Failed to retrieve HP 2000-2b19WM

The hard drive on HP 2000 - 2b19WM was damaged when the laptop was accidentally deleted. The laptop starts and do various other live CD (Linux, Acronis, Active Partition Recovery) and perform without problem, it's how I found it was the hard drive that was the problem.

Given that the drive recovery was not possible. In my opinion, computer makers have neglected to consider the idea behind the collection, to have a way to start and restore a disk hard if the original hard drive is damaged. No sense to have a restore on the same drive partition so that if the drive is lost as in this case you are no way to quickly recover your computer.

Fortunately, HP had DVD restoration for this particular model computer laptop so I ordered, thinking it would be just a matter of popping in the disks and in a few hours have a usable laptop once more, the boy, I was wrong!

This is my 9th attempt to restore to a new hard drive (same size as the original) using the DVD. The process is going very well and looks like it loads all files correctly. On the final drive (additional) is kicking on the DVD automatically, then restarts.

When it starts, I see some flash windows command a few times, barely perceptible until the 5th attempt all about. The display shows then a message including the restoration box failed and there are three choice 'Save', 'Retry' to 'Cancel' none allow the boot process to proceed. He doesn't want to load the restore disc and when you do that it restarts and takes up the entire process.

On the 6th attempt I turned off the PC then loaded Acronis Disk Director and found that the installation of Windows had not really started. It seems to me that the DVD create partition recovery and partition boot EFI as well as another partition which remained unused.

Perhaps the idea is configuration of the recovery partition, then go over the restoration of BONE that? In any case I can not past this screen, because there is no windows to start.

I tried to install Windows 8, but given that the license key is hidden on the laptop and there is no sticker with a license key on the bottom, just a sticker that says 'Windows 8' I can't activate Windows and I'm not going to pay for a new copy of Windows when this laptop came with it in the first place.

So in summary, the recovery of the DVD fails after restart and final drive. Message on reboot says it cannot continue because of invalid recovery of images or something in the order, I have ceased to occupy the 6th time, so I forgot the correct messages. Following the review of the hard drive, it is that Windows is not installed and it seems that only the recovery partition is created.

After reading some posts here I tried what many others had no success, even reset the date. I have never had a disc set recovery that did not restore the operating system and boot to it. Very strange the way HP has made this series of DVDs, not their best work by far.

My question, finally, how to get the dvd collection to do their job.

FYI: I am a + certified (since 1997) and worked on the PC now for 17 years so I ran all the controls on the hardware and even conducted a drive security wipe hard even though it was a raw disk.

P.S. I'm NOT a student, I am 55 years old and graduated from college years ago.

Do you know if any component is damaged in the menu drop-down? Recovery is rather capricious that it will often refuse to proceed if no hardware is not detected. Seen recently on a laptop that had the touchpad/mouse unplugged treadmill.

Have you tried to simply install Windows 8? Usually the installer to extract the license key from the BIOS. If she is not pulling the key or recognize it as valid there may be a problem with it - which could also be the cause of the failure recovery.

BTW, the title "Student" is simply the naming forum which is based on the number of posts. I'm not a "Provost".

  • FAILED TO RETRIEVE HP 2000

    Hi all

First of all, let me apologize for the long post.  I am currently working on a laptop of a friend (2000 HP).  He is locked up while he was browsing the SD card in the card reader.  I'm not entirely sure of what he was doing, but he has finally it turned off.  When it has restarted, he tried to fix it himself.  It worked for about 4 hours (he says), so he switched off again.  I picked up the next day and let it run and run.  I quit the job when it is still running on my desktop, and when I got home the next morning, it was powered off.  I assumed it was over, but when I restarted it, it could not do something (for 2 hours).  So, I tried to launch the HP recovery utility, which has failed repeatedly.  I used my laptop Windows 8 to create a recovery USB drive, that is me in the recovery after 4 hours of grinding console (I chose to reset).   I started the process and let it located on my desktop all night.  At one point, didn't reset.  So, I restarted, go to the BIOS once more and disabled startup secure in the hope that he would expedite the process.  I brought the laptop home and restarts the reset process.  After about 4 hours, he got to close to 47% and has not yet.  This time, I just tried to restart to see if she would do anything.  He said that no OS was present and gave a few menu general diagnostics.  I ran the Diagnostics short drive, and the drive failed the test of the DST.  So, I am now assuming that the drive is dead, and that's what was causing all the problems.  My question is, if he buys a new drive, how can I get a Windows 8 ISO to reload the OS?  I read that the product keys are now stored in the BIOS.  Is this true?  If so, is it can I can legally download an ISO file so I can fix it laptop guy.  Here's another better, he bought a year earlier in the week where he has failed, but only took it out of the box a few months ago.  Again, I apologize for the short novel.  I don't know much Winows 8, so if someone could help me somehow, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you

    -Rob

The license key of Windows 8 is indeed integrated into the BIOS. You can use retail DVD, ISO fle, etc. to install and activate it. You can also order recovery disc from HP for usually less than $20. They will restore the laptop to the factory, with all the drivers/software.

I did a new install of Windows 8 on my HP 2000-2b19WM. Then I downloaded the drivers for my model http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-2000-Notebook-PC-series/5296210/model/5360117/driversPC, but when I tried to install, Setup an abortion and that he did not show the error message, it just closed, without saying if the installation was successful. It happened with wifi, audio, video drivers and touch pad.

I do not understand why is this happenning. A few months ago I reinstalled Windows on my PC and downloaded the drivers from the link above and they were properly installed.

    Thanks in advance

  • HP 2000-2b19wm video ram Allocation

You have a question about the amount of video memory allocated on this laptop. In the production specifications, he said "AMD Radeon HD 6310 Discrete-Class graphics with up to 1972 MB total graphics memory" Accoring to system properties (if you do the math) 409,6 MB ram is allocated to video. If I read this correctly, I could allocate 1.9 GB of ram to the video card. So guess the question is, how can I I do? Or if the system allocates video ram necessary?

Any help to solve this mystery would be greatly appreciated.

The link to the page of the product specification is lower.

    Hello bfldworker,

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I read your post about how you look to allocate more memory for the graphics card to your laptop, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

According to the Specifications of HP 2000 - 2b19WM Notebook PC product, your dedicated graphics processor card will automatically allocate as much RAM as you need for the program that you are running. For example, if you surf on a web browser, you can use that with a few MBs of the video card. If you run a high-end gaming, you might almost be the maximum (1972MB).

    I hope this helps!

  • Failed to retrieve this file?

    Hello

I have written some documents in InDesign CS4 over the weekend and exported inx file to work on it to work using CS3. Something I do quite often.

When I opened and save it as a new document in CS3 and trying to change my text, I get an error message that says:

"Failed to retrieve this file. It can be used by someone else. "

It's crazy, because it it only my folder and is not on any network etc... etc... etc...

We know what could cause this and how I can close it, so I can work on my file?

    Thank you!

Are you sure that you didn't export an .incx file or resources (history of InCopy CS3) by chance?

Just to check the parameters are collected successfully from the server. Create the project and join the server to the same. CFM open and type must identify the data sources.
