  I use Windows 7, so I tried to run in compatibility mode, without success. I tried every OS listed above, but I still had the same problem:

  So if this isn't the compatibility problem, what could be bad?

  If it is a 16-bit program, it could well be, being of that age, it doesn't install, compatibility or not, on 64-bit for victory.

  If you have win7 pro or ultimate, you can install virtual winxp of MS and see if it will install in this environment, but there are no guarantees.

  Maybe you have a damaged user profile, you can test by creating, or using, another account user and see if they can get around the place.

  Other things you can try.

  Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right click on your drive icon / properties / tools / error checking.  First try checking not be (read-only) to see if it reports any problems file or hard drive.  If this is the case, start by checking the two boxes, in no other rerun.

• Photoshop CC 2014 will not open all the files, not even create new ones

  I have a freshly installed version of Photoshop CC 2014, and it is enough to open any file single no matter what I do.  I also CC 2014 Illustrator installed since last week and it behaves very well, and even open files that Photoshop won't open (jpg, psd, png, etc.).

  I tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling and it doesn't always open all files.  In fact, nothing happens when I click on the 'Open' button in the open file dialog.

  Well, I finally got to work by trial and error.  Here are the steps I used to run:

  (1) make sure that you are not behind a Firewall/VPN/etc, just connect directly to the internet (if possible).  I use Adobe for my work laptop, and I was informed that this could be a problem during the installation process.

  (2) uninstall Photoshop via the creative cloud application interface.

  (3) click on icon creative cloud of the system and "Quit" status bar (it is automatically started for me to a previous start)

  (4) make a right click on the creative cloud desktop icon and choose "Run as Administrator"

  (5) Photoshop re - install

  After completing the above steps, I can now open any file png, jpg, gif, etc, so that start a new file.  I have no idea why it works or if my not play no role in fixing it, but I thought it was worth sharing for others to try if they encounter a similar problem.  It could be the firewall that I was behind, or the permissions (I don't think creative cloud starts as an administrator).  But I'm not able to say that I know the exact resolution.  I hope this helps!

  What you can do, is not not to display the document. Just make sure you close all active documents.

  If this is the error message itself, then part of your preferences are corrupted.

  Delete or reset the preferences.
