Failed to start - Satellite C660

So when you try to start the laptop, you met the same Uni black screen and a blinking gray underscore - after which, you can get an overview of the normal Toshiba startup screen.
However, this is only a preview, and the laptop moves quickly back to the black screen, and then in the start menu.
There was a screen failure boot, but not in the recent attempt to restart. He just went directly to the boot menu.
Before that happened, my laptop works relatively normally, except that it was freezing - the reason why I turned off it in the first place. When I tried to restart, all this happened.

The HDD/SSD is too suddenly disappeared? (where there had been something before, I tried to start the and the CD/DVD (TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633C) is still there but I can't the laptop to boot from either.)

Basically, I'm puzzled. My technical skills really do not extend beyond the basic system restore and I have no idea of what is happening.

This is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive. I think that you will need to check the HARD drive if possible.
You can use a tool called Drive Fitness Test. This can help you detect errors on the HARD drive.
If this is not possible because the HARD drive would not be recognized, then you must replace the HARD drive

I get a blank screen and cursor is not serious what I have no recovery disk.

I tried F8 and to repair, but even once, it just goes to the empty screen.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Please switch on and press F2 to enter the BIOS.
In BIOS check if the HARD drive is recognized. The HARD drive should appear on the first page of the BIOS.
If it is not recognized, it means that your HARD drive is dead.
In this case, you will need to replace the HARD drive and install the system once more.

You said you don t have the right recovery disk, here you can order one:

I spend a few hours in an attempt to create the floppies of recovery for my laptop (Satellite C660 - 1 DG)

It fails on the second DVD at halfway. It just hangs. CTRL-ALT-DEL is no longer a cold start will have to start the thing.

I tried several DVD but NOGO each time to halfway the second DVD, it crashes.

I really need to create these recovery DVDs because Im going to upgrade the laptop to run a Windows Server 2012 install for development purposes.

I thought that it would take only a minimum of time, but... of course...

To create recovery DVDs, I highly recommend to use DVD-R virgins only. Of course, it must be high quality as TDK or Verbatim product.

I have very good experience with these DVDs.

  • Satellite C660-108 does not start if the USB Bluetooth dongle connected

    Hiya,

I hope you could help me.

I'm having a problem with my dongle bluetooth and satellite c660-108.
It all works perfectly. It connects devices via bluetooth and I can do whatever I want.

But then when I'm mobile stop and turn it on again it will go if the bluetooth dongle is always in the USB.

I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
I have to turn it off, remove the bluetooth dongle and then turn it back on.
And then windows starts. After that, I put in bluetooth dongle, once again I want to work with her.

It isn't a huge problem, but it is a bit annoying when I have to leave the bluetooth and put it back again to get the windows began.
I'm running under win 8.1 but he already had with 8 victory.

    Anyone any ideas?

    > I see Toshiba screen and then it hangs with a black screen and a cursor flashing at the top left.
Especially the blinking cursor is displayed because the laptop can not find a boot device.

It seems that the device cannot put on the HARD drive while the USB dongle is connected.
I would recommend you check the boot order in the BIOS.

Put the HARD drive in the first place and the USB boot last device.
Save changes and check if it helps.

  • Re: Satellite C660 - fan starts then stops

    Hello

Sorry for my English, I'm French, I have a Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop a few days ago and I noticed that the fan starts and stops every minute at any time when the temperature exceeds about 40 degrees (noted with SpeedFan).
Even if I'm just the desktop, the Internet. However, it does not heat up much. Is this normal?

Before I had a laptop and the fan stops, but almost never had low-noise. I prefer it, but it's can be a simple matter of habit for the Toshiba...?

    Hello

Try it please change cooling method option in the advanced power settings.

Open power options > n a click your power profile that you use > choose the advanced power options > Toshiba Power Saver Settings > cooling method > change two optimized battery options.

I think that this will reduce fan activity.

    Please test and send feedback.

He said nothing, I mean diagnostic tool Pc can can show result falsely and the drive works very well himself. In any case, backup all data in case of failure. You can also download the 3rd party program to test the State of the hard drive. (such as hard drive Inspector)

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV crashed with BSOD and won't start

My laptop Satellite C660 - 2 EV running Windows 7, without apparent reason crashed to blue screen of death, after which it would not restart.

I tried to reboot in safe mode with the function keys, but it is the extent of loading: windows\system32\drivers/classpnp.sys and then just sitting there. Different Internet stations, it would appear that there is no definitive answer to this problem. It is recommended to recharge using recovery disks or hidden image.

I can't access the user manual as it is on the laptop so I've referenced various positions on the internet. I had created for repair and recovery disks when I bought the laptop and so on to different positions, I started my system with the repair disk and the process began.

Unfortunately, the screens that appeared were different from those in positions and as I don't have access to a manual, I don't know if I'm following the correct procedure.

