Fan noise L670-15 - overheating and strong satellite causing crash?

Hello, my name is Maria and I'm from Moscow.

I bought this laptop (Toshiba Satellite L 670-15) December 16, 2010, and from the beginning I had problems with it. Before that I managed to install all the programs, he said: "there is not enough memory", I couldn't install updates important and software worked very slow. I took it to the RSS service and warranty Center, they changed a hard drive it and reinstalled Windows.

Later, approximately in a month, my laptop began to have hot, very bad, like iron and turns off. My friend cleaned and blew the laptop with an air canned. First three weeks, it worked fine, then repeated the problem. Before the end of my warranty period left is not so long and I took it to service center.

They took my cell phone and said: 'your laptop does not heat, it must be cleaned, it is not guaranteed attachment and it will cost 1 750 rubles (about 54 dollars). Is this normal? Why at least on the warranty period you can not offer me a free setting? In the service center they told me, that there are no other problems, with the exception of the dust, but I am always with my laptop at home, it is very clean here and no dust, I use the laptop, according to the user manual and I do not understand how in a short period of time it becomes so dirty that I can't work on it!

I need this laptop for my work, the service center took my cell phone for more than 2 weeks, but I refused to fix paid. After that I sent an e-mail to the Russian customers of Toshiba, but I was told that only RSS specialists can give me the right conclusion. Okay, it looks like that I don't have the choice. Yet once, I took my laptop to this service. In the request, I asked the system cooling, but still checked once, I got a call, my laptop heats, the cooling system is malfunctioning and he has no problem, except dust. OK, I agreed this time to do a cleanup and paid 1750 rubles, but they even did not extend the period of warranty for two more weeks, which they spent to repair my laptop. And what do you think?

Just two weeks from that day I took the laptop and it gets hot again and when I leave it for a while and it supposed to go for hibernation, it turns off and when I turn it on, it asks: "Do you want to change the mode windows safe?" and I have to rebuild my word documents and Google chrome after the error.

I bet the problem is not in the dust, and I don't know why Toshiba won't help me and correct my laptop for free. I have all the documents and copies of letters. I think that I have no choice, but I need to prove that the problem is not in the dust and I want my money back in return - for laptop and for fixing, without doubt, if Toshiba cares about their customers, I have to take my laptop to the independent expertise and to go to the Court, or maybe you have any ideas?

> They took my cell phone and said: 'your laptop does not heat, it must be cleaned, it is not guaranteed attachment and it will cost 1 750 rubles (about 54 dollars). Is this normal?

I have fear of the AEP is fair and is not guarantee case m

It s nothing unusual that laptop s cooling fans should be cleaned from time to time. Only do it with my two different notebooks from different manufacturers.
I use my laptop at home, the other on a trip and the two needs to be cleaned. I use a simple compressed air jet to get the dust removed.
It's good enough to clean the cooling modules.

Here is a nice and useful of the Toshiba knowledge base document:
+ How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system +.
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD7A01ZZ000AR01.htm

But if cleaning cooling modules does not help, I recommend changing the settings of the power plan of the Win 7.
Reach:
Changes in the operating system:
--> Power Options control panel--> change the parameters of plan--> change power avancΘs--> TOSHIBA Power Saver Settings--> cooling method

Try here the setting: Max performance.

Also go to TOSHIBA HW--> CPU frequency mode
Here the value of the parameter: switchable Dynamics

In the BIOS, try this setting:
Changes in the Bios (power management):
Intel Turbo boost Technology-> disable

Hope that this would be to keep the temperature at the lower level.

Can I just swap, or do I have to change something

Is there anyway I can say that the current of the processor to run

    Thank you

As noted by James energy saver controls the speed of the CPU and cooling method.
You can change the settings and check if it will help.
But a question; How much time do you use this laptop or how old is?
Sometimes after long use, that dust and debris could have a bad influence on cooling and fan modules.
For the most part a cleaning cooling module would avoid overheating. But I would not recommend to clean the laptop yourself if you have no experience.
In my opinion a technician should do.

  • Satellite L670-184 overheating and crashing

    Hello
I bought this laptop a few months ago, I am very satisfied on this product, except for this: whenever I have ask complex tasks, as a recent game, the laptop go very hot, even if the ventilation system is not obstruated at all. The PC go warm, until it crash and downtime. Then it is impossible to start for another ten minutes, or the driving power remains off.

