Faces random restart disaster photos

For nearly a decade, we have used our iPhoto as screen saver library on our iMac 2008 and identified thousands of faces among our 20 K photos. A month ago, we bought a replacement iMac and Apple just told me to throw all this time spent ID'ing faces if I want to stop the new iMac to restart randomly. He did this on average once a day like us he plugged. So we just put discarded 10s of 1000s of ID on 811 different people that my wife and I have spent years ID'ing. Apple, people say there is a corruption happening with the program faces in the Photos used as screen saver (or maybe not) it's trigger these random reboots, based on the journals of captured data, that I sent them a week ago. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem. I also wonder if there is a way to "Rename" all these faces runs to leave everywhere, assuming that solve us the problem of random reboot. Ideas are appreciated. I never realized how good iPhoto was until Apple replaced it with incredibly-creatively named pictures developed but incredibly bad (try googling 'Photos' to help... Apple tells me to Google 'Photos Mac', which only highlights the bad thought behind rename it). Thank you!

Do you still have a backup of the photo library of until you have removed the names of faces?  I would put the faces identified by writing them to the photos as keywords.

You could open each of your albums of 811 faces, select all the photos in the album, then announces a keyword with the name of faces. That will make it easier to recreate the names to faces if you remove the tags of faces.

Yes, there are a few newspapers posted crash here with unexplained and panic crashes happening during playback of albums of faces.  I would not sacrifice named faces, however. At least keep a backup, then you can begin only when the next macOS Sierra will be released this fall. It has a totally different treatment of the faces, and I hope that the new code will no longer have this bug.

Apple people say there is a corruption happening with the program faces in the Photos used as screen saver (or maybe not) which is the outbreak of these random reboots.

If the screen saver is the cause, you could avoid using your photo library as a source for the screensaver for the time beeing. Perhaps export just your Favorites in a folder on the desktop and use it as the source of the screen saver.

  • 6 s iPhone randomly restarts after updating iOS 9.3.5?

Yesterday I updated to iOS 9.3.5, and today it will randomly restart 3 times. What he does everything first, is that when he makes a phone call or notification, it turns to a screen color static, fades and restarts. It's getting very boring, I already have ideas of devaluation.

I'm new to this, I don't know where I should post this. Forgive me if I posted this in the wrong community.

You posted in the right place...

Try to hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. You won't lose anything.

If that doesn't help, try a system restore. First save your device via iTunes. Also import your photos on your computer and copy all the data if possible. Reconstruction of the support first test and test. If this does not help, you may need to restore as a new and reconfigure from scratch as the backup may be damaged. It is important to have your photos and your saved data separately from the backup. Here are the steps for a restoration:

If the steps above do not help, you may need to test in an Apple store.

  • Mac Pro 2013 randomly restart problem

    Hello

Here's my problem: I have a Mac Pro end of 2013 (6 cores, 16 GB ram, over-pants D500, running OS X 10.10.5 with a WACOM Cintiq 21 - UX as my view only) who has, for the last month or so been randomly restart itself.

There are some days where it might be three or four times and then days where it won't do it at all. Also there are moments where it works well for hours, but then if I turned off the Mac Pro, it will crash and restart. Sometimes it will freeze momentarily application-wise (but the cursor moves but does nothing) before it restarts but usually just the screen goes black and then it restarts without any warning. I still get the black screen with the «your computer has restarted...» Press any key' and of course, it generates a crash report that I submit to Apple every time (that I'll post more recent one below as well.) I did start secure upward, reset the PRAM, booted single-user, just that I found online to do which is recommended. But nothing seems to have done something to help.

The Cintiq is connected through a DVI adapter to Thunderbolt. I also have Mercury Elite Dual Pro Rack hung RAID normally via Thunderbolt. There are times when I think that there is a problem with the RAID box and the Mac Pro but not sure. As there is a problem with the Thundebolt ports. I tried to pass the cables autour, but it has not seemed to have made all the difference. This also has all seems to have coincided with the last update of OS X where I've also updated the driver for WACOM Cintiq (I since past to the old driver). Is this all just a matter of software conflict?

I found an Apple Support thread where someone has indicated that a Kernel Panic may cause this, but then it also seems similar to what I've found, that was the issue with the Macbook Pro, which had problems with graphics a bit backward.

In any case, here's a crash report if it helps and thank you for any help that anyone can send my way!

