FAILED: An error occurred during conversion
I installed the VMware vCenter Standalone Converter software on our 64-bit system Redhat requiring to be virtualized, then I also installed it on a Windows XP system on the network. Then, I installed the ESX Server on a third-party system. Windows system was able to start a conversion of the Redhat box on the ESX Server, however the conversion failed with the message: FAILED: an error occurred during conversion
How to solve this? I have attached the logs that were created for this attempt.
Thank you.
Same error found in your newspaper, but on another partition (your "/")

Hello world.
I used VMware Converter Standalone 6.0 converter Server 2003 on Hyper-V to host ESX to vCenter.
Hyper-V have IP: 10.132.2.200
vCenter have IP: 10.132.2.177
ESXi host have IP: 10.132.2.192
We have no political firewall for 3 IP this. All ports are open in the firewall.
But when I convertering 1% who have the error with the State: FAILED: an error occurred during conversion: 'the operation encountered a network error'
So can you help me fix this case?
Best regards.
Hello Hongchuong
It really looks like a secure network communication. You write no firewall blocks but we will go into more detail. The connection must be established from the Hyper-V (10.132.2.200) host to the ESXi (10.132.2.192) host on port 902, as in log lines:

An easy way to try the connectivity is telnet from the Hyper-V host to ESX host on port 902
I see you have also tried again to destination 10.132.2.191 with the same error. It is possible that Hyper-V firewall is blocking.

When I use the converter P2V a VM to ESXi. The VM OS is SUSE10SP2. the process is 98%, give the error:
FAILED: An error occurred during conversion: "native initrd patch supports only Rhel, SLE and Ubuntu.
Source operating system is SLES10SP2
How to deal?
The source has been recognized as "suse", not as "sles:
-->
Are you sure it's SuSE Enterprise and not Open SuSE? Converter supports SLES only.
Anyway, you can try a hack to make apparently SLES - change the ' / etc/SuSE-release ' on the source machine (or something similar in the model/etc / *-free) and in the first line add "Enterprise." Then try the conversion again. It's the machine 'lsuseinux90 '.
Regarding the "opscenter' - version has not been recognized too. The second line in the output file should be something like "VERSION = xx".

I am trying to convert an image backup acronis tru to a windows 2003 server to a server esxi virtual computer, a system I had converted previously on 4.x and exsi 5.1 Converter and using the same image and same PC to convert, but now he is unable to 59% with the status:
FAILED: An error occurred during conversion: "a file error has been detected" and error: error: impossible to clone the C:\Windows\TEMP\vmware-temp\vmware-me\nvdsxwvgwgxyklny\disk-1.vmdk drive on the virtual machine "server."
Don't know where to go with this.
Anyone have any ideas?
Unfortunately, there is a mistake in your image file: 2014-05 - 20 T 20: 41:17.034 - 04:00 [02140 WARNING 'Default'] [, 0] [NFC ERROR] read has no curSector = 588398592, nSectors = 512: failure of a custom of third party library function call: (3116).
Seems like you need to repair the virtual machine somehow, probably you start it, or use a tool acronis to repair the image.

I do P2V of a Linux Machine, his failure with the error "FAILED: an error occurred during conversion:"root is not found""If anyone can suggest how to solve this...» He does not drive partition root to copy don't know why his account right there.
I solved the problem myself... This is because the Version of Vcenter Converter. I'm using Vcenter Converter 5 to P2V a server Linux RHEL5.2, its not supported by Vcenter Converter 5. That of why I've done P2V using Vcenter Converter5.2 and accomplished.

Got this message when trying to P2v of Windows 2003 SP2 server on workgroup. Using the IP address and a local administrator account to connect to the server and the connection to vCenter to add the VM on the host. The source server is in a workgroup and vCenter server reside in the field, but I can't do a ping from source to vCenter and source of vConverter server and vice versa. So, doesn't seem to be a firewall issue or the port number. My account exist on vCenter data center as an administrator, so I should have no problem with permission.FAILED: An error occurred during conversion:

A note more: host of the ESXi 5.0 that I'm trying to place the virtual machine on a double 10G uplinks defined in Full, while the physical server has a 1 G network card. It is still duplexing of lag, but do not know if it would be a problem here. Also, am using vCenter Converter standalone ver5.1 to vCenter on ESXi 5.0 5.0 build 1117897. Configuration standard vSwitch.
Have tried to locate what means this error and previously paint white. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you very much
I don't know, ports and/or connection settigs could be changed after P2V previsous... check the connection settings, consult the manual.

I'm trying to convert a physical Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 with converter (v 5.1) and each time it fails with the error "FAILED: an error occurred during conversion:"2338 ' platform-specific error.
Some errors in the paper seem to point to a hard disk problem but I defragment the disk and then ran a chkdsk and the disk seems good.
I appreciate all help.

I'm trying to convert a laptop of ageing of a virtual machine, but it does not reach 1% with the vague error "an error occurred during conversion:"converter.fault.ConverterFileFault. "
With VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client 5.5.1 build 1682692 locally running the conversion of the machine running.
On a laptop with WinXP Sp3, with a single drive, by recording the VM on a USB hard drive attached.
I have run chkdsk on the drive. (with the F option) and defragmented several times
Shadow copy services have been restarted and are running. I even downloaded the VSS SDK and replaced the *.dll.
It is with the latest version of the client converterNo firewall is active.
I am logged on as administrator, even tried to create a role of administrator with the name "Administrator".
Drive is not encrypted I can say (no Truecrypt)
The xp includes backup works (i.e. work VSS)
I looked at the other questions/logs here, but do not see the same exact
UPDATE: Solution via Hack
I could get this job sort of a hard-working hack.I first downloaded Acronis image 2014 (a free 30 day trial) then who used to capture the image of the operating system, the * tib file is about 40 GB in size.
Unfortunately VMWare converter works only with version of Acronis 2012, so the *.tib file could not be used directly to the source of the virtual machine
So I created inside VMWare Workstation a new empty VM for Windows XP
I gave her 2 virtual disks hard 50 GB and 50 GB mapped as C: and H:
reinstalled windows in the C
copied the *.tib in the secondary hard drive H: as shared folders (for example how a USB is sometimes mounted) are not accessible when the Acronis is restoration of the tib via its custom BootLoader
Download and install Acronis image 2014 on this new fresh OS
used Acronis to restore from this backup on H: * tib in the C: crush installing the OS
reactivated again, windows
fighting pilots who the real differeed
Defragment the drive VMware
Seems to work as expected.
I got this job, see the update on the use of Acronis to work around the problem.

An error occurred during conversion: the operation encountered a network error.
Nice day. We are currently trying to convert vm to ESX 3.5 to 5.5 using the media only converter ver 5.5. The conversion with 2% with the operation failure encountered a network error. I then submitted back to the job and selected only 1 drive 5, drive system, and successfully completed. How I will go about to get the 4 remaining disks converted to the already existing virtual machine?
I don't understand.
Make another conversion to another virtual machine. Do so without reconfig because it will be without the system volume.
Then attach disks resulting for the virtual machine from the previous conversion.

During the Installation of LR, I get an error message. Initially, I didn't have enough space for the installation on the boot partition drive. However, now, it should be enough and I rebooted the computer, a couple of times, so I guess that the temporary installation files have been deleted.
Now, however every time I try to reinstall the software I get the following messages:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---
