Fan of mid-2010 MP in power supply

The fan in the power supply of my Mac Pro (mid 2010, OS 10.11.5) began its decent slow in death - intermittent squeaking. I hesitate to pay a few hundred dollars to replace the power supply just when a fan $ 20 will most likely do the trick.

(1) is that someone can confirm that the fan is replaceable? iFixit.com wasn't much help to answer this question, or for parts. Here's their entry: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+Pro+First+Generation+Power+Supply+Unit+Replacem ent/32222

(2) even in the case that does not know the answer to question (1), I want to give it a shot; can someone point me to a source of parts other than ebay.com, galaxyhp.com or Low End Mac google group? I'm happy to install an after-market fan, unless this is not recommended for a reason any.

(3) any other suggestions? (If the bearing is not tight, I'm curious to know if I can just pack the her with the fat.)

Thanks in advance!

I would try a few drops of Marvel mystery oil, he made fans years beyond their phase of freezing/grinding...

  • Questions about the replacement of a power supply for a P7-1235

I decided to do an update on my Pavilion P7-1235. I put in a graphics card and put in power level. After doing some research on this forum and others I know well enough that I need. The only question I have is about the food. I don't know what the original power supply. There is a vent on the side where it however. So I guess that there is a fan on this side of the power supply. This eating plan I get:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817139050 & TPK = % 20500% 20% 20modular %2 watt Corsair...

I noticed that the fan is on top? Now there is no high ventilation in my P7-1235, I worry for nothing? I think that all the supplys to look the same. What is the top of the fan page for? Or can anyone suggest a replacement perfect for my exact Pavilion model?

Sorry if the questions are stupid, but I'm still learning and want to do what I can myself!

    Hello

Yes, you can use the power supply the same way. The image is in a vertical position for the convience of the buyer. I have the same with number of power supplies and it was fine. You can check the following links people have set up exact POWER supply in different ways.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/Corsair-power-supply-cx500m

    However, please be aware of your power supply size and your case. If you have all materials/components in stock for your computer, then it is what it is;

    ATX case:

    : Height 39.4 (15.55 inches)

    Width: 17.5 cm (6.89 in)

    Depth: 40.9 cm (16,14 inches)

    PSU stock:

    (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches)

    And the power supply you want;

    Corsair size;

    "5.9"x 3.4"x 6.3"

As you can see the length of the Corsair is considerably larger than your stock of power supply. This could hampor of air or could even make it so the holes of the PSU and the case does not match. However, this is usually not what worry. The height and width that should be worried because the length rarely causes problems, I wanted to just make sure that you knew in advance.

Take advantage of your power supply; Corsair is a great brand.

  • Mac Mini (mid-2010) fan running full speed

I went on the hard drive of a few years for one SSD OEM and the fan runs all the time.  In my view, there is a connector on the card, which has no connection with it.

I read that this occurs when the thermal sensor is not placed on the new hard drive.

How many connection should be here soon out of the drive to connect to the map?

    How can I fix?

    TIA

The original HD had a sensor taped to the road with adhesive tape double faces. You had to move the sensor to the new drive. Without the detector, the fan runs at full speed.

    Hi all!

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Well, after years of abuse, the thinner rope (which connects to the Macbook) began to tear. I tried to drag an above shrink wrap to fix and make it last a little longer, but now I find myself stirring the rope around so he can start loading.

in any case, I found a company after-market on Amazon called Supsun making (link below) and recently purchased a. He said that going to work with my Macbook, but I think not even check what power mine use and after he woke up, I found out mine originally a 60w.

Will this hurt Magsafe Supsun 85w power adapter my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook in anyway?

    Hello

I have a M30X and months fans when I'm connected to the power supply do not stop. It's also stopping often enough. However, the laptop is not hot. Do you have any idea?
    Kind regards

    Armando

    Hello

If you connect the adapter to the laptop of Toshiba power saver change consumption patterns. Maybe the power mode with a different setting in the a? Basic setupa?. Please check the cooling method and change it to lower the level.

But of course, the dust and debris could have a bad influence on fan behavior.