My iMac has been randomly restart itself (about once per day) when it is idle.  Everyone knows the same problem?  I found a YouTube video and that's exactly what happened to my iMac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka7lUIeiH5E

I attended once - the computer was in (not sleeping) with the screen off, nothing CPU/GPU intensive market.  I suddenly heard a chime and saw that the computer restarted itself.  I logged.  There is no window pop up.  I launched the Console and did not see anything unusual before the reboot.

    More information:

    1. The computer is idle when restart occurs.  Nothing on the computer indicates overheating.  Display is off (for inactivity) and fan is quiet.
    2. There is no trace of the software stop, panic the kernel or crash.  System log shows the normal activities, and then a sudden entry BOOT_TIME, as if someone pulls the power cord.
    3. It is not a failure, because the computer must be turned off if this is really a power failure.  "Start automatically after a power failure" is not checked.
    4. It started happening after I came back from a trip and upgraded my iMac to the latest Mac OS X five days ago.  This computer was purchased in October and I had never seen anything like this until a few days ago.

Comments on the YouTube video suggests a total prosthesis, but I hesitate to do so if it turns out to be a software/firmware problem that can be fixed. -The computer is heavy and the closest Apple Store is not very close, not to mention the efforts of backup/restore.

    Thank you

Seems to be a problem with 10.11.4. No doubt you did not have this problem before installing 10.11.4

Further discussion on this issue here: 5 k iMac restarts on its own after you install 10.11.4 unexpected restart

I think it is highly unlikely that it is material, as all signs point to a software problem (no problems before the update to 10.11.4 and everyone does the same behavior (unexpected random reboots) and the error code ('previous stop cause - 128' - which nobody seems to know what that means exactly) after updating to 10.11.4.) In any event, hardware problems usually come right out go the box or after tinker you with the machine somehow like the installation of ram, add devices, etc. and later, you start to experience unexpected behavior. None of this seems to happen with this issue.

I own a MacBook Pro 2013. The last 2 months he was randomly restart on me. It is always preceded by a graphic deformation of the screen. Essentially, the Tufts of the vertical lines appear on the screen, the mac freezes for a few seconds and then restarts. My hypothesis is that it is a hardware problem. I have already installed the new RAM bars (apple approved). Note that I started my mac with Windows 10 and this issues occurs if I'm under windows or OS X El Capitan double.

If your MBP is a model 15 "beginning 2013, it may be applicable:

I am running Windows XP sp3, out of nowhere, my computer started to randomly restart. What to do with the tools I have to try to find what is wrong?

    Hello ccsmudge,

Often, we see crashes as a result of a program from loading at startup.
To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.
    The following describes this process:

In addition, if you can zip the contents of the c:\Windows\minidump folder and put it on a public folder to http://skydrive.live.com , then we can take a peek to see if and why we are bluescreening and restart all of a sudden.

  • Strange random restarts. How to troubleshoot?

My phone randomly restarts while he sits there not meant not. It's very strange and I'm starting to believe it's a bug in the firmware so I ask you to report it to the dev team. Basically, the phone will reboot and it is she, but not a complete reboot, because he asks pin code, it will be just close all applications, the start animation playback and return to the lock screen. The only way to say it happened is either to lean on the phone as it restarts or planned audit to the diagnosis-> system incidents. My phone is completely stock and I have nothing too weird installed that would mess with the system. She was given factory and renovated.

Here's a thread I made on the question
    http://Forum.xda-developers.com/Z3/help/how-to-check-stealthy-random-reboots-t3178734

Please let me know if there is a way to solve the it, IE find out if it's one of my apps causing, if this is a known problem, etc., it becomes quite annoying to know that the phone can restart at any time.

    Short answer: nobody knows.

Long answer: it may be hardware related. I know that a friend of mine on a Z3C isn't the issue. I have a new phone now considering that it is highly unlikely that both phones have the same problem, if the reboot happens again there must be software related. And its software, M Android happens then maybe it won't happen on M.

I'm a Mac "veteran" (since 1994) user, but the recent behavior of my iMac end 2015 27 "5 K told me at the end of my piece:

After initial installation and configuration, the iMac just started rebooting randomly during the night. (It remained always off, never sleep.)

The only "smoking gun", I could find was the following:

localhost kernel [0]: cause of previous stop:-128

I talked to AppleCare a couple of times, my case has since been pushed up on their level 2 support. So far - no solution found.