Some simple tasks can cause overheating too: I was very surprised to see Heroes III or Google Chrome with many tabs cause the crash as Crysis 2 or Shogun 2 TW.

How could I solve this problem without adding a few external mechanical fan? This is a caracreristic of the product, or is it an effect of manufacturing on only my laptop?

Thanks for your help and please forgive my weak English of Scripture!

    > whenever I have ask complex tasks, as a recent game, the laptop go very hot, even if the ventilation system is not obstruated at all. The PC go warm, until it crash and downtime.

This is because all devices like CPU or GPU running at high performance and creates a lot of heat. This is nothing unusual. But it of unusual that your laptop is overheating.
I think that the cooling fans and grilles are obstructed by dust and cannot cool the parts properly.

The vents should be cleaned from time to time using a jet of compressed air.
I have to do this from time to time on my laptop to avoid these annoying cell phone problems.

  • Satellite 2450 S203 fan noise problems

    Hi guys

I had a Sat 2450 S203 since October 2003 and have recently noticed that whenever I run memory intensive programs fan noise levels are excessive and constant!

If someone could Advisor on the replacement of the fan and know if I should do it myself. Please also comment on the impact on costs as well. Are there other ways around to get rid of this problem?

    Hello

After this long period, your device must be cleaned properly. I guess that dust inside the unit don't allow adequate cooling and cooling fan must often runs and faster to cool the hardware components. It is not only specific for your device, but for all laptops.

I'm sure that after cleaning, your device can take a deep breath and will work a lot better and calmer. I noticed the same thing with my Satellite P20. After cleaning the laptop runs very quiet and cooling fan just works sometimes. I'm very happy now.

  • Dell studio 1558 fan noise problem

    Hello dell.

I wonder how many people got prob with studio dell 1558, just google and found most of them (all) having prolem with the dell studio 1558 fan noise.

    What happens in my case:

The fan noise was ok before a few weeks ago, and he started 2-3 weeks back. aaftre fans of 20-30 sec noise suddenly and during idle sound Inc. is not normal/quiet a bit different than usual.

The fan noise is really annoying and it constantly happens not even a minute, it stops.

So in my case I think that it may be hardware fan prob because I wasn't this prob when I bought this system may be fan is going to jam in a near future?

    It's my system config:

    Studio 1558:

    : Processor Core i3 M350 2.27 Ghz processor

    RAM: 4 GB

Gfx card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

    HARD DRIVE: 500 GB

    Slot load CD/DVD player

P.S.: My CD/DVD drive and HARD drive recently prob SO dell replaced both.

Today engineer came to my house and the replacced he fan + heatsink. Thermal paste is already on it I guess, it has not applied separately.

    Fan runs smoothly.

Failure: in fact the outer part of the radiator is responsible for this when the engineer came out the part and he hit an outside party who is also visible (Manager) of air is broken.

It was broken when an engineer trying to clean the fan lol.

I've also attached the image of the broken part. Image is not good but always visible

  • Satellite A505-S6973 is overheating and the fan runs often

I hate doing this, but it seems to me have encountered another problem that I was responsible for research and reading hoping to correct me. I currently own a Satellite series laptop PC with an Intel Cor 2 Duo T6500 processor 2.1Ghz.

I followed my system for performance issues andi who have noticed for some time (not sure when) has significantly increased the temperature on my system. I'm seeing from my PC Health Monitor my processors running at 59% temperature and fan speed is at 78% and yet when I place my hand near the cooling fins on the side of my laptop, I can barely feel any breeze, but a colleague of mine has a vostro and fan feels like it will run on amendments.

If there is nothing that can be done, I would be very happy, I'm afraid of losing my system because of something simple that cause overheating.

NB. I noticed that at the same time different users posted threads indicating that after updating he BIOS they have known overheating problems. If this is the cause of anywhere near it please help.

    Hello

    Just a question;
    The unit automatically shut?

If this is not the case then you cannot talk about overheating only because the temperature has risen to a higher level.
The temperature of the laptop up and down and it depends on the use of the laptop.
The cooling fans would go faster too if the temperature would be going upward.

It's not unusual and it s a common behavior of mobile.

