Fax HP Officejet 4500 Desktop won't automatically receive incoming faxes

Recently bought a HP Officejet 4500 printer/fax/scanner desktop computer. I programmed the fax to answer / connect auto after 2 rings. It connects automatically, regardless of the number of rings. I have to be home when a fax is sent to me, in order to manually push the Green Start button to connect and receive. Any suggestions as to what I was wrong?

That would well enough to be a problem with the 4500, herself, the automatic response feature is very much part of the printer and it would have nothing to do with the computer sound attached to. Something unusual on your phone line (like having DSL service and connecting the 4500 to the telephone without a DSL line filter) which could help detect a ring? HAL

  • HP Officejet 4500 Desktop does not connect properly

I have a HP Officejet 4500 desktop computer.  I just finished with the CD that came with it.  I then put in the USB cord and he said: it is not connected.  Please help me.

I really did a lot of research here to the course of action to take following the easier to understand.  In Windows 7, the menu options start to activate the USB connection in a wireless is easy to find. In Windows 8, it is quite difficult to find.  If this does not work, you have more chance to uninstall and reinstall the printer if you don't have any options to scan.  Here is my suggestion:

    1. first of all, try to scan using the HP Solution Center.  You can have the printer icons two on the left side of the solution Center.  Ensure the right one is selected and you are trying to scan.  If this fails, record the error here for me please.

2 to get the Setup menu, press the Windows key and the letter R to get the run of pop up screen.

    3. type in programdata % and in this folder click Microsoft > Windows > Start Menu > programs > HP.  Here you see "Add a printer" or "set up wireless?  That's how you get to the second part of the installation at the prompt is displayed to add a wireless printer.

Again, if you do not see it or a hard time finding it, you can have to uninstall the printer and restart it to see if it brings more options installation.  If you care to have multiple copies of the same printer, you might see if you install full feature software and drivers (link is for Windows 8 64 bit en) without first uninstalling the printer will also implement the options you need to connect a wireless printer.  I hope this helps.  Check out all of my links for more information on this topic.

    Of course

Select the version of your operating system from the link below, and then devote the section driver and download the driver (if available), or follow the steps to stable the printer if the drivers for your operating system are not downloadable:

  • OfficeJet 4500 how to respond or receive a fax manually?

HP Officejet 4500, not want it normally auto-answer value is.

Is there a button or an easy way to tell him to answer the phone because it sounds, saying to answer the phone and receive a fax expected?

Through the menus to turn on automatically as long as the phone rings, and then remembering and going through menus again to turn off the automatic reply are a pain.

Connected computer is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit, but this should apply even if the computer is off.

    Thank you

    Rich

In response to a fax manually, simply hit the big green button on the front of the printer start when an incoming fax comes in.

If you receive faxes often enough but won't auto answer pick up your calls, so you can call your phone company and ask to get a 2nd number on the same line with a distinctive ring pattern.

In this way with auto answer on you can set your printer only pick up faxes with this particular type of ringtone and use this 2nd number as your fax number.

  • HP Officejet 4500 desktop: problem of scan for hardware

    Hello.

I'm having a problem with the Scanner on my device. It worked fine for years until recently. When I run a scan, the scan bar sounds like it is moved to about, as if she was facing too much friction on his way. The resulting quality of the scan is too rough. Here is an example:

I tried to reset and even reinstalling the driver, but it seems to be a hardware problem. My device is already passed it is guaranteed and I am entirely willing to open if necessary, because I have knowledge in electronics. What can we do?

    Hi @XtheHunter,

Welcome to the HP forums! Is a great way to engage, ask questions and find resolutions by working with specialists from the community of HP. I saw the post and understand that there are problems of scanning with the printer. I'll be more than happy to help you here.

First of all, you have diagnosed the problem perfectly that the scan feature does not work. Great job on this point. Kudos to you. It is always a privilege to work with customers technically very. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. We value your relationship with HP and want to better serve you.

First of all, it looks like a hardware problem with the printer. We will isolate the problem correctly.

Please make some copies directly from the printer without any communication to the computer.

Place the copy face down on the flat and press the copy button. If the copy is fine, then the question might be software related.

If there are problems with copy, then try to copy again with a set of different cartridges to further isolate the issue. They copy very well if we could solve the problems for software related issues.

