  • Com Surrogate "has stopped working" what installation police FTT on C drive under Vista 32 bit?

Last night, I acquired and scanned [for security issues] 3 font TTF files to install in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder as usual.

The first two fonts went fine, BUT the third "Berlin Email schéma" police threw up an error Com Surrogate "has stopped working".

As I said, I scanned the font files before any attempt to copy/install the...

I also ran a complete check & repair on drive C, last night, with no reported errors / bad sectors.

Now, I am running a full analysis of McAfee on my computer - which I doubt will lift up to the top of questions, but I try to be thorough.

Despite Com Surrogate, I have no problem display of media files, or opening files / media such as MP3s and JPEG playback.

Any suggestions? I don't want to run with a fixable problem unless I have to... and I would rather have back the possibility to install fonts for my graphics work [I have about 10 fonts plus the basic package provided by Microsoft, so far, so I'm not clog the system!]

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the response - in fact, I had tried the 2nd suggestion, after reading the other sons of COM Surrogate. It did not work.

However, in the pack of fonts that I downloaded, I noticed that it contained files of the Foundation as well as TTF versions... Curiosity got to me and police OTF files installed correctly [and work properly in Word and Photoshop] without these errors.

I can only imagine files TTF for 'Berlin Email' to Peter Wiegel variations of police [medium, outline etc.] that are widely available on the net must be correctly written. Although his records from OTF to the same fonts are very good [that are police records I have of other 3rd-party designer-programmers, installed on the same day].

As each disk check, the repair process, scanning and virus check is 100% clean, and all media connectedness files I use work perfectly, I'm 99.9% sure that it was a font error codes file and not any form of operating system error.

So my DEP settings are left on during all programs without exception, and I don't see any more errors.

  • COM Surrogate has stopped working suddenly?

I had my PC Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit since March, 2012.

Tonight, October 17, 2014, I started getting an error "COM Surrogate has stopped working" pop up, all the time, for no apparent reason.

I can not play with Windows Media Player AVI files without this message and ALSO a message that WMP has ALSO stopped working.

I can't play AVI files in right click on the video and using 'Play with WMP Basic' without also getting this message as soon as I do a right click.

I don't know if it's related, but since YESTERDAY I can't load YAHOO! in Internet Explorer. The page will simply not load, so I can't check my email official, formal and work-related.

Chrome works very well, so I CAN access YAHOO! my general, leisure, pleasure and e-mails related to the game.

I always allow upgrades of Windows, so I don't understand why it started to happen out of the blue.

I have a current Antivirus with BitDefender Total Security and perform regular maintenance.

Any suggestions on a fix for this?

    Thank you very much

  • COM Surrogate if you stop, explore Crash

Over the past week, I had a serious problem with my laptop.

Whenever I try to open the files image or video, play games, install the new software/updates, I get an error "COM Surrogate has closed", resulting in the Explorer crashing.

This happens several times in a row, and more recently, it has caused the Java to do the same thing.

I read on all Web sites on the issue, tried all the remedies, without success, including the CMD commands, etc.

Whenever I try to add the COM Surrogate DEP exclusions, Explorer crashes and must restart. I also can not delete all the files, if they are the image files, .exe for updates, videos, whatever it is.

The analysis through the command prompt resulted in a message there were errors and that they have been resolved and I had to reboot.

I rebooted and the problem persists. I have also restarted with a clean reboot and still the same issue

I rolled back to a previous restore point, and which had no effect either.

This all started when I installed the latest round of Windows updates.

    I'm at my wit's end, I can't seem to find a solution.

    Running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64 bit

    AMD C - 50 1 GHz dual core

    4 GB of RAM

    6250-M AMD

I am running for the safety of MS Scanner and will update as soon as it's over.

There was this recurring error in the event viewer:

The ScRegSetValueExW call failed for FailureActions with the following error:
    Access is denied.

This error may be to have installed Panda as suggested in the following link:

    http://support.pandasecurity.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2402

Panda can prevent access to the registry and may affect the installation of the AMD graphics driver.

I would say, at least temporarily, to uninstall panda and see if you can install the graphics driver from AMD.

Consider the alternative security such as Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows built-in firewall software.

Also many applications were crashing with ntdll.dll, a component of Windows however another module as a module of AMD could actually cause accidents.

After return if application errors continue.

Just built a new pc and installed Windows 7, everything works fine but whenever I browse photos using the photo viewer, it freezes and opens with "COM Surrogate has stopped working" (after 10-20 photos - happens every time).

My system still be plagued by an erratic problem where when I right click on an icon of office, or the arrow that develops a folder in Microsoft Explorer, the cursor will be starts to turn and does not stop until I go in the Manager of tasks and select DllHost.exe (COM Surrogate) and select "END process". This way I can describe the cursor to this place is that it looks like water when you flush the toilet! As soon as I close COM surrogate the cursor returns to normal and I am able to continue then all operations without problem. It seems that this happens more frequently when I had Internet Explorer open. Things I did to solve this problem are the following:

    1. Done a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit and all programs. S
    2. Updated all drivers and programs to their latest revisions.
    3. Run Malwarebytes, an anti Root Kit MRT and Windows Defender Of-Line (booted from DVD) and find all own.
    4. Perform a clean boot.

LLA a recommendation that I have not done is to go into Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and disable DEP for COM surrogate (one in SysWOW64 (cannot disable one in System 32 folder).)

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.

From your post, it seems that you are facing problems with dllhost.exe (Com Surrogate).

    Try these steps and check:

    Method 1:

To find out if the problem is with windows or some hardware connected to the computer, I would say that you look up the number in safe mode . If the problem occurs in Mode safe, then one of the Windows Service can cause the problem.

    Method 2:

You can also go into Data Execution Prevention (DEP) and disable DEP for COM surrogate. To change the setting of the DEP and for more information on DEP check the links provided.