Here are the things I've tried (I think that I have...):

    • Reset the SMC
    • Reset the PRAM
    • Most threaded the LaunchAgents and LaunchDemons
    • Re-installed Mac OS X 10.11.3
    • Implemented a new white 'test' user and restarted in Mode safe
      • Even in the 'Safe' Mode, strange things happen: after the rest (as a user 'test') for a day of two, the iMac "crashes" i.e. the screen remains empty and mouse or keyboard or "Power On" button on the back of the iMac are able to wake up the machine.
      • Also in 'Safe Mode' I get these trucks:
[watchdog_daemon] @(wd_daemon_init) - could not open connection with the watchdog of the kernel

Short of "nuking & paving" the machine, has anyone got any ideas of what might help?

Or it sounds like a hardware bug?

    Any help appreciated,

Hi, I have a laptop HP Windows 8.1 and I noticed after I did the update to the BIOS of HP Support Assistant, it restarts randomly without any error message.  Is it possible to restore the BIOS if it is a BIOS problem?  The computer works fine but it restarts randomly each time than in quite awhile.

When you restart the laptop you see error messages?

You can restore the BIOS to the previous version by using the firmware management option in PC UEFI diagnostics.

Plug the AC adapter and press the power button.

Immediately, press the ESC key to call the start menu.

Now, press the F2 key to enter the diagnosis.

    Choose firmware management.

In the management of the firmware, you should see the option to restore the BIOS. Select it and let it do its job.

Very well with the color normal and all Windows start. Then all my startup program loading, turn it to this http://postimg.org/image/ylmfzypz5/. Then, whenever I click on something, the discoloration worsen until everything is pink, then it restarts randomly. I try to start in safe mode, which was fine and remove and then reinstall the driver of my gpu. The same problem. I don't know if this mess with her or not, but since yesterday, I had installed 8.1 and randomly it froze, restart and then got stuck in a restart loop when the screen goes black and restart after the first screen with option. I did a clean install of windows and it's still does not resolve so I tried to install windows 7 instead. Now this problem pop up.

No new material ore removed material, no new drivers installed, problem just pop up and I've never seen before.

  • To highlight two different faces in a group photo.

In a picture of a bunch of 1899, I want to emphasize two faces--one on the left and the other on the right.  When I tried to create a second mask to the right side, the left was darker.  I am a crazy blonde Lady of 67 who learns that After Effects therefore describe in understandable terms.  Thank you.

Of your responses, I think you should start here: Basic AE

It is almost impossible to understand AE by simply poking around in the user interface.

If you have a group photo and you want to highlight the faces, you can add a solid gray, set the blending mode to multiplication, addition subtraction of two masks in mode for drilling holes in the solid so you can see the faces and then add the edge effect to draw a line around the circles. Then just animate the opacity.

You could also get fancy and use a pair of circular layers created with the ellipse tool, a matte on an adjustment layer and a bunch of other things like turn whole image black and white, except for the two sides.

You can also use an image that is twice the size of your comp, duplicate the layer of film twice, hide the two faces you want to show that they are each on a separate layer, Center the anchor points of each layer on the face and then step up both sides, so they are larger in the frame. Throw in something like shadow or edges to complete the design of the bevel.

If you're new to AE, then nothing of what I have said is clear and well you need to start with the link in the first sentence of my response.

To post a picture here, you can either use the toolbar at the top or just drag a picture from your desktop or the finder in the field of response on the forum.

  • Random restarts Macmini 5.2 2011

I have a Mac Mini 2011 5.2, which has begun to restart several times a day.

He put to restart after power failure, so I wonder if I actually got to see power failure.

I tried to boot from an external hard drive with a completely clean install (same OS: 10.11.6) and leaving it, but restarting keep coming.

I also tried Resetting PRAM and PMU, but that does not change.

The only crashlogs to left behind come Crashplan, but assured me (Crashplan support) that they are objects of the accident rather than Crashplan being the cause.  I think that this is supported by the following lines of the paper this morning:

PowerStats for: CrashPlanService [56] thread 0x2d4e

    UUID: XXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXX

    Start time: 2016-07-31 02:58:40 + 0100

    End time: 2016-07-31 03:00:24 + 0100

    Parent: launchd

(Although it should not change anything) I did a clean install on the internal hard drive, and nothing changes.

I ran TechTool diagnosis on all hard drives and RAM and nothing shows as problematic.

I also ran EtreCheck (results below), and I don't see anything obvious.

My suspicion is that the power rather than the motherboard is due to everything behaving quite normally when I actively use the machine.  Strangely, I have not met a reboot when I actually used it.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Well, at least the crash logs show you when the reboot happened. You can search for what is happening in these specific times by checking the Console. Search also in Diagnostic messages and the use of tab.

Any particular registered around these reboots?
