fact time server backup recovery n questions

I HAV a doubt as the server time important in backup recovery n?

Scenario:

database full backup (rman) completed at 05:00 after 1 hour (i.e. 06:00) os admin changed the time on the server at 05:00.

After 1 hour crashed.how of database we can recover the database.

Here the server has n 05:00 06:00 twice

Kind regards

Hafiz

As to this subject? You calculate the RCS based on any time you want. If you change the time, you must be unambiguous. See http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0:P11_QUESTION_ID:3297071155886

You can use scn_to_timestamp and it is converse to switch back, at least the previous 5 days (in current versions). Granularity of SNA varies according to the version of 5 minutes and 3 seconds.

  • Disk utility does not not what Time Machine backup connected / file Vault question?

    Hi all

    I'm on Mac OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 (15 d 21) on a Macbook Pro 8.2 (early 2011)

Previously, when File Vault was not activated I've been able to backup on my external drive for Time Machine (1 TB store Transcend jet) and the drive was visible when opening disk utility no problem...

Now since I have encrypted my first Macintosh HD using File Vault, my disk utility program will not load when my Time Machine (unencrypted) external backup disk is connected, and I can not back up by using the application Time Machine (the player is simply not visible).

When my external drive for Time Machine is not connected, my disk utility opens very well and I can see my Macintosh HD all external USB drives.

I tried to re-boot, I tried to disconnect all external devices, I tried to connect the Time Machine drive with two USB ports and I tried to open the first disk utility, and then connect the external drive for Time Machine without success.

Anyone else have experience with this problem or something similar? Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much!

Connect your Time Machine backup disk

    Open a Terminal

    Diskutil type: list

    Paste the results

  • Windows Server backup question!

I need help.  I'm a guy from Server 2008R2 novice who tries to save not only the server (which I did successfully with Windows Server backup), but a shared external hard drive connected to one of my office workstation computers (it has information vital to back up as well).  The documentation for Windows Server Backup to a google search says "You can use Windows Server backup to create and manage backups for the local computer or a remote computer".  How to create a backup to (not) a remote computer?

  • Question of time server Internet

Is it possible to change the time server for the clock in time.nist.gov XP (does not work) to nist.time.gov (does not work)?

Tried, he doesn't like it (no data? something like that on the third order), so I googled w32tm and further investigation on nist.time.com, I'd get it all first.

Time.nist.gov, which never works for me, exists; It is just terribly busy. This is consistent with the nist.time.gov which * links * to the sites, you can use for synchronization, but is not itself a sync site. Oops. (East time.nist.gov incorporated in XP? (Because if it is rarely accessible that looks like something that might be updated suite.)

First of all, being reminded the possibility one of the google links, I changed the address by doing a find in regedit. It worked, but as I said above, this isn't a useful address.

Once I found out it was the wrong address and found a good one, I discovered by chance I could change the address by selecting the text in the drop-down list that you get when you double click on the clock and select the time tab Internet. I thought it wouldn't work, but it did.

Anyway, thanks a lot for pointing me in a useful direction. I'm guessing that because the address that I gave is not supposed to have given there is no data. But I learned a lot about the departure function that I didn't. Enjoy it!

  • Windows Server backup - Reporting failure, but creates a backup file

Currently have a Server 2008 R2 running. Also runs Hyper-V with 3 than VMS. VM can be found on the D drive, so I have given up trying to save with C, since it was time.

I don't have a setup of daily - just VSS full backup disk Local (c), no bare metal recovery or backup the system state. It's backup on a network drive shared on a different server.

Daily backup status comes back as having failed. However when I go to the destination that the backup must be going, I see a 280 GB VHD file, which is the size expected to see.

The error reported in the Windows Server backup is "one of the backup files could not be created. "Error: the parameter is incorrect".

WSB is horrible to provide crash reports useful on what is the real problem.

Anyone have any idea why it's create a large file of backup, but reported as having failed with this error?

  • ARCHIVELOG queries years before backup recovery

I am doing a test of recovery of an RMAN backup on another server. After the restoration, the recovery phase requires an archivelog of 2008 with a sequence number of 1. I did not have these old archivelogs and do not see why I should need because the backup is from this year.

Any ideas on why this is happening? Oracle version is 11.2.0.1.0 on x86_64

This would have been what I thought too, but looking at the db of the source, it is not the case. (Of course, it is possible that at the time the backup was taken, the data file was in offline mode - but I don't think it's the case either).

I lean toward thinking it's just a feature of a restore process has failed. I'm almost done the restoration of data files so I'll find soon.