  • Mid-2010 MBP loses battery power while you sleep

Hi everyone, I have replaced my MBP unibody mid-2010 with a spare battery and the laptop battery lost its battery power very quickly, during normal use and while you sleep. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me a different battery, and the same problems continue to occur, so I suspect that something is wrong with my computer at this point.

Above all, I had a second replacement battery installed when I wiped my computer clean and made a new fresh installation of El Capitan and the problem persists. The drain of the battery during sleep is even worse, it goes 100% to near depletion in a few hours.

I have read several threads on these issues but can't seem to find the one that matches my computer behavior or specific settings. I'd love some help troubleshooting this! Can someone kindly walk through diagnostics on this for me please? FYI I already have:

    (1) the drive repaired/checked permissions

    (2) reset the NVRAM

    (3) reset SMC

Thank you all and happy new year!

First, not all replacement batteries are at the height for use on portable Macs what OWC at macsales.com has batteries that are. The other thing is in what regards the battery life is what you do. As these effects for how long you can run on battery power only.  Ranging from light to moderate to heavy use. If you have things like an anti virus program on the MBP. It will run in the background. And to a certain extent, even in standby mode. That will exhaust the battery. Mac do not need anti virus programs. The amount of programs running in the background is all to one degree or another effect battery life.

  • Power supply is turned on, but not fans.

I have a Gateway with Vista Home 5478. My power supply is on, but the vista system will not start. The power light is on, but that's all. I also noticed that all fans, including the fans inside my diet, are dead. I changed power supplies, increased from 400 to 430 watts, and it has not changed a thing. Is this maybe my motherboard?

It looks like a hardware problem.

    Contact Gateway if under warranty.

If this is not the case, contact a local and trusted computer repairman.

  • Fan power supply ATX Vostro 420 * or shot? !

I'm looking to replace the power supply in my Vostro 420 with a standard ATX power supply.

New ATX power supplies have a large 120mm positioned on top of the PSU fan. Does this or *?

It is important because the Vostro is not really compatible with ATX design - the case has a solid above the PSU Panel so that the power supply unit must be mounted with the fan down on the mother/CPU card. A fan which breath would simply blow the hot air on the CPU.

Conversely, a fan who * would * hot air from the motherboard in the power supply and on the side.

None of these options is great.

I am puzzled how to mount a new ATX PSU and if the fan * or breath.

What is the best way to mount a new ATX PSU in a case of Vostro 420?

The shift of the 4 screws on the back, you CANNOT point the fan at the top.  He is pointing down and draws air upward.  Graphics also of VENTILATION at the back. AFAIKT ZERO types bring in air from the rear.  Even the location VENTILATION fans in the back.

I hear from the front the front of the case.  The power supply is located on top of the CPU fan and hoovers to the top of the hot air and sends it to the back of the case.   This is the norm for almost all Dell I can think.  There are fans of aspiration to the front of the case and video cards and blow hot air from the PSU to the rear.

  • Fan power SUPPLY XPS 8700 block

I have an 8700 XPS which is now two weeks old.  The Tower began to make some strange electric tone and/or the sounds of gnashing especially at the start.  I removed the side cover and the noise is coming from the PSU.  Sometimes the power supply fan is running at very low REGIME and squeaks.  Other times at the start of the power supply fan turns at all and there is a strange electronic tone coming from the PSU.  If I move the blades of the fan with a plastic straw, the fan will run upward and tone noise subsides.  Faulty PSU?  The unit is under warranty, but having a Dell technician will come out can be a problem with my work schedule.  Reference Dell will send me a new power supply?  I don't mind reverse out and return the defective power supply.  Thanks for your help.

As I suspected, the BIOS update does not solve the problem of power supply fan. But if the flash update had bricked motherboard, Dell should replace it as well as the power supply under the warranty.

Dell computers may vary only the CPU fan speed based on heat, not their fan PSU OEM.

Hope that the new power supply solved the problem and you can continue to enjoy your new toy.

Post back and let us know what happens after replacing the power supply...

  • Dimension E510: Power supply, video cards and fans...

    Howdy Dell Community!

