You can configure the advanced layout SysLog.Local.Datastorepath is a point for a data store and ESXi will store a copy of the var in this location.  For a new installation by default ESXi 4.1 this parameter to/scratch/log/messages if you using ESXi Installable and the installation disk was 5 GB or more.  For previous versions ESXi or Embedded, you must manually set the variable.

This error can occur if there are problems of system files on the drive selected for the backup file location. Have you tried to save the backup to a drive or another location? Please try the following to fix the disc

  • create custom when installing ESXi 5.5 partitions

    Hello

How to create custom when installing ESXi 5.5 partitions?

I wish I had the rest of the partitions:

    # df h

Size of filesystem used Avail use % mounted on

    / dev/sde1 9.7 G 1.5 G 7.7 G 16%.

    / dev/sdc1 1.1 G 99 M 928 M 10% / Boot

    / dev/sde6 4.9 G 138 M 4.5 G 3% / Home

    / dev/sde7 4.9 G 182 M 4.4 G 4% / opt

    / dev/sde8 2% 36 M 1.8 G 2.0 G/tmp

    / dev/sde5 39G 5.3 G / 32G 15% var

Specifying the size of the partition was something that was done with the classic ESX 3.x or 4.x. With ESXi (installable) there is neither the need nor the ability to define individual partition sizes.

  • When creating mail in Windows Mail by using the Contacts file.

Creating e-mail in Windows Mail I can not access my Contacts folder.  Any reason why it is just stopped working?  Thank you.

    To all,

I found my own solution and think it can benefit everyone on this thread and others who have access to this thread.

When creating Mail in Windows Mail, I used to be able to click on to or CC contact icon and be presented with the same entries in my file of Contacts.  All of a sudden, I got a list of contacts "Empty" in the contacts to or CC box.

To fix this, I closed the function create a message.  I opened my Contacts folder where all my contacts were intact.  I selected all the contacts.  Then right click selections shaded and chose properties.  On the general tab, I did so that the attributes were the unchecked Hidden attribute selected apply and then OK.

Who did it!  Now I can go to create a message, select the to or CC and present people with equivalent display my Contacts folder icon.  Now, I can click on the recipients and complete the line receiver with my selection!

I had a problem recently with having lost all my favorites in IE 9.  It was suggested to me via the IE community to ensure that all my contacts have unchecked Hidden attributes.  That solved the problem of favorites so I tried here also.  The IE community attributed these abrupt changes were due to a virus.

Hope this helps all of you.

  • Can't access file system host (MAC) shared in VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Client when wanting to create a VMware image (Windows 7 in Parallels virtual machine running on a MAC) for the option of machine Powered On.

File HOST (Mac) system is currently shared in the Parallels virtual machine and is accessible through Windows Explorer and works correctly in the Virtual Machine environment, however, after installing vCenter Converter application on the Windows virtual machine these shared folders are not accessible from the conversion tool in the selection of the target destination of the file VMware (s). I can't select an existing folder on drive "C:" to write the image so that there is not enough space available for the VMware image and it must be written in a different file system, while the image is being created.

Anyone know a way around it to show the target to write the image on the host (MAC OS) file system or is it a bug?

Thanks for the reply.  It seems that the maps are not displayed if they were created as actions by the hosts.  When I created a mapping directly from Windows, then this mapping appeared and the conversion worked fine.

    Shirleen salvation,

You must give only until the directory path, does not include the file. Try Don 'C:\Infrastructure\UIResources\deploy' for the path of the directory, once the connection is created, you should be able to see the jar under the connection.

  • iSCSI freeNAS failing to create the file system

    Hey guys,.

IM pretty new to the present and iv tried to work this point for some time now...

I got a box of freenas with an array of 5 TB in it... I would like to make a 1 TB logical unit number and mount it on my ESXi 4 server.

    my configuration is:

    FreeNAS < = 10.10.10.1 = > 2x1GB links using the FEC (Fast or channel) [10.10.10.0/24] < = 10.10.10.2 = > ESXi

I managed to configure the FreeNAS successfully [as far as I can tell...], when I add the target to the iSCSI software storage card it finds the logic unit number and everything seems good.

the problem starts when I try to add as a data store... I select:

Disk/LUN > freeNas LUN > leave default primary partition > give it a simple name > chose the minimum file size of 512 GB > finish

and I get the following error...

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore" of object "ha-datastoresystem" on ESXi '192.168.2.202' failed.

Operation failed, the diagnostic report: unable to create the file system, please see VMkernel connect you for more details.

  • ESXi6: error of storage when starting a Windows 7 image / deltadisks full file system

    Hi all

I use an ESXi 6.0 with the latest patch on a HP ProLiant Microserver. Everything works perfectly except one Image of Windows 7 I have migrated from Microsoft Hyper-V.

I had first consolidated the files on the disc in a single Image complete and then converted into a hard using WinImage.

