Fail to scan documents to a PDF on my Mac

I HP8600 N911a for a few years now, but today I have tryied to scan documents in PDF format on my mac and the only thing that it displays in the preview of the scan screen is the Word failed. I do not understand why, cause when I try to scan to the JPEG Format, it works perfectly fine.

Thanks for providing this information xenia123.

I connect the printer directly to the Mac with a USB cable and try to scan a PDF document.

In this way, we find out if it's a software issue or issue a networking.

If it scans by a USB connection, the software is installed correctly.

Mac OS X includes a personal firewall that can be used to block unwanted incoming connections on your computer. A firewall protects the services on your computer from other computers on networks or on the Internet.

1. choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security, and then firewall.

  1.

Open the Firewall pane of security preferences
  2. Click the lock icon to unlock it and enter an administrator name and password.
  3. Click Start to activate the firewall.
  4. Temporarily disable the firewall.

If you are able to scan with the firewall off, then proceed as follows to allow specified applications and services to connect:

  1. In the same window of firewall, click Advanced.
  2. Click the Add (+) button and select the application or service in the dialog box that appears.
  3. Select the application that is used to scan and check the option to automatically allow signed software...

If you cannot parse the PDF file with a USB connection, then I uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

I have provided a document to make sure that the Scan of the computer is turned on. Go to Solution 2: check the Scan of the computer definition please. A "connection error" or 'No computer detected' error message when scanning for e-all-in-one printer series HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911).

If you need help, let me know.

Good day!
Thank you.

I JUST BOUGHT HP 2515 PRINTER ink advantage ALL IN ONE. I LOOK to find out why my scanner fails to scan a page to pdf file, even if the options are to come, but after saving I m get a white page

    Hi AMARsharma,

I can't wait to hear that you have questions.  From the information provided, apparently, that adobe may be updated.  You are able to view other types of file to scan?  Please see the information that can solve the problem below.  If you would like more information about your product, click here.

    1. check and update Adobe reader and flash player

    A. click here to access the Adobe website to check and update to versions current (quick glance on the right side, downloads for flash and reader).  Note: this is a 3rd party site.  HP and I are not responsible for the content or use of this site.

    I hope this helps!

  • Photosmart premium C309g-m: lack of disk space when scanning documents in pdf format for PC

When you try to scan documents to pdf format on my computer (connected via a wired network), including multiple pages, the throws of sweeping to the top of this error message 'More disk space - remove unused files to free disk space' the error code below is 4, [(3,11,0)].

I seem to be OK with a single page at low resolution in B & W - 150 dpi but not more than a few pages to this resolution, or even a single page to a higher resolution and the error message is thrown upwards and will not save the file. Clearly I'm not memory hard drive because there is a lot of space and I tried recording on multiple disks.

If I scan everything straight to a USB stick plugged into the printer it works OK but scan documents as a picture and crops, more it only scans one page and then save it.

I tried to install a patch from this forum question http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/Scan but it made no difference and my windows 7 was not an upgrade of vista

Hope someone can help with this

I would recommend performing this step of your computer, the HP software. It is much easier to achieve. Please follow this document HP How to digitize. Click on your appropriate operating system, and then click "how to scan multiple pages into a single file. You will notice indicates: (digitization of additional pages is supported at 300 dpi or less.)

    1. Place a document on the scanner glass, and then click Scan your computer.
    2. When the preview scan appears, click the Plus sign ( ) on the left side of the window to scan additional pages. If you do not use an ADF, you must load the next page of the document on the glass of the scanner to add to each additional page.

    Hi @GTR3,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.

I see that you are unable to print the PDF scanned documents with your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-all-in-one printer. I would like to help.

You are able to print any other format PDF on the Mac, or the question is just limited to your scanned PDF files? Whether the soft friendly PDF work with - Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader?

In the meantime, I recommend you try the following steps:

    • Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions.
    • Fix permissions of the disc on your Mac - click here for instructions.
    • Once you have finished running the utility above, restart your computer.
    • Finally, click here to reinstall your printer.

Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post. If I helped you to solve the problem, feel free to give me a virtual h.o.t. by clicking the "Thumbs Up" icon below and by clicking to accept this solution.

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support. Have a great day!

  • How to scan documents several pages into .pdf using Microsoft Fax and Scan in Windows 7 64 bit

I need to scan documents from several pages to .pdf files in a user's preferred directory.  I have a HP Color Laserjet 2840 Director HP Windows XP to scan documents to .pdf files. I had to move the printer/scanner on a 64-bit Windows 7 computer.  No HP Director or the HP Solution Center is supported for this printer under Windows 7 and HP Internet site recommends the use of Windows Fax and Scan.  Fax and scanning does not support scanning into .pdf analyses or several pages in any format except TIFF.  It also only allows files to be redirected to network folders and is not a browse button to select a location.  Short buying Adobe Acrobat and using a 2-step process of digitization in TIFF format and then print the TIFF to PDF file. does anyone have any suggestions?

I discovered thanks to a thread on this issue that Windows 7 does not come with the ability to scan multi-page documents, although versions previous to Windows.  I read that it takes download program Microsoft Office Document Imaging (MODI) Microsoft to scan multi-page documents.  What a pain!