In fact, I think that's it:

    SQL > select file #, creation_time from v$ datafile;

    FILE # CREATION_

    ---------- ---------

    1 3 AUGUST 07

    2 3 AUGUST 07

    3 3 AUGUST 07

    4 3 AUGUST 07

    5 10 DECEMBER 08

    6 27 APRIL 09

    7 16 NOVEMBER 09

    8 1 JUNE 10

    9 JUNE 4, 12

Relief sought initially archivelogs in time of creating the data file 5. Now that I made room and restored datafile 5 once, he wants now archivelogs 27 April 09... which is the time of creation of the data file 6. I am currently restoring this one and looking at v$ datafile_header, I'll probably need to #8 catering establishments. Here's hoping that the round is played.

  • Two MacBooks, 10.11.4, a fast Time Machine backup and a very slow

In our office at home, connected to a Gigabit ethernet on the same switch network, we have two MacBooks.  One is a 2011 MBP with a 1 TB SSD (third party), and is an MBA in 2015 with a 512 GB SSD (Apple).  A Linux server on the same network running Netatalk 3 providing the backup network drives, one for each laptop. The two TImeMachine network drives are on the same physical server drive.  Two laptops running 10.11.4 and darn are configured almost identically.  Neither laptop has no trouble finding the network backup drives, and they begin to run backups without problem.

The old MBP was a workaholic and functioning flawlessly for years, including the fast and regular Time Machine backups. File unique restorations are done with some regularity, and they always worked (I don't think that once done, we use a complete restore of the system from scratch, and it worked).

The new MBA, in contrast, had endless questions from and complementing the backups.  Last night, for example, I decided to simply reformat the drive on the server where there is a material error affecting the MBA (I ran Linux fsck to check the file system before you wipe it off and he's found no errors) and resumed full backups on two laptops.  The MBP has about 600 GB for the first backup, and complete the backup in about 5 hours.

MBA, with about 350 Go back up, was still underway this morning and had less than half the backup is finished. In the console log, he showed he was backing about 5 GB/hour.  Not only that, but the incremental backups took a lot of hours (more than overnight), making it impossible to never complete because it must be packed and taken to work at some point in the morning.  I.e. backups are all simple broken on this MBA.

The MBA connects to the network with a third USB3 (Anker) hub that has a Gigabit Ethernet port on this subject.  I downloaded iperf for Mac and Linux server and found that this is right about 900 Mbps throughput, so I expect an optimal bandwidth is achieved in this regard.

Any ideas what might be happening here?  Diagnosis between the two to see what could be such a radical difference? Tried to change taps the network wiring/switch problems, without change. Reset, no change.

We have two other Macs also running backups in this way, under 10.11.4,, and they were also without problem. Also is it just that an MBA, the most recent of the bunch, problems.

A third-party file server is unsuitable for use with Time Machine, especially if it's your only backup. I know that's not what you want to hear. I know that Time Machine accepts the device as a backup destination. I know that the developer says the device will work with Time Machine, and I also know that it usually seems to work. Except when you are trying to restore and find that you can't.

Apple has published a specification for network devices that works with Time Machine. No third party provider, AFAIK, does meet this specification. They all use the application of Netatalk incomplete, obsolete Apple Filing Protocol.

Apple does not endorse any device third-party network for use with Time Machine. See this support article.

Network backup, use as destination an Apple Time Capsule or an external storage device connected to another Mac or a 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only 802.11ac base stations support time Machine, not older model.

Otherwise, use Time Machine at all. There are other ways to save, although none of them are nowhere near as effective or as well integrated with OS X. I don't have a specific recommendation.

If you are determined to continue to use the device with Time Machine, your only remedy for any problems that result is for the developer (who will blame Apple, neither you nor anyone else but herself.)

  • Backup - Snapshot issue / question.

    Greetings,

I have a fairly new 5.5 ESXi update 2 installation (Essentials). (September 2014).  Currently, I have only a VM on it. It is a stand-alone Server SBS 2011 standard conversion.  The virtual machine works fine without any problems.

The only issue I'm having is with my Barracuda backup system.   It fails at the end of the backup while trying to create a snapshot. I know what you think.  "Why I write this here? '...

I go back with the support of Barracuda.  Everything that they asked me to check, host-wise, wise system and guest-wise I could do and are come empty-handed.  See between the asterisks below for tit last correspondence I had with them (they did the highlighting).

I'm not very well the workings of VMware, so I don't really know where to go from here. Because I came before empty, I'm not even sure that Barracuda is on the right track here.  But I need to get back to them before they will help me any further.  I just need to some advice and assistance to determine if it actually, the question, and if it is, how to remedy or continue troubleshooting.

Thanks for any idea and assistance, you may be able to provide me with.

    PEI

    Start of Barracuda support *.

"Look in the error, I see that it looks to be another process running at the same time the backup is running or something is not finished before start backups." "That's what I see in the newspaper of bbs:

26 Dec 11:31: 27 2014 barracuda backupd [14271]: failed to create the snapshot (vim25_TaskInProgress): another task is already underway.
26 Dec 11:31: 27 2014 barracuda backupd [14271]: fatal: could not create any backup host vmware snapshot: SFD-SRV1. Stratfire.local

End of support for Barracuda *.

    Hi p...

The list of files seems ok now?  It's much better from my point of view...

If so, it looks like success all around. See the attached list after deleting all.  I'll remind the Barracuda.

I can't thank you enough for all your help and patience.  You really are an asset to the VMware forum community.  Thank you for taking the time to work with me. I learned a bit about yourself.

    Thanks again

    P.

  • Using more of a VMWare backup recovery

    Hi all

I'm sitting here und think next idea:

We have 10 servers that must be saved. We use a VDR (VM Backup Recovery) for this. Thus, sometimes the catalog crashes and it takes neerly a day to fix it. While this time I can´t of backup or restore anything.

These backups are on the same SAN as my ESX machines. So I have the big problem, if everything crashes (raid or more than 1 HDD) I have no chance to recover anything.

Yes, I know that this is not 100% optimal. either way... we have no money to buy a second SAN!

the idea was to develop an other VDR and connect it to a Terastation. Speed is absolutely secondary. This VDR would save computers same like the first VDR. (not at the same time, for example SQL Server is saved on VDR1 on VDR2 and 06:00 on 09:00)

    The biggest would be:

-If VDR 1 catalog crashes, VDR2 works and I can fix the VDR1 without missing the backups or recoveryoptions

-If my STI SAN crashing, I can use my Terastation to fix everything (the speed is secondary)

What do you think of this idea?

    Good bye

    Andy

You can define 2 different backup locations in a single device. So you can save on Monday for the first location and Tuesday for the second and so on. When an integrity check runs more than 24 hours, you have the second location-data store to restore on the same device operations. If you have enough backup-time, you can also save each VM twice in one day in two places at different times. In the event of a disaster you will be lucky and maybe lose only a location of data store and have all your backups without waitiing for the completion of the audit of integrity or something as a recataloguer. Up to now this works very well in my environment with 5 appliances and 180 VM. I use no more than 30 virtual machines for a single device, because integrity, check runs throughout.

  • Time Machine backup migration wizard

    Hello

I have a MBP (2012 model) running OSX 10.11.6. The hard drive has encountered an error that I couldn't get (invalid node structure). After spending the better part of a day of troubleshooting, I finally erased the drive and reinstall the OS from the OSX Internet Recovery Mode option. After that I reinstalled OSX version accompanying (Mavericks), I was going to transfer all my files from my USB external time Machine drive. I checked using the Migration Wizard, and I had the opportunity to transfer any of the player. Instead, I thought I'd be better to first upgrade to el capitan (it was on 10.11.6 when it stopped working) and install the programs I use (MS Office) before the transfer, so I went through this process. Now when I try to restore the files using Migration Assistant in el Capitan, he can't seem to find the USB Time Machine backup drive - it retains just turn on "the search for Source...". "on the transfer to this Mac screen information. If I leave the Migration Wizard, the USB key is accessible in the Finder. Don't know what to do at this point, but I really need these files (years of family photos are my biggest concern about losing).

    Thank you

    Mike Camden

OK - I've solved it. For some reason, it wouldn't find the backup disk, Time Machine in the Migration Wizard, when I plugged directly on the port of USB of MBP (although he appeared and is accessible from the Finder); However, on a whim, I plugged into the USB port on my Airport Extreme, connected my MBP to it as a shared resource on the network and is running Migration Wizard again. Migration assistant immediately found and was able to make the Time Machine restore - it took much longer overall than network he would like a USB drive, but I let it run all night, and everything was finished this morning.

  • What do you call a time machine backup drive

What you call a Time Machine backup excite my recovery system do not recognize so-called backup?

  • How can I restore mac Time machine backup to most recent?

So, I recently met several problems with my old mac. He started acting upward with the blinking folder and question mark more often. So I did multiple time machine backups and have since then tried to reinstall the OS and many other options, but it looks like my mac middle of 2007 has had its day. So I bought a new mac and tried to restore the back upward on the external hard drive. I get the message that his back is an older version and it cannot be restored and I should use from the other mac migration assistant.

So the question is: If the first mac is burned and I can not restore settings etc of the time external hard disk machine, how to restore the whole upward? Can I transfer files only?

    Very much appreciated.

    Hi Sir,

You cannot restore data in time machine just like that. You use the data transfer assistant to recover your old records to your new Mac.

The data that you used time machine made to your old mac are not available to your new mac. There is limitation of the system.

    Hope this could help you.