As I said; the laptop would be down automatically stops if the temperature would be too high! If this isn't the case, then you should not be worried about the temperature.

    Welcome them

  • On Satellite A205-s5852 fan noise

    Hey
I have a month old Satellite A205-s5852, the fan is sometimes very quiet and you can not hear it and at the same time, it goes to full spin, creating a noise or a couple of seconds, then it becomes quite new.
This cycle occurs every time when the laptop is on. I was wondering if such a thing is normal.

    > fan is sometimes very quiet and you can not hear it and at the same time, it goes to full spin, creating a noise or a couple of seconds, then it becomes quite new. This cycle occurs every time when the laptop is on. I was wondering if such a thing is normal.

Is nothing unusual because the fan starts to spin when the temperature rises to a higher level.
The laptop with a stronger CPU, GPU, HARD drive, etc. produce more heat than other portable weaker and therefore these laptops must be cooled very often as a laptop which was equipped with a low level CPU, GPU or HARD drive

Second heat dissipation depends on the use of the laptop. High performance software needs of more material resources and so the pieces of equipment to operate with higher performance and produce more heat.

Finally and above all the power options settings can modify the behavior of cooling and can reduce the rotation, but generally this means that your material would reduce the performance to make sure that the heat dissipation would be less.

  • On Satellite P850 - 30Q fan noise

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite P850 - 30Q a week ago and overall, I love the machine, nice design, good performance, great speakers... BUT:

The FAN NOISE is driving me crazy? I had a lot of laptops different in my life, but never experienced something like this. Normally I don't notice not the fan, but this laptop I noticed that the fan.

At idle, I can hear the HARD drive - I can live with that.
Fire use, desk and surf the internet and as the fan lights up now and then to 53% and really loud! -Its disturbing when I'm trying to study?
When I play games the fan is 53% permanently, and after like 5-15 min, to happen to + 80%, what is really strong? -I can live with the fan when I play games, but not when I study or use it for use of the lamp in the train or the school.

Am I the only one to go through this?

If there is no resolution, I will return the product to the store. Its just sad when I like the rest and despite the fan Im happy on this issue.

    Hope you can help.

    > great but when I play games it rattles

Have you noticed the usual fan noise or noise appears as something wrong with ball bearing cooling fan would be?

It s nothing unusual as fans of cooling would turn faster everything!
While gaming, the GPU and the CPU produce a lot of heat. This increases the temperature and therefore the propellers rotate faster. Here's how it works!

But if the fans create an unusual sound, then that would mean that the cooling module may be defective and THIS should be verified by technicians is why would I wait not for any solution, but IF it's a hardware problem, the solution is just a replacement of parts.

  • Satellite A660-12 t / A660-1FL - which we have less fan noise?

A couple of days, I received my brand new Toshiba A660 12 t. Everything is perfect except the noise from the fan. It is particularly strong for me that I often use the laptop in the library. For simple tasks, the fan runs between 59% and 67%. I tried different things to play with the power settings for the Bios upgrade and graphics card but nothing has changed.

Now I want to go back and change it with the Toshiba A660-1FL. Why this one? Two laptops have the same characteristics and the same price except the graphics card and the CPU. mine comes with Nvidia 330 m and I5-430. on the other side, the A660-1FL comes with the integrated Intel GMA HD and the I5 - 460.
I thought that maybe the graphics card is the reason!
Does anyone know if the fan noise will be reduced if I use a less dedicated graphics card? Should I change? in this case the GMA HD is a good graphics card?
If someone uses a Toshiba A660-1FL, could you please tell me if the fan is strong?

I appreciate your help. Thanks in advance

    Hello

NVidia GPU is a powerful graphics card, and especially these maps are designed for games.
The GPU from Intel is also a good graphics chip, but it of not powerful as the nvidia chip.
The nVidia chip would allow the current apps much smother but it creates more heat.

This would affect the cooling fans which means that the fans would go more quickly and often.
So, theoretically the laptop with Intel GPU should be a little more quiet.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - is overheating and shuts

    Hello

I have a problem with my A60. I start and everything goes OK. I put in a temporary monitoring software because it works for awhile and then just stop. What I see happening now, is that it will heat up to 65 then the fan comes on and at 55 it stops. This can happen a few times, and then he forgets turn on the fan. After that he climbs slowly until she happens to 85 when he cuts. I bought a stand 3 fans and now it stays on as long as when it goes on the fan circuit anointed, gets it to 77-80 and stays on. The problem is if I USE then overheating and stop again.