About 2 years ago I bought a Dell Dimension E510 desktop to game and machinima. It has served me pretty well until about a week ago lightning hit a tree outside my window while I tried to shut down my system. The storm came pretty quick and I didn't know that it was there only a rumble of Thunder, so I started to stop, but it was too late: smileysad:. The motherboard was virtually unusable. I took it to a local computer repair shop and the machine lights up and works just fine except for the card NETWORK does not work on the map AND if you did a RAM test that it would fail, but not one stick of RAM could be found with a problem. They ordered a replacement for my Dell motherboard.

So I was thinking the other day, 'now would be a great time to make updates!". I put a 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HARD drive to replace the old 80 GB Hitachi. I also thought to improve cooling, the power supply and the video card. I have a lot of questions so here Let's go!

    (1) can I replace the fan inside the shrowd of cpu with a spare fan fan, and if so what are the dimensions of the fan?

    (2) can / should I strap in a 80 mm fan / 120 mm at the rear of the case to increase the flow of air from the case?

    (3) I heard that put a spare PSU is FRY your motherboard. I don't want that, but Dell doesn't provide upgrades of power supply (isn't that Nice of them?). A power PC Power & Cooling 500W Dell will work with the motherboard and the case?

    (4) after installing a new power supply, something like an ATI Radeon HD 3870 would work well? (compatibility with the motherboard)

    (5) I read something about being owner or something in this sense (like my e510) Dell systems. What is c?

Well, that's all for now. I hope that there will can help me!
    Thanks for your time.

  • Video card and power supply upgrade - XPS 8700 (mid-2013)

    Hello

I was considering upgrading my video card in my 8700 XPS to an AMD R9 270 to an AMD R9 290.

I was wondering weather the power would be able to take it.

It's a 460W power supply which I don't think will be able to manage an AMD R9 290 so I was also wondering if he could not do, where can I get a more powerful power supply? I know where to buy a lot, but I don't know if Dell, you have specific feeds of size to fit the case.

Is it OK to buy a market after we'll tell power 650W from any manufacturer or should I buy a specific for the case.

    Thank you.

At the very least, get a 750w power supply. This one has been reported to adapt.

  • Speakers JBL Xtreme works no not with MBP mid-2010. Any advise?

Everyone knows the same problem? All solutions?

I like sound from the loudspeaker (when it works).

Please, any advice or information would be useful.

    = The ISSUE =.

    Question:

My JBL Xtreme temporarily (several times a day) stops playing all the sounds of my MPB mid-2010. Requires to completely restart the Xtreme to resume playback.

    Question is this:

    (1) once the Mac will several minutes without reading sounds.

(for example, problem will NOT happen 'in the middle' of a video or a song, or between several consecutive videos).

    (2) into two entities (a purchased in 12/03/2015, then replaced by the new JBL 07/05/2016 customer service unit).

    (3) using the two separate cables headphone (2' and 6').

    Issue disappeared:

    (1) temporarily when full restart JBL Extreme (question returns a few hours or minutes later); A full restart of Mac does NOT help.

    (2) when you disconnect from the JBL speaker and plug into speakers of simple (not firmware) separate non - JBL, these speakers JBL - no play the sounds as expected. Thus, Mac 'seems' to send the correct signals via its headphone port.

    Video to reproduce the problem:

    https://Vimeo.com/165709269

    JBL customer service response:

    (1) ' we have not all the comments of any bug or any update would be necessary for the Xtreme. " For now, I would recommend that you contact support for your Mac. »

But the Mac works well with the JBL - no speakers. So, I think, the Mac is OK. But don't know if its signals is compatible with the firmware on the JBL speakers.

    2) "the speaker goes into sleep mode to save battery".

But the Xtreme is plugged into the wall power (all 5 white lights are always one of them flashing). So, save the battery life is not a problem.

It is OK to go to sleep. But it should not require a full reboot to wake up.

For example, while surfing the web I find and read a video, minutes later I find another video and need to restart the JBL to read.

As it is, I'm turning it back on about 10 times a day.

Each time, the Xtreme gives a) unpleasant 'surprise' unpredictable doesn't have to read the sound, b) chime sounds to feed top down and c) not long.

This isn't a normal acceptable behavior.

    Possible causes:

I think that, perhaps, JBL Xtreme would have some power save mechanism, so pregnant properly go to sleep (when he gets is not sound signals of Mac for a few minutes). However, when CV, sound signals, JBL Xtreme fails to wake on his own (because some bug in the JBL firmware). Thus, it requires a full restart.