I'll send you the steps to perform a semi full reset as a private message. Please look for the messages also. Sometimes it is useful to correct the situation.

If it does not correctly copy, then the printer must be repaired by contacting the HP support by phone. Link: http://hp.com/contacthp

Please try to copy from the charger bed and document scanner to further isolate the issue.

If the problem is with the document feeder, then you can still use the scanner flat and vice versa to work around the problem.

I will send you the links of service manuals for the printer that could be useful.

    Link 1: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4500-all-in-one-printer-series-g510/3919445/manuals

I hope this helps. I would like to know how this happens. I really hope that the problem is solved without hassle and the unit works very well. Please reach out for questions and I'll be there for you help.

Just to say thank youPlease click the ' Thumbs Up ' button to give a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help me. If it helps, Please mark this "accepted Solution" because it will help many other people with the same problem to get it resolved without hassle.

  • When you connect the USB cable on a HP Officejet 4500 desktop computer?

OK, you will understand that I am technically challenged. I look around the back of this thing and not been able to find a usb port. It takes a different usb port. This diagram in the manual is very cute, it does not show what is what. Some of us don't know a * beep * thing about computers but can follow the detailed instructions.

Is it possible that you can show what looks like this single cable or just go to the radio Shack, I hate this place.

You must have a printer like this USB cable.

  • my hp officejet 4500 printer was working now, it will not print?

I bought a hp officejet 4500 it was printing and receive faxes, now it does nothing?

Sometimes, for reasons unknown, the Printer Spooler service becomes invalid. To check which is the case, follow these steps:

    1. click on the Start Menu, click Run, type "services.msc".

    2. in the Services pane, click on "Alert" and scroll down until you see "print spooler".

    3. click on "Start service" or "Restart Service", as the case may be.

The print spooler must be enabled.

    Check if printing is enabled.

    Hope this helps

    Post back if necessary

  • Error HP Officejet 4500 wireless

Help, please.  We just bought a HP Officejet 4500 Wireless and continue to receive this error.  I have no idea what that means or how to fix it.  It should not be this hard... its about 2 seconds, far from be packed back to the top!  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    What model is the router?

Run a Test of wireless network at the front of the printer.  I'll test the radio automatic and the report.  It may have failed.

  • I have an Officejet 4500 printer all-in-one. I have problems with incoming faxes.

I have an officejet 4500 all-in-one printer.  I have problems with incoming faxes.  It starts to connect, but then prints a sheet indicating image Fax Send report is set to off.  How can I enable this so that I can receive faxes.  Thank you.

The "image on fax send report is set to off" is just for the image on the fax. This is will you won't fax. Check the connections.

You should have the telephone line from 1 LINE of fax directly to the WALL SOCKET.
You should have the phone plugged into the LINE 2 of the fax machine.

Access your fax on the printer settings.
    Go to the ADVANCED SETTINGS.
Enable error CORRECTION MODE (ECM) - OFF
    You turn Fax speed to-SLOW

After that, run your FAX TEST and see the results.

  • HP Officejet 4500: HP Officejet 4500 suddenly "not connected" and wants to "fax" while trying to print

After last version 10 of Windows set to update my HP Officejet 4500, which was working fine, now it is "not connected", says or wants to "fax"everything." Can not even uninstall printer to reinstall the drivers. Where should I start to fix this mess?

I managed to successfully uninstall printer with control panel and Device Manager. I then downloaded latest drivers from HP specifically say it's for Windows 10.     support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-Officejet-4500-All-in-One-Printer-Series---G5/3919445/model/3919446/drivers I installed and wonderful - printer working properly again. He does not think it is only a fax and print again normally computer. I think the drivers HP takes over again and did not allow 10 Windows run the show and confuse the printer and the computer more!

  • Send Fax from PC to HP Officejet 4500 all-in-One G510

When I print to fax printer HP Officejet 4500 G510g-m, no sending a Fax screen opens asking the fax information. It goes directly to the print queue and justs sits there saying print.  Fax works OK when sending the fax paper through the machine.

This is a new installation, using the option install everything on the HP site.

OK, I understand now.  I don't want to give the solution uninstall/reinstall typical as I guess you probably already tried.  If this isn't the case, it's maybe you need.  I have a few questions for you:
