Failed to create system image on USB stick 64 GB

Hello

I bought a Patriot 64GB flash drive to use record system images and to facilitate the execution of backups with me.

When I start the option to create a system image in Windows 7 backup and try and select the drive as the target of the image, I get the message thatthe drive is not a valid backup location and I can not go. The drive is all new and quick formatted in NTFS, so I don't see what could be the problem.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The location is a USB flash drive. You can't save backups to a flash drive.

  • Windows 7 backup system Image - 0x8078012D error Code - fails to complete system image backup?

I seem to have a problem with the Windows backup when a scheduled backup image on a hard drive external fails to finish, although she worked successfully before many times.  Backup Windows reports an error code of 0x8078012D.

I ran the tool of error checking on the external hard drive with running repair options, but no problem discovered.  The external disk drive seems ok because I use a Norton program to back up data on the same drive with no problems.  Also Windows backup will happily make a 'non-system image' backup on the external drive.

But it is not an image of the system stand alone, or as an add on the a normal backup.

    Any advice?

    Thank you

After many tests on the solutions listed here, I found a way to fix my problem. I had continually failure is to say the system could not create a snapshot or that my drive has been a failure. It seems, with Windows 7, you must configure options that are not obvious to the users.

    1. go to control panel/system/System Protection and select your C: drive.

    2. Select "set up" and make sure "Restore system settings and previous versions of files" is on.

    3. the Max use value at least 2%

    4. apply

    5. Select your key USB you will use for backup and configure it again to the protection and the whole file size of at least 18%.

    6. apply

    7. in the control panel go to administrative tools, open Services.

8 scroll down until Windows backup and make sure it is set to manual and not started.

    9. highlight Volume Shadow and make sure it is also set to manual and not started.

10 10 aller go to control panel, select backup and restore.

    11. click on "Change settings", and then select the drive you will support up to.

12 run backup let the system do its thing and everything should work.

  • creating system image

    Hello

    I recently got a hp envy Win8 m6-1125dx.

After a few days, I wanted to make a system image backup on an external hard drive with 700 GB of free space.

Start the process, a prompt told me that the reverse would require about 60 GB of free space.

No problem, I thought. The process lasted for about 6-7 minutes, and a prompt in the end told me that the backup has been created successfully.

But, when I checked the "WindowsImageBackup" file that was created on my hard drive, instead of finding it about 60 GB (as I was told at the beginning of the backup process), the file (5 files) only 4,00 KB...

I did more time with the same results...

    Something I am doing wrong?

    Thank you very much.

Thanks for getting back to me. Looks like it is not uncommon that the file appears empty.

Users on Microsoft Answers post here gives a suggestion to open the system restore to see if you can confirm whether or not the file will work. He suggests that it may be possible to view the file before you restore all the files.

Error: 0x8078002A occurs when you back up to a 2.5 or 3.0 TB drive in Windows 7 backup and restore

    Answer ID 6618 | Last updated 19/05 / 2011-->

    Problem:
If you are using Windows 7 backup and restore with a drive to 2.5 or 3.0, the backup fails with an error code of (0x8078002A).

    Cause:
This problem is caused by a problem with the Windows 7 backup and restore when using disks with logical sector of 4 K sizes, which are found on WD 2.5 TB and larger external hard drives. This is different from a 'Advanced Format' drive (AFD) that use 4 K physical sector sizes. Readers of AFD should not cause this problem.

    Solution:
It is always possible to use a disc, as long as you don't need to use the drive with Windows XP. Using the quick WD Formatter tool, select factory default configuration to reformat the drive.

Warning: This tool will erase all data on your drive, in order to take the necessary precautions.

After formatting the drive mode factory default , the reader will be usable in Windows Vista and Windows 7. However, the drive will not be recognized in Windows XP. It is the only way to get Windows 7 Backup and Restore to work properly.

  • HP Envy Spectrea XT (13-2000eg: failed to create the aUEFI recovery USB HP Envy spectrum XT (13-2000eg) as key to retrieve the firmware)

    Hello

After that I reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch, I tried to reinstall some of the previous tools HP from my backup in c:\SWSetup. Something failed there and window 10 frozen.

After a forced via the power button, the ultrabook no longer starts. Instead the Shiftlock LED ist blinking 2 times + pause (the BIOS is broken, at least another document indicates... why?).

The UEFI boot loader seems to be ok, at least after the reset, a USBSTick is accessible before the led starts to Flash.

So my simple question is: How can not create a USB key UEFI firmware recovery?

The available sp66771.exe file DOES not work or offers an option to create a USB key, which can be used with WIndows + B on poweron reflash a UEFI working image.

Also, any other documentation that I found for HP and Insyde UEFI products did not work at all.

Where can such a recovery USB key now?

What keys are used on the desire to trigger the usbrecovery?

    Concerning

    Carsten

After losing hours (!) talk to take in charge the people at HP, hours of navigation Reiver on the HP site, I finally found the solution:

    3-in-1-USB-recovery-key

It's an HP internal tools. Less than 10 min, I downloaded and installed the tool to a USB key.

After plugin stick to the ultrabook, by pressing power - we + ESC UEFI firmware was flashed automatically to the latest version. After<3min the="" ultrabook="" was="" up="" an="" running="">

Would it not useful, if supporters want to know this internal tool from HP, rather than trying to sell me the new HW or propose costly repairs (propbaly to promote the sale of new HW)?

So while the HW and associated tools seems to be pretty mich ok, support and information on the forum needs a lot of improvement.

  • Failed to create system restore point exception exception c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,control_rundll,"c:\windows\system32\sysbm.cpl",system

Original title: I can't do a restore point.

I get exception c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll,control_rundll,"c:\windows\system32\sysbm.cpl",system what can I do?

This has happened for a very long time.

    Does really say '... sysdm.cpl "?"

Is that what the text complete and accurate of what the message said exactly?  (there is no sysbm.cpl in XP, but there's a sysdm.cpl).

What happens if you click on start, run and enter in the box:

    sysdm.cpl

Click OK - the system properties box opens?

What happens if you click on start, run and in the type box (exactly):

    %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe

Click OK - is the open window of the system restore?

What is exactly the process (step by step) you are using when you try to create the restore point and when in the process you see this message?

I think it's a miracle that the Microsoft support engineer can provide a link to an article when the error message report you is a little out of whack and articles doesn't mention your error message at all.  It's real good troubleshooting or clairvoyance!

Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

  • Failed to create system repair disc__

I am using windows 7 Home Edition, where im trying to do a repair system on a cd - rw disc. I insert a blank cd, then goto the menu to create an ERD, where I select to create the disc. the tool runs for about 5 minutes, and the progress bar gets about 3/4 of the full path when an error saying:

System repair disc could not be created
The unit refused to accept the order within the time limit. This may be caused by the device after you have entered an inconsistent state, or the value of the timeout for the command may need to be increased. (0xC0AA020D)

I tried several times and have not been able to create a disc.

I have exactly the same issue. Anyone can shed some light on this?

Also, when I tried to get the formatted disk (DVD - RW), Windows 7 "cannot complete the format."

The aforementioned dwonloadable recovery disk is no longer free. And new discs are out of reach for me now.

    Eventually, I discovered why.

It's because I forgot to install the driver supplied by the manufacturer, to the same SATA II, which governs my DVD burner, so let Windows 7 have no choice but using its own standard driver.

After you have installed the required driver, the Windows 7 system repair disk was created successfully.

    Please provide the information below.

    1. do you have any error message when creating system image?

    2. Type command and press ENTER.

    3. Click on troubleshooting.
