A Microsoft support engineer remotely connected to my machine and was able to fix the installation/update directories corrupted microsoft who were at the origin of the problem. I managed to install office with success and things are back to normal. I had given up hope after my original support request (2 weeks back) and the first experience with the customer. But MS technical support engineers (the less one that helped me yesterday) seem to have a good idea of what was going on and was able to solve my problem quickly. Thank you MS support

  I have an old Dell Precision M70 I work to clean up to make a donation.  The laptop came with Windows XP, and I've upgraded to Windows 7.  I ran a utility to clean the hard drive boot and Nuke and thrown in my Windows 7 Upgrade disk.  I was surprised to see that it is installed, however, the activation key for Windows 7 Upgrade is not be accepted as a valid key.  I understand that it is a key to upgrade, but is it possible to validate anyway?

  I could give it's feel bad to do.  I would like to put this machine in fully functional form, but did not know that my upgrade product key should be rejected when I started.  I have a second laptop I had intend to do the same thing with, but don't have the key of the original product.

  Any advice on how to solve this key activation debacle would be greatly appreciated.  I would hate for my two licenses to upgrade Windows 7 will now be useless because I don't have the original XP Activation keys.  Never did.

  I downloaded Windows 8 a few days ago. I tried to create a system image to an external drive, Western Digital 500 GB (409 GB free) four times and each time after a few minutes a message said that the backup failed. The backup of the recovery Partition seems end OK every time. The failures occurred after a minute or two in the backup of the C: drive of the OS.

  The external hard drive checked OK. The player has already had an image of the system for Windows 7 which was removed before the backup attempt. Here are 2 messages I received as the backup failed. The other 2 were much the same, I think.

  After you have uninstalled both of these special runtimes of the VC (VC ++ 2012 (x 86) and (x 64)), reinstall it from Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 updated 4 of official Microsoft Download Center. Also, make sure that you do not install the security update as well to: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26999.

  If the above fails, rename folder caps caps-former...

  Note: You need to maybe uninstall and reinstall applications CC except CC Adobe app.

• Dell XPS 8700 - failure of the keyboard when the bios boot (but not when Windows is loaded)

  My Dell XPS 8700 has 10 Windows and a Logitech Keyboard wireless, connected by USB. The keyboard works absolutely fine when Windows has loaded. I have the latest version of the bios, A11.

  However, when the computer is turned on and starts the bios start, it displays 'Keyboard Failure' on the screen for about half a second. When I try to go into the bios setup by pressing "F2" at the counter (I keep typing "F2" from the moment when I press the power button on the computer), there is no answer. The "keyboard failure" and inability to enter the bios setup seems to happen if I do a cold immediately after a stop start, a cold start after the computer is turned off for an extended period or a reboot.

  I tried to connect the wired keyboard original Dell one of the USB ports on the front of the unit (without disconnecting the wireless keyboard) with the same problem at the start of the bios.

  I encountered this problem on versions of bios A11 both A03. I know that in the past, although I don't remember when - I was able to enter the bios setup by pressing "F2".

  Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

  You can try and reset the CMOS. It will return your settings to factory settings, but not the version. Usually, this erases these problems because CMOS stores data editable such as your wireless keyboard settings. BIOS stores the information about the basic material that is unchangable as your keyboard usb, mouse and other essential equipment. If you notice, when you just plugin any keyboard and mouse, its recognized at startup. Your needs software to run wireless device and that is stored in the CMOS.

  So once reset you the CMOS, you may need to then install the wireless software.

  There seems to be several ways to warn the operator on the nature or the reason for the failure. Everything that happens now is that the Red 'sequence Failed' popup appears, and the operator gets to install UUT following. This example uses the template of "Sequential" standard.

  I am looking or the other

  1. change each affected step and change in 'Action', then adding a step later that displays a message if the stage previous "failed", then fail the sequence. Or perhaps a variant of that, to change the step so he can skip the next step if 'Pass', the next step was to pop the message and fail.

  Please help me solve this problem.  I have automatic updates set to say "updates are ready for your computer.  Click here to see these updates'; Here is the little yellow icon in the system tray low to the right of my screen.  What happens when I click on this icon is usually I then click 'express install' (and non-personalized) and then press "install".

  My computer sometimes slows down a bit that it downloads / installs these updates and which can be quite a pain in the thigh because it effects everything that I'm working at the moment, and of course because you have to restart the computer.  I have external hard drives 4 or 5 so I to sequentially turn them off one at a time by ejecting them, turn off the computer and then start it back up and restart the hard drives.

  In any case - I can never remember to "SOME UPDATES COULD NOT BE INSTALLED the SCREEN" so I'm at a loss to know what to do.  My computer is perpetually slow because the small yellow Update icon sits in the systray continually trying to draw attention to me and when I do the same thing continues to be time and again - failure!   I tried closing down my antivirus and windows firewall, but nothing helped.
