Failover?

We have two of the ReadyNAS 516 on the same local network. We replace a Windows 2008 Server.

We want to have the primary NAS for storage and the 2nd as a backup (really as a failover - and we know it will be manual).

How can quickly raise us the 2nd unit as principal in the case of a total absence of the primary?

We have Setup with ReadyNAS Replicate, but it sounds like a backup and the restore process takes some time.

We have created this using RSYNC for each action to be run automatically every hour. If the head nurse fails and is no longer on the network, we substitute the same name as the primary name and restart.

User accounts and passwords do not have to be restored.

Once the secondary NAS runs with the name of the principal, the users can connect by using the same mappings. If the password is different, they will have to connect again.

We should not change the IP address. Just be care when if you mention the original SIN that the two devices is not the same name.

  • How to create a network redundant ISP failover using 2 Airport Extreme

    Hello friends,

I have 2 different lines of rented ISP related to my Airport Extreme 2. Was curious to know if these 2 AEs can be interconnected somehow to create a network of ISP failover. Users on AE 1 traffic would be transparent reassigned to the AE 2 and vice versa, if corresponding ISP fails. When the access provider is in place, they will return to their AE in elementary school.

    Thank you.

Not without a smart dual wan router. That is to say done good load sharing.

Extreme is about as simple a router you can find... He has the absolute minimum of functionality.

Users on AE 1 traffic would be reassigned transparent to the AE 2 and vice versa

You can do this by using some manual intervention... a simple change of entry door is usually sufficient.

  • FaceTime does not account for failover of screen lock

    Hi all

I've had this problem for a while now (at least since iOS 8) as well as with different iPhones (5, 5s, 6s). I usually failover of screen lock ON since I like to use my phone while on the couch or in bed and do not want to worry that the screen rotates another every minute.

The bug following (?) that bothers me and a lot of my girlfriend:

Screen rotation lock, I lie in bed (would be horizontal mode but it is vertical because it is locked) and I run a FaceTime call.

-> FaceTime uses horizontal mode and ignores the lock of flipping screen in a vertical position

Screen rotation lock ON, I start the FaceTime call in vertical mode-> all is good.

Until I turn to another application, while holding the iPhone horizontally. The other application is in vertical mode (as it should be as flipping screen lock is on) but as soon as I return to FaceTime, FaceTime ignores the failover of screen lock and switch to horizontal mode.

    The solution in both cases:

    (1) I have to disable the blocking of the rotating screen (SRL),

    (2) hold the iPhone upright,

    (3) wait until FaceTime changes in vertical mode,

    (4) to activate once again, SRL

    (5) lie down with my iPhone in landscape mode.

I don't see how this can be a feature! We are the only ones who are bothered by that?

If you have a solution, please tell me. If this is not a bug but a feature, please describe a situation where this behavior makes sense.

    I thank very you much.

    Best regards

    Maxim

Wait for the next update of iOS (9.3), it won't take very long I guess.

  • Failover of DAG 2013 Exchange in Outlook problem

    Hi guys,.

I'm trying to configure DAG for the first time on Exchange 2013.  Here's what I did:
-Installed Exchange 2013 std on two virtual machines

    -Set up a witness server

-Created the DAG (server name, directory witness and he has assigned an IP address)

-J' have set up my databases and added the copy of database

-Checked DAG health Active confirmed and index as healthy state

    -Verification of databases is mounted

    Here's the problem I have...

When I powerdown one of the exchange servers, after that the exchange server starts to close Outlook (2013), poster "folder updated XX: XX."  trying to connect.
When I check the connection status in Outlook on the workstations, it shows the status of 'Connection' and after a few minutes (between 5 and 10), it finally connects and everything works fine.

I tried researching this issue and that you have used the following command in the hope, would solve the problem, but it does not

    [PS] C:\>get-OutlookAnywhere | Set-OutlookAnywhere - InternalHostname mail.labtest.co.uk - InternalClientsRequireSsl $false

    My questions are:
    1. I guess that's not just that it takes more than 5 minutes for Outlook to connect when the failover of DAG?  What additional steps need to be checked to prevent this (as I thought that take seconds to scan more)

    2. If a witness server goes down / fail, does that mean that all Email clients will stop working (IE send/receive)

If this is the case, is it possible to configure a failover of witness? or is it something that should be created in case of failure?

Thanks a lot for any intervention in the present.

  • Replication Failover clustering & Hyper-v on a two-node cluster

    Hello

We have two identical servers.  One to use as a main server, which houses two virtual machines.  The other should be used as a back up in case the main server is not somehow.  We planned on using a solution of third-party software to back up our virtual machines and launch them in the event of failure of the principal server.  However, we discovered just gave the failover clustering in Windows Server R2 2012.

We have tried to set up a cluster 2 nodes, with our virtual machines properly replicated to the backup server.  Excited by the present, we tried then to simulate failure of the primary server (by pulling on the cable network).  We were a little disappointed to find that the backup server is not automatically run virtual machines.  We did a survey and read than a solution of two nodes requires storage space for additional network (in addition to our two servers).

I wonder if that's okay?  In other words, a two-node failover cluster requires separate network storage space.  If this is not correct, can someone point me to a set of instructions to correctly configure a two-node failover cluster that will automatically launch the virtual machines on the server backup (in the case of a failure of the principal server).

    Thank you

  • How to make available public folders after a SCR failover

    Hello

My company has an infrastructure of Exchange 2007 SP2.

We have 2 servers for mailboxes in CCR cluster that also hosts the public folders.

We have a server SCR where replicate us all databases for site resilience.

Database of public records is also replicated with SCR replication on the server VCC (what is sense? is supported?).

I read the database portability TechNet article that addresses how failover to the server of the VCC.

But the document does not how to failover of the Public folder database on the server of the VCC.

I think I read that if PF is configured as CCR cluster I can't use native PF replication to replicate to another server.

What is the right way to put at the disposal of users in the case of a failover of server SCR PF?

I already grouped both nodes as local quorum.1st what I've done is MNS cluster but it does not fit our scenario.

  • Problems of AX150i cluster and failover

    Hi all.

    I tried to implement cluster failover on Win2003 x 64 with AX150i.

We already have a cluster configured with an AXE so I now it is not working properly.

The problem is that when I create a cluster node owns the disks and another should see drives but have no rights over them except wait for them to be released from the first node, but on my setup when the first node appropriating on diskettes, disks on the other node start to fail, they become unavailable , cluster service who sees and stops, so the second node becomes unavailable too.

I have the latest firmware installed, latest PowerPath and the latest Microsoft iScsi initiator installed.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

  • Management for EqualLogic failover port

    I'm setting up a Dell EqualLogic PS6210XV.
I configured dedicated management interface. When I disconnect the management on the active controller port, it is not automatically switch to the management port on the controller to start (as a port 10 GB of data). Please guide me how to do this fail over automatically.

    Hello

There is no automatic failover with dedicated Mgmt ports.  You will need to either restore a connectivity or a failover on the other controller.

  • How long does take vertical port failover?

We have the PS4110s, PS6110s and PS6210s couple, all redundantly connected to 2 switches (PS6210s don't have set up ETH0 on both controllers).

We need to replace one of the switches. I guess once we have cables or the switch, vertical, tipping is expected to launch, no?

Now the question is how in fact this changeover take? I found some inconclusive information as the 4110/6110, it might take up to a minute, 6210 being much faster?

Will be basically be interruption in connectivity to the hosts connected to the tables and the case, how long?

Most EQLs have currently active controller on the switch, which must be replaced.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Vertical flipping is almost instantaneous.  The failover time you speak is for controller all failover, not vertical port failover.

  • FS7610 failover

We have two FS7610 NAS devices.  They are not configured as a cluster, instead the FS7610 on our production site is replicated every hour on a FS7610 on our site of DR.

By reading the documentation on these devices, I see information talk a failover to a 2nd controller.  And I'm sure they're talking to the 2nd controller in the FS.

Is there documentation that lists the steps to follow for the failover to a 2nd FS, in our case our FS7610 DR?

    Hello

On the EQLSUPPORT. DELL.COM site with the FS downloads firmware you can download a PDF file that covers this process in detail.

Yes the cluster file shares are supported with SUCCESS / me.    If you think about it, SQL, Exchange are indeed a "sharing".   Because it is an NTFS volume with services that run against her.  SQL, Exchange or fileshare services.
