Family Windows XP Edition repair facility

I had a few problems with programs on my Dimension 3100 recently that I suspected were due to registry problems that could be fixed by a repair of Windows installation.

I do a repair of Windows, but not with a Dell supplied disk installation, because I have no one. It is for Windows XP Home Edition, however, just as he had on it.

Things seem to install fine, and the computer appears, other than my current question, work pretty well.

This issue is with activation. I found how to reset the activation timer, somewhere online and did it, to enter Windows in something else than safe mode, to get where things are now. However once things are running the activation process works just simply. I don't know why he gets up at all, as it was not mentioned in what I had read about the repair installation process.

I tried to enter the key from the sticker on the computer case, but he said that it is an incorrect product key.

What is the solution?

Looks like you did a repair install using retail media instead of OEM media... You need the correct OEM installation media.

However, Windows XP has reached the end of their lives since April 2014, and its continued use is not recommended especially for internet usage. This system hardware is quite low and not useful upgrade to a modern Windows operating system. If on a budget, the price of a retail Windows license is similar to the cost of buying a second hand OptiPlex 780 that has superior material with a Windows 7 OEM license and take the free upgrade to Windows 10.

  • I have the basic family Windows Vista Edition key which is on the side of my computer but I can't reinstall it because I don't have an installation disc.

    OK, I got Windows Vista Home Basic on my computer and my hard drive crashed while I do not have the recovery partition. The key is always on the side of my computer. I wonder how I can get a basic Windows Vista Home Edition installation disc without having to purchase and any other key.

    You don't have to buy another license.

    How to get Vista recovery Media.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • Legality of the basic family Windows Vista Edition installation of Windows 8
    I have an OEM version of Windows Vista Home Basic (legally bought). I can install it on one new PC (other than the one on which I installed for the first time) and upgrade to a legally purchased the retail of Windows 8. As far as I know, the OEM licenses are tied to the first PC where they are installed. So is it legal according to Microsoft to use to upgrade to Windows 8 on another PC.
    Any useful response will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.
    You can buy a copy OEM System Builder of Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro that look like copies of detail and includes the rights of transfer to a new computer or motherboard.
    In addition, you can buy recently 8.1 for Windows or Windows Pro 8.1 update retail copies which are actually full versions.
    Hello
    I'm running a Compaq Presario S4020WM and have Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 3) installed.  I got this computer as a gift and it came with this operating system.  The operating system is not a genuine copy of windows (he says it's a version of test on my desktop wallpaper).  The sticker on the computer, says that he supplied with Windows XP Edition original family.  I would like to reinstall Windows XP Home Edition on the computer, but I don't have the installation disc.  I contacted the web site of the window and chat with technical support.  They asked me to contact the manufacturer of the computer for my specific product key installation disc.  My product key is [personal information deleted], my product number is DK214A and the S/N is[personal information deleted].  I know I am not pleased under warranty, but I would be eternally grateful if you could send me the Installation disk for Windows Home Edition for this particular product key.  Thank you.
    I want to know:
    If the Service Pack 1 system is updated or not?
    If the update, how?
    You can use another computer if needed to download the latest service packs.  Usually, you just load the latest service pack, but in the case of XP, you must have at least service pack 1 installed before you can install Service Pack 3.  The following article gives links to where you can download all the service packs.  Download them on another computer if you don't connect with your computer and move / install them using a USB drive or burn them on a CD...
