• Use CS5 on MacBook Pro.  All of a sudden the 'Feather' effect does not work.  The normal options do not appear.  Must use "Esc" to continue to work on the project.

  Do you have two monitors in use at the same time? What you describe happens if the dialog box opens off the screen. You may need to reset your preferences. Use Cmd (Ctrl) - Opt (Alt) - shift on a restart of the AI.

• Edge feather effect

  For some reason, I can't get the edge feather effect to 'take' on my jpg I have on my calendar.  What would cause this effect does not 'take '.  I moved the slider to 100 and image/logo still has sharp edges.  When I have the resize, the white selection line is right on the edge of the logo, so it should soften there.  Any thoughts?

  You can try dragging the clip for the new question button so that the images is consistent with the size of the chart? After that, then add the sequence embedded to your current sequence and apply the Feather Edge effect.

• How to get rid of the feather effect degraded to an object, either plan or any object?

  I used the feather degraded to an object in a file, now even if I apply solid color chart on any other object, it takes the gradient feather, not the solid color, gradient not even normal, how to get rid of this effect?

  You must have defined the feather gradient with nothing selected. THA makes the default for all new. Then deselect everything, disconnected the pen and try to not do that again.

• Issues generated by InDesign CS2 PDF-feather effect/transparency

  I'm at my wit's end. I received a file of the customer PDF created to my features (even those we have used for 5 years). I'm having massive flattened transparency issues. I am currently using Trueflow version 3, a tear that does not support dynamic transparency; Therefore, distill my settings require that transparency will be flattened. There are some horrible results I can't fix on my end. He's prickly showing (and exit from the plate!) where she placed on certain pages .psd files. There is also a problem with feathered objects (associated pictures) - they look great in the document but then exported and flattened, there is a white box behind the photos rather than the soft look of feathers.

  When I exported its CS2 using Acrobat 5 file instead of 4, the effect is very good, but - my rip shot of it. When I export to my specs, the PDF's print these questions.

  Part of the problem may have to do with the flattening settings used by your customer of PDF creation, not the joboptions themselves. As a general rule, you should have parameters of vector flattening which are set to 100% and the resolution of your device. In addition, you should have your PDF export customers rather than go through the road of distillation of PostScript.

  In addition, even flattening of transparency has seen some significant improvements in the last few editions of InDesign and Acrobat. Remember that CS is InDesign 4. The current version is 6 InDesign (CS4).

  What I would recommend is that you have your client PDF export with transparency dynamic (i.e., PDF 1.5 or higher). You should then flatten the PDF yourself in Acrobat 9 Pro (not previous versions) with the appropriate parameters for your RIP since you know the resolution you are RIP. RIP the resulting PDF file.

  Good luck. And you should really start saving for a RIP update.

• Effects of HAVE it: pen against the Gaussian blur? who is raster or vector?

  I'm looking at feathers against the blur. in illustrator, effect of the menu drop down.

  what I have, I understand the Gaussian Blur/Blur in photoshop effects (in illustrator) will Pixelize the gradation from the edge, but the effect Illustrator 'feather, will keep this vector, is this correct?

  sample here they both look the same to me, and I noticed that the feather effect was Gaussian blur to the edge still to produce its result.

  from what I see I should be able to make one of these more bigger than a billboard and they would all be two smooth yet degraded being? or Blur Gaussian would cause pixelation unless I got the vector object correctly dimensioned in the document in the first place to fit the display panel.

  what I'm trying to ask is how they work,

  my view is it HAVE "feathers" will allow resizing of the form of the vector object to any size and not be pixelated in print.

  Feather starts at the edge of the object and goes inland.

  GBlur starts at the edge of the object and goes towards the inside and the outside.

  Pen will not increase the size (preview) of the original object.

  G - Blur will increase the size of the object (preview) of 50% of the value of the GBlur.

• Picky adjustment brush

  In camera RAW CC, (and I had this happens in CS6), I'm sure that I pressed the wrong button somewhere, and now my brush is being "selective" about what areas it affects. I want to go back to simply affecting the area (with feather effect) normally. Know the solution to this?

  This isn't a "stupid bug.  You have the box "Auto mask" checked, which tells the adjustment brush to do exactly that (to limit the effect of the colors similar to the box in the center of the brush).

  Clear this check box.

• Gradient Feather is change the colors to export.

  Here's the scenario: I have a background image (in this case, just a jpg white rectangle as a link) with a gradient feather marine, covered on top, created in InDesign. After the export as a PNG, it turns into a strange shade of purple (see below).

  Any ideas of what could be the cause? I started to incorporate more feathers in gradients in our work, but it just left me speechless and frustrated. Many thanks in advance.

  

  

  You have a double transparency is that the PNG exporter does not like. So instead of applying a 75% overall transparency in the effect controls panel, set the 75% left in the gradient dialog box.

  

• Effect of cropping - Image bleeding by mask with feathers?

  I am applying a form customized with the cropping effect mask. I've attached a picture showing the issue. The edge of the cropped image is bleeding in the mask as a result of the addition of a feather mask. I encountered this problem in several projects for the past few weeks. Anyone have any suggestions!

  Better is not not to use the mask with the cropping effect, but rather of opacity mask.

  I would use two linear effects to wipe with keyframes. Easy as... and lots of feather angle and edge control.

  Applies to the matte black to the layer above the video layer (which has the window on this already)

  Probably can work with a layer of black Matt, but two would be easier.

  First of all, it is easier in After Effects. That said...

  Possible? Yes. The use of masks.

  Create masks? This can be difficult.

  If the person stands out from the background in a way that you can create a mask based on a combination of the cache of transparency and the luminance values, you might be able to use the levels to create a forground black and white background or vice versa. Then use it as matte.

  But it's not easy, and most video is not out in a way that will work for you.

  Most of the people like rotoscoping the person away from the background, image by image. A very time consuming process.

  Depending on what you really want to do, you may be able to apply a collection of masks and feather them so that they cover the person enough in General, covering about.

  I would like to know how to use the slider to scrub/advance the timeline, just like in "Two Birds of a reactive Feather" found under the Page showcase of Adobe Edge animate, found here:

  Notice that the clouds move with the cursor and that birds are not affected, this is the effect I want to achieve.

  I'm fairly new edge lead and I don't know that it's just a simple fix.