Can someone provide me with a PDF for a C660 laptop user manual - 2 EV?

If someone can advise me how to reload Windows 7?

    Thank you in advance.

S user guides document can be downloaded from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_manuals.jsp
Anyway, if you created the recovery disc please start your laptop and press f12 to get into the boot menu. When menu of startup appears on-screen set recovery disc 1 into the optical disk drive and choose the CD/DVD device as a boot device and press ENTER.

Installation should start. What you need to do is just follow the menu on the screen. It should be similar as sown on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm

  • Satellite C660-1CN - touchpad do not start with Windows

    Hello
    I have problem with Toshiba Satellite C660 - 1CN PSC0QE.

Touchpad do not start with Windows 7 Home Premium.
All the drivers are up to date.
    BIOS - lastest.

After logon, I need to click on * double * "FN + F9" and after it is OK until the next reboot.

    I tried:
several drivers of Synaptics - no change.
    Reinstall Windows - no change.
Mini Windows XP Hiren - no work.
    Default BIOS - no change

After that I installed 'toshiba value added package' I can't turn on the touch pad at all.

To be honest, I never heard the show. According to specification for laptop, your laptop came with Win7 home premium 64-bit. With factory settings touchpad should be activated after the OS has started.
I can read you have reinstalled Windows. Have you reinstalled with the original recovery image and tested with factory settings?

  • Satellite C660 - intermittent failure of start

Last month my Satellite C660 intermittently won't start. Frequency of failure seems to increase.

The meter turns, the fan runs for 5 seconds (sometimes 15 seconds with an increase in speed at the end) and then the machine stops.

    No display of the bios.
In this case only, the PSU batteries only or both connected. With HDD inside or outside, with or without ram.

BIOS has been reset and updated and replace the bios battery.
    Without losing the connections internally.

    Product 19.3V DC POWER supply.
No obvious pattern as to when it will start, but when it's W7 works very well.

Would be grateful for any input.

    > In this case only, the PSU batteries only or both connected. With HDD inside or outside, with or without ram.
On this virtual path, it is not easy to say with certainty what the problem, but it must be something with the motherboard. One thing would be interesting: when the operating system starts correctly can you use unlimited number of time or is just cuts off after a while?

  • My Satellite C660-1UJ does not start

    Hello people,

My laptop Toshiba Satellite * c660-1uj starts up.

It does nothing when I press the powerbutton.
When I connect the poweradapter I hear a clicking sound, as it is with or without the battery and I also see the light (led) battery flashes green.

I think it has something to do with my motherboard, but I'm not sure.

I would like to be sure before you buy a new.
Does anyone know where the problem is and how to fix it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Sjoerd

    > I think it has something to do with my motherboard, but I don't know.
Yes, I think that this problem could be related to problems of motherboard.
But this would be the worst case, given that the new motherboard is very expensive part I gues guarantee is not valid?

But why you put the memory t-test? Faulty RAM memory may prevent startup laptop and power. Replace the RAM module is not very difficult.

Of course, you would need to buy new modules for verification, but maybe you could visit some technicians computer/laptop to downtown who could test the device with new RAM modules.
In this case it would be pointless to buy the parts for testing purposes only.

  • Satellite C660 - 2 EV starts plus-Boot not found Bishop

I don't know how but my grandson has seriously broken the Satellite C660 - 2 EV

Boot from the disk - Boot Mgr not found

Boot from the recovery partition - Boot Mgr not found.

Boot from an installation (generic) Windows 7 disk - boots, begins to install, finds, he does not have a required driver (but don't tell me what it is). Allows me to access the drives C:, D:, E:, and X:

Boot from recovery Toshiba DVD. White bar gets about 25% on the whole of the screen then stops with "You have removed a USB support during installation" (or something like that, laptop currently in pieces).

Removed and replaced the memory and DVD player. Removal of the HARD drive connected to my PC via the USB adapter and scanned the two visible partitions (300 GB each) at the level of bad sector. No problems.

    Help! I'm out of options.

Laptop must be functional (basically) as it starts from DVD (non-Toshiba).

HARD drive seems OK when verified externally and start (Non-Toshiba)

    What remains?

Everything that you have done is good, and I would do the same tests.

The value of the default BIOS and test it with another HARD disk, if you can get one for testing purposes.
I can't say for sure, but somehow, I feel THAT HDD is the troublemaker.
Try installing the DVD of initial recovery on the new HARD drive.

  • Satellite C660-1F1 has start off without warning

Recently my laptop Satellite C660-1F1 start off without warning and I read in other forums that it could be an overheating problem.

You have advice on how can I fix?

    Thank you
    Paul

Yes, one of the solutions could be the cleaning of the cooling fans.
Dust and debris inside the unit and cooling modules may affect the functionality of fan.
The air circulation could be affected too then remove the dust using a jet of compressed air.
Its good tool to get these issues resolved without separate laptops.