The question is perhaps only with tones of mid-2010 Mbps?

Any other cause could explain the symptoms?

    Set up:

    (1) JBL Xtreme is connected to the Mac using telephone head, connected to the power supply plug, the latest version of the firmware 5.8.

    (2) mac Book Pro mid-2010 is running latest OS X (ElCapitan 10.11.4).

    (3) other devices in the House (5 s to iPhone and iPad) have Blue tooth OFF.

    =====================================

Update: a workaround is to connect through Bluetooth instead of the headphone cable.

  • Change of power supply for the Alienware Aurora r4

Hello, since my diet is reel whining I would change it

I was looking for a bit of the PSU and found this one

    http://www.EVGA.com/products/product.aspx?PN=210-GQ-0850-v1

is it good?, fit into the section of PSU aurora r4? It will connect to the back plastic, that normal power supply is connected to the rear?

Also I don't know anything about sata cables, but there so much that normal power supply I mean it will be able to connect to what it is now? (only the change requiring more sata is the addition of two extra hdd/ssd (there was a spare sata cables))

and... I need something more than that? (some wires or something?

I have not wand to buy the same PSU again because seeing how it survived...

Hello. I will address this, knowing that other users information. Your old harness case will be removed, the new chassis will have its own cables. The EVGA 850 GQ is ok, but the G2 is better, you can find them on Newegg / eBay / EVGA.com etc.

I posted here, p4 #31, a list of links to swap & material, then go ahead, some links redirect here, like this:

No - ALX a front SATA, so work of any type of SATA cable

    Chassis rear a SATA ALX

who need some type of head SATA short height, like the originals

    • ALX not can use either type, due before access
    • ALX must use 'pass-thru' heads, like the originals, if the power is connected to the wall box

EVGA uses these types of base with non - ALX SATA heads

    "standard heads.

above, my Corsair cable has ALX-type amp heads:

    • the plastic is a two-piece, the rear insulation snaps off the coast
    • in an ALX installation, with the cable above, I would jump off the top, cut the wire to length, & apply two heads on it to mimic the original as close as possible

If I had the EVGA SATA type?, I want to buy x 4 amp heads online:

Note the two types of rear covers: "cap" (for superior insulation) & pass-thru-cap

I would use these to "build" my own pair of cables to match the original cable pair, best I could. I could just shop any spare cable to amp heads, like here. My ALX has a set of hand-made cable, I already have the SATA cable mod, so they mimic the original case harness. Chassis no - ALX may not be no need for this type of care

  • Replace the power supply in a Studio Slim s 540

Hi, I bought a 540 s Slim of Studio in November 2009 and now I've decided I want to make games a bit. However, it runs a little hot, and there is not enough energy for a new card. I think I have a power supply that is 300w.

I was watching a GTX 460 or ATI 5850. The 5850 is probably too much for the case. So I thought to replace the case by something simple but effective. I like this:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16811119137&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&aid=10521304&PID=3136390&SID=

This case should be quite good, with the addition of a fan or two perhaps.

Now to my next problem. I keep everything in the Studio Slim to the stock, the Quad Core, 6 GB of ram, etc. The only thing that changes is the power supply and graphics card. However, I've heard Dell Mobos/PSU are owners and making it difficult to replace PSU. I have need around a block power 400w-500w. What is compatible with the dell motherboard chipset? Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Some of my features, if it helps:

    Motherboard: Dell 0M017G A00 P45/P43 chipset
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300
RAM: Twin 400 mhz (DRAM frequency) 6 GB DDR2 memory
HARD drive: Western Digital 7200 RPM 32 MB Caviar Black

PSU: bed 10A 125v so I think that its to 300w?

    deuce985

The Studio 540 Slim has a 250w power supply.

The power supply is a standard ATX format, but due to the constraints of the 540 Slimline case, it is a unit of owner of Dell, due to its shape, size, and the wiring harness.

If the motherboard has been installed in a box ATX Mini/Mid Tower standard, more generic standard ATX power supplies can be associated, either a 24-pin or 20 + 4 pin main card mother power connector, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

Note: You need a diet with four SATA power connectors.

    Bev.
