Fake Flash install

So I was asked the other day to update Flash player. Everything looked like it normally does so I continued to download and install the update of flash, however, after downloading in noticed something that I worry about. It had to do with the URL: https://get3.adobe.com/flashplayer/update/ppapiosx/

The "3" shortly after "get" will seem familiar. What I need to know, is if it's a legitimate link? Otherwise I need to get this app to red and remove, if possible, here is an image of the file in question.

@herrendez

Yes, this is a legitimate URL.  Please check before installation.

  • Firefox does play not any what Flash, even with the latest Flash installed

    Hello

My firefox is unable to play any Flash for months.

    Here are the questions:
    1. If I want to watch videos on Youtube, it turns out to be just as black (by clicking on the video can trigger the icon well break).
    2. If I want to watch a Web site with Flash, it just loads the first 2 seconds and then Flash freezes.

I have read all the help information in the forum and tried several solutions (see below), but none of them worked:

    -Uninstall and reinstall Firefox
    -Uninstall and reinstall Flash:

          1) when entered Youtube without Flash installed, the website asked me to install Flash but it somehow ended to a failure so I had to manually download and install
          2) after installing Flash, I also went to: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. I can see the version info but not the animation of the banner - it just shows a red box and then disappears after a few secs.

    -Reset Firefox
    -Use mode browser safe
-Install the latest version of Realplayer
-Analyze the State of the plugin on the Web site: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
-Disable hardware acceleration in the advanced option
    -Regenerate the file "pluginreg.dat".

I use WIn 7 (64-bit), with Firefox 24.0 and Flash11_8_800_168. I spent too much time on this issue and now I use Chrome to view the video.

Hope this can be resolved with your help.

    Thank you!
    -Jeffery

Hi Jeffery, I'm not familiar with a lot of your plugins. In the event that one of them could have an impact on Flash content, could disable you any that you do not use on a regular basis? (Set to 'never activate')

  • The fake Flash Player update infects Macs with Shareware

This isn't a question, but just an info > see below:

(I hope), anyone who has used computers for some time must be aware of the ritual without end of update Adobe Flash against security vulnerabilities. Even if you run Flash on your computer, you have probably seen many titles in the media of tech in the years of the importance of keeping Adobe Flash (and his crony Acrobat PDF Reader) updated to protect against malicious attacks.

Then, what better way to trick someone with their computer infected only by disguising it in an actual Adobe Flash update?

It is precisely this that criminals are now, in their attempts to infect the Apple Mac users with scareware.

The first sign you will see that the criminals are looking to infect your computer Mac OS X is if you see a pop-up window as it appear while you browse the web: (photo here)

The beauty of this approach, point of view of criminals, is that the attack is not invoke any software vulnerability or exploit. Instead, social engineering is used to fool the uninformed user unwittingly download and does not perform a fake Adobe Flash version - designed to infect their computer with scareware.

  • Watch Flash install drive upward

It was late... I accidentally installed the latest version of Flash Player for mac on my pc :/ So, flash player does not have to download that I need. I tried to install the windows version, but it says I already have the latest version. I tried to uninstall the mac version, but it is not possible to uninstall. I tried the system restore, but my pc ran into problems. I undid the system restore, but now I'm back where I was. I need the windows version of flash player not the mac. Any suggestions?

The Mac version wouldn't install on Windows, if something happens.  Most applications that use Flash Player do by incorporating an Internet Explorer window in the program.  If you have Flash installed in another browser, that wouldn't help.  Using IE, go to our download page: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and launch the installation.

If you are on Windows 8 and you use older applications, it can no longer works.  Flash Player is built directly in Internet Explorer on Windows 8 and higher, but the application expects things like the way in which they were on Windows 7 and below.  There is not really a way to get around that.

To give you some useful tips, I'm going to need learn more about your computer and your browser:

Just tried to switch to Firefox of Safari - how can I get rid of a recurring pop-up that asks if I want to install Flash to view content on the site web I just tried to visit. I have blocked in the preferences pop up windows.

This may cause me to stop using Firefox as I don't want Flash on my computer--because of the continuous demands to store unknown information on my computer.

In the old version of Firefox 30 that you seem to be using, you can switch pref plugins.notifyMissingFlash false on the topic: config page.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

Disable a built-in version of Flash and maintain the only version you downloaded separately activated. Here's how:
    1. click on Start, select all programsGoogle Chrome.
2 type Subject: plugins in your address bar window.
    3. click on turn off the option of Shockwave plugin. It appears usually when you scroll down to the bottom of the window. Then restart Chrome.
Try to remove your Chrome default user profile data. These data are stored in the "Default" folder in the Google app data folder. Here are the steps:
    1. click on Start, select my computer.
    2. open the following directory:
    C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\UserData
    3. click right default folder, select the Remove option.
    4. confirm by pressing there.

  • Ask not recognize Flash installed

    Hello

I had a problem of Flash I did a thorough cleaning according to the instructions. (All that flash and Macromedia stuff)

Then I installed Adobe Flash Player. (It plays Youtube very well where I have gad the problem before). However when I want to launch Incredimail is what is happening:

I start IM. Request window for permission to Adobe to change the computer no matter what. (Do not set is to ask by the way.) I allow it. He then install Adobe Flash. Who is aborted and an error window appears, saying that Windows Explorer already has the latest Flash built in. I'm OK. Then a last window appears saying that IM will not work until I have install Flash. Who can I cannoy install because it says that its built in. ??? So that's a total cannot loop.

I tried to add permissions to the shock wave that has not helped. Easter is coming and I can't send eggs!

    Any help appreciated,

    Solved!

Nothing has worked, however, I finished subsequently update of Internet Explorer - and that's who did it! Now remember that this was despite the fact that it is set to automatic update.

  • Latest version of flash installed, but I get an error message that Flash is not installed

    Hello

I got a new computer running Windows 7 with SP1 family

Flash: You have installed 15,0,0,239 version

Flash is tested as works fine in Chrome and Firefox, but locally, it doesn't.

I have 2 requests of different telling me that Flash is not installed on my computer when I try to launch them (one being a user manual for one new screen from Samsung, the other 'killer network management').
I don't see how to solve the problem, an idea someone?

    THx in advance

    Mike

These local applications frequently integrate Internet Explorer.  Each browser has its own copy of Flash Player (almost anyway), so if you have never used IE on your system, you might need to start it and install Flash Player http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer to go beyond that.

  • GPO Flash install mixed versions of Flash

    Hello

I have (about 600) machines to customer of Windows 7 and Server 2008 environment. We have a mix of versions of Flash. Some installed by GPO and some installed manually. Some are updated (Version 15), and some are Flash 11.

Is it possible to get all client computers in the version 15 of GPO.

If I create a new Flash (V15) deployment package will update older versions or install side by side, IE to run an old version with the new version... or it will go horribly wrong :-(

    Hi Jason,

Only one version of Flash Player for ActiveX (for IE browser) or Plugin (non - IE browsers) can exist on a system, therefore, if you deploy and update for machines with version 11 of those machines will be updated to the version that you deploy on.