What control actually (and fails to start) the fan cut in the process. This part of the function of the BIOS? Updated BIOS ver 1.7 to ver 1.9 will make a difference? I'm afraid that this update will not end before overhearting and I'll be left with an unusable machine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    >.. .a finds a way to fix it properly.
This type of hardware components are not fixed but replaced so if you think that the cooling fan is defective exchange it.

One more thing, the vacuum cleaner is OK, but you can't wait to clean up your laptop to look like new. I disassembled my Satellite M70 and was surprised how much dust was inside.
Just after the withdrawal of the ventilation openings, I was able to clean it properly.

  • Fan on my M30 runs often and strong

    Branislav salvation,

Your fan of cooling rotates frequently and quickly is a symptom of overheating of the CPU. I would recommend that you clean all the dust and debris from the CPU heatsink to ensure that sufficient cooling air is allowed to pass by the matrix of cooling.

Secondly, I would like to check in the Task Manager for any of the tasks or processes that may be running and using excessice CPU. If you have not already done so I would like to start one or more spyware detection utilities (ad-aware and spybot or my usual) and remove infections that you find.

    Good luck

  • Satellite L650 1NC - the fan noise

I bought the laptop in February 2011 and the fan noise deteriorated over time, now. I've read many threads in this forum and elsewhere about this problem and I think that the problems are basically the same.

Now that I've read some that messages stating that the new BIOS, released in September have apparently solved the problem, I did a BIOS update (Version 2.3) to meet the same problem again.

The fan stops when the temperature is below a certain threshold, in my case according to CoreTemp it seems to be at about 50-55 ° C. At the moment the fan turns off, which is also confirmed by the monitor of health indicating the 0% fan speed.
This leads to the CPU temperature increases until the fan is used to about 55-60% fanspeed.
This process repeats every 15-20 seconds and is very annoying.

It gets worse, but if I start to actually do something like a request to open from the web browser - nothing serious, really, I don't want to start even complain about the noise while game/watch movies.
The fan speed will be 70-75% as soon as the CPU gets the work to be done.
The noise that results is unacceptable for 20-30 seconds.

Noise is an important factor for me. At the University I can't use it as my fellow students are too distracted by its noise. To work my colleagues began to complain as well.
As I use my cell phone while being out of my own office/home it is basically useless for me now.

Has anyone else still issues after the recent updates to the BIOS?
Is there a way to put the fan always runs at around 30-40%?

    All opinions are appreciated.

    Hello

Cooling module performance depend on the internal temperature.
If the temperature arise at a higher level, the fan must turn more quickly to prevent equipment overheating it's usual behavior.

But you can try to change some Windows 7 power management settings.
This will reduce the performance of the CPU and the dissipation of the heat and that should slow down the activity of the fan too.

Here is instruction how to change the Windows 7 power management.

My laptop satellite keeps overheating and stopping when doing hard CPU work. The thing is if I open power management and keep the reset of the method of cooling performance max speed up the fan and it cools.

It does not seem to adjust the speed of the fan if left only you I have to keep changing it and in a minute or two, it slows down again and then have to change once again at the speed of the fan to the top.

No idea why this is happening and how to fix it? Grateful for any help. Thank you arran

    Hello

In my opinion your laptop should be cleaned in professional way. I put t know why you n t mention which model of laptop you have, but I know that some models are not easy to clean because of construction and must be dismantled.

  • Satellite A500: update BIOS V1.50 is fan noise problem reappears

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 with fan noise problem.
It has been partially resolved the upgrade of BIOS from v1.20 to v1.30, according to this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=0&TSTART=0

Yesterday I updated the BIOS v1.50, and the sound of the fan returned.
I do not recommend this upgrade if you have had the problem of fan noise.

I have downgrade BIOS v1.30 and fan noise problem is solved again.
I know that people have problems to get the downgrade to BIOS, so I describe the process in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50577&TSTART=0

Thanks mate for sharing this with us

But perhaps you could use the v1.5 BIOS and could reduce or reduce the activity of module cooling in Vista/Win7 power management settings.
It would be interesting to check it out

In any case thank you for this info
