debri is inside the unit that should not be there.

  • HP ColorLaserJet 2840 - engine scanner at startup grinding noise

    Hello

I have a HP ColorLaserJet 2840 PCL series and I bought it in 2008.

It has worked great.  A couple of years ago I had to replace the 'fusion' in the unit because he would not be commissioning more.

    No problem.

My last problem is that when I turn it on and it goes through all of its audits, when it gets to control the engine scanner (where the bulb scanner goes back and fourth small quantities before he finishes coming) the engine scanner will start to do a sort of "grinding" noise, like it is stuck.

He's going to do for about 30 seconds and then fail with "error scanner Error #5".

It was first of all a few days ago I could stop all unplug, wait and restart.

    That is all good.

It restarted several times over the past few days and it worked ok.

Now, however, he won't return to the top before this problem.

I think the engine to scan on the scanner bed is maybe bad.

I'm looking for some other opinions.

Has anyone else had similar issues like this with this printer model and what are the possible solutions.

    Thanks in advance,

    Please check at http://partsurfer.hp.com

As this is an older device, so you will need to look for availability of local dealers part HP or other sources also.

You can also contact the regional support of HP and check if the product is still supported and try to get repairs.

  • HP dv7-6163us Fan 'Grinding' noise just started happening

I have a HP dv7-6163us Entertainment PC. Here are the specs = http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02863099

So, I encountered a problem with this computer after updating the Web site of VIA HP driver. This update has been advised I did. It has also helped make my computer more efficient. I don't know if it was what he did, but I'm sure that at 90% - my fan is now making a grinding noise weird noises every once in a while. After a while, it got worse, and he is VERY strong now. I'm not really send it because it will take a while... So if you guys can help do it please!

    Thank you

    Connor

You would not keep driving your car if the brakes were made a squeak, right? I doubt that the software update had nothing to do with the fan noise. Just a coincidence. Try bow on a trombone. Stick to the fan to keep the spinning fan blades and blowing in compressed air and see if the dust flies. Sometimes this lead a fan and let it run better. If this does not work, you have to have the fan replaced; I'm sorry.

  • Grinding noise every 3 seconds on the left side of my laptop

Hello, I just bought a HP touchsmart pavilion N229tx last week and I noticed now that it has started creating noises grinding every 3 seconds every time my laptop is turned on and running. The noise comes close the wind where the air is supposed to come out.

What should I do with this problem?

Also when I bought the laptop and it opened the first time that I continue to have the fan error when starting, saying that he had found that the fan is not operational I think you're mistake 90 b. This product whenever I turn on the laptop.

Try a hard reset as follows:

    (1) remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
    (2) press and hold the power button for more than 15 seconds.
    (3) plug the DC power adapter (leave the battery for now)
    4) press the power button

Who can fix the error message.

To solve the noise that could be linked to the fan, you will need to contact HP warranty service. HP Service centre may replace the CPU fan.

It is always useful to include the number of the full product. You left out the first two digits and the hyphen.

  • grinding noise when my HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475 calibrates

When my color HP LaserJet Pro 400 MFP M475 recalibrates, I get a grinding or gear sliding noise.  No idea how to fix it or what to look for?

Noise problems are difficult to troubleshoot remotely and they could easily mislead even when we are near the unit.

Please confirm if the noise is a squeak or a noise squeky/hum.

As you mentioned that this happens only during calibration, it is why I suggest you to double check & validate your toner cartridges.  Among the toner cartrdige is maybe defective and causing this problem.

If not the toner cartridge, then it would be one of the components of hardware printer that is at issue, where a Tech HP may need to perform a physical inspection of the aircraft and the error condition.
