Falling back to a physical Machine

We have virtualized a server to print a few weeks ago, but we had problems with it that do not exist on the physical hardware. I tried to get this machine virtualized for awhile now, but every time some printers hooked up when the print server has been virtualized. If I was stranded on the physical server, these problems went away.

I have had no problem switching back if the digital switchover occurred in a day or two, but now it's been a few weeks I've virtualized this machine. I think I'll just give up and fall back on the physical, at the moment, but when I tried to do I got some permission errors trying to connect to shares on the machine.

Is there something I need to do to get back to the physical machine after a long period, perhaps more precisely with Active Directory? Normally I simply turn off activate/NIC NIC and we would be good to go. Any ideas?

I agree - your Kerberos key is more than likely expired.  When we ever p2v print servers we always just do a new install.  I don't know why just our practice.  in any case to renew your kerberos, you could reboot and if it doesn't work you will need to join the domain. What kind of problems where you see? You opened a thread on it somewhere else in the forums?

See you soon,.

  • How can I activate my Webcam USB between my physical machine and VM

I am new and with a stupid newbie question. VMware Workstation 11 is able to detect and use my Webcam on my virtual machine of Ubuntu 14.4, also a long time I disconnects the USB camera after that starts the virtual machine and reconnect again to VMware he catches before my (windows 8.1) physical machine fact.

Is there anyway I could turn off the camera on windows manually to my vm it catches and turn it back to the when I'm done with the virtual machine. I don't have to work on the PC and reconnect everything all the time. Hope it makes sense. Thank you!

You can use the menu Workstation VM-> removable devices - to connect to the virtual machine or to connect to the host. If you connect the device to the virtual computer, it is disconnected from the host. After completing your work with the virtual machine, you can disconnect from comments and connect it to the host.

  • Use OEM Windows 7 Pro in virtual computer; Enterprise of Windows 8.1 in the physical Machine

    Hello

I need some real tips on Windows license manager that I don't want to go against all Microsoft software license.

As a backdrop, I have the following:

-an OEM Windows 7 Pro that came with the purchase of a Dell PC

-a license in Volume Windows 8 with Software Assurance purchased by my company

I would like to know if I can install the copy of the OEM Windows 7 Pro in a virtual machine on the Dell PC, while having a Windows Installer on the physical PC/computer Dell 8.1. i.e. physical Machine Dell PC = Windows Enterprise 8.1; Virtual machine in the same Dell PC is Windows 7 Pro OEM.

I don't want to do a dual boot to install because it will be difficult to remove once my 3rd party applications fully supports Windows 8.1; and I also want to keep my PC as clean as possible. I also can't use one of the Open License of Windows 8 as a lower upgrade to Windows 7 as this installation will take another license to use.

I read from the windows 7 EULA that:

'Use with Virtualization Technologies. Rather than use the software directly on the licensed computer, you can install and use the software within the virtual (or emulated) only on the licensed computer system... »

I was wondering that the clause applies, but I don't know if the OEM Windows 7 Pro can be activated on a virtual machine because I don't have the OEM product key.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It's the same clause I was going to paste attesting that you can install the license OEM Windows 7 in a VM.

In addition, since you have Windows Enterprise 8.1, you can use the built in Hyper-v:

Windows 8 integrates into hypervisor called Hyper-V.

This requires that your processor supports the translation of the secondary addresses.

To see if your processor is supported:

Press the Windows key + X

    Click on programs and features

Click on turn Windows features on or off

See if you can check off Hyper-V and all its options of void

If this isn't the case, it does not support Hyper-v.

You can use alternatives such as Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare Player.

  • Share the reader of fingerprints between the physical Machine and VM

I have a lenovo W541 with build - in fingerprints, how to share.

PM with W8.1 already use it, how to use it also to open a session in OS in WM?

    Best regards

    Paolo

    Hi Paolo,.

Also, I have a Thinkpad W541 and scratched my head on how to use the fingerprint reader, integrated runtime for example 10 Windows on a virtual machine-machine since my cell phone - and then came across this thread.

After comparing the 'Device Manager' on my VM-machine as well as on the physical laptop I have seen that on the VM machine there was no "biometric devices" not appearing on the VM machine. Of course, I also checked the hardware VM definition dialog if there was a possibility of adding such a device, but it was not.

So I thought that I was stuck. But I found a solution that is at least sufficient for my needs. I noticed that one of the icons on the side in the bottom right of my machine-VM running (running Windows 10) - there is an icon that has been disabled but when hovering with the mouse it will read "validity sensors sensors Synaptics PS (WBF) (PID = 0017).

After a right-click and selecting "Connect (disconnect host)" there's a new device that appeared in the Windows Device Manager 'Unknown device' and opening than treeviewitem I clicked and chose "Install driver" and voila! Now my built-in fingerprint reader can be used when running Windows 10 under my VM workstation!

It is not ideal because it allows to disable the fingerprint reader on the BONES of the physical machine too long that the Windows 10 VM machine is running, but I can live with that. And the good side is that Windows (?) is smart enough to automatically re-enable the drive of fingerprints on my physical machine as soon as the machine-VM is closed / stop.

    I hope this helps!

My computer crashed two weeks ago and all software had reinstalled in another HD. The first hard drive still has all the files and are readable. Where can I find the old catalog fall back all my work?

My lightroom was great before the crash to work and I have a lot of work still pending.

You will need the catalog file and all your images. If you have also stored your images on which crashed HDD you will need to copy them as well.

The default location of the LR catalog file is in your user name folder in the folder on the ROOT of the drive users

Welcome to the community - set the networking of VM bridged and all virtual machines must see the network with no NATing.