Now when I start the Image, Windows 7 does not start (starting Windows...) but then I get the error:

    Message der virtuellen Maschine

    Procedure der für die Datei ' / vmfs/devices/deltadisks/4 c 5... W7EN - s001.vmdk' fehgeschlagen ist (14 (wrong address)). DAS Dateisystem, dem sich die Fliegengitter ' / vmfs/devices/deltadisks/4 c 5... W7EN - s001.vmdk' is, ist voll. Wahlen Sie 'button.retry', um den procedure

zu repeat. Wahlen Sie "button.abort", um die Sitzung zu

The mentioned file exists, and the file system is obviously not complete. The error indicates filesystem, VMFS/devices/deltadisks/was full, but there are > 600 GB free.

Any ideas what is happening here? What are these deltadisks?

Please attach the file "W7EN.vmdk" - which contains the format of the virtual disk - to a response message.

I think that we must do, is to use VMware Converter to convert the previously (with Winimage) converted to disk to ESXi like target. This will convert the spars (... s001.vmdk) disc format to support. If you have only the hard files, you can temporarily create a VMware Workstation (or reader) VM with the converted virtual disk attached and use it as a source for the converter.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2298nr: when HP Recovery is not available... the system using Windows 8 as image backup?

I would like to start with a big shout out to Paul T for his VERY useful thread here!

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/Windows-8-product-key-for-pavil...

Family of a friend asked me to work on their laptop, because I know more about computers they do... they are people very well, was happy to help out, but true to form, like many PC users, they did not bother keeping the documentation provided with the laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2298nr), or they bother to burn recovery using HP DVD built in recovery software which is comes standard on laptops... If I am interpreting what HP's Web Site had to say about the laptop model HP Pavilion g6-2298nr, correctly, she is the serial number it is no longer eligible for free technical support and I have to pay a fee just to talk to someone and to order recovery of the HP DVD (family friend bought in Dec 2014 so it seems REALLY odd that I wouldn't be able to just order) DVD recovery without having to pay tech support a tax just to ask to order the recovery DVD!  .. But anyway...) ...

Where was the product key "integrated" in the BIOS really comes in handy!   I crossed my fingers, used the method mentioned in the thread linked above, and it worked!   ... have to admit it was a bit strange at first, do not use the product key sticker like the old days, but I can see how it works better in the long term - helps prevent piracy, you don't have to worry if someone who do not realize the importance of product keys thumbnail it takes off and he throws...

Unfortunately, it seems that when you reinstall Windows in this way, you lose the HP Backup and Recovery program ... in this case my friend family had the misfortune to pay someone to repair this laptop which has not bothered to tell them "Hey, I replaced the hard drive that goes wrong but if you don't get a laptop cooler for this sucker to the laptop just going to overheat again." ... of course, the money they paid what we call 'tech technician' who went down draining when the laptop fried a second drive hard, or maybe the tech them faced with a bad hard drive, who knows? (technology bought a hard drive OEM off ebay)...

... Sorry to sound harsh about this type of technology, I must confess I only worked in the field of PC repair for a few months more than a decade before letting him make a stay-at-home-dad (wife is a pharmacist so I'm lucky enough to be able to stay at home) so my experience is VERY limited compared to other people... but the back then I have always treated my customers the way I would treat a friend , and if it's a friend of you offer advice on the prevention of such problems in the future... this laptop gets HOT like you wouldn't, I seated him on a very reliable laptop cooler (slab thickness of aluminium which does a great job as a radiator with the fans, this one)

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16834953038

"(and I left my friend's family know in no uncertain terms that they need to order this laptop cooler if they use this laptop...).

Replace hard drive, I installed seems to work very well, but of course it is not an "official WD hard drive"... when I tried to install the software of cyberdirector photolink for example on the link below, received an error message "this is not a WD hard drive so cannot install this software"...

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-G6-2200-notebook-PC-series/5296082/model...

that is fine I really don't think my friend family cares about this program... but it makes me wonder, even if I did trust the download at this link below

    http://www.TechSpot.com/downloads/5190-HP-backup-and-Recovery-Manager.html

If program HP Backup and Recovery manager would work even first because it is not an official hard drive WD (I also ordered a hard drive OEM off ebay .. but does not support the family of my friend for the drive hard because they were good for my munchkins and did not want to pay through the nose for a more expensive hard drive so of course I tried to minimize my own...)... I also think the type of program is based on a "C" and "D" drive is set up as if it were when the laptop comes with the original hard drive and saves a copy of the backup on the disk "D"... I guess I could use disk management to create a different partition, label it "D" and see if HP Backup and Recovery work, but it seems a bit... questionable... not to mention that I feel uncomfortable to download something that is not directly on the HP Web site as an "official"... download

I know that Windows 8 has a utility of 'image system' built-in that allows you to do exactly that... an image of the system... as I said my friend family is good people, but I'm guessing that sooner or later they're going to screw up this laptop by pulling again as do many users of the computer... it would be nice if I could burn a system image of what is on the laptop now on DVD and hang on, then when they come back to me screaming in the future ' help, laptop does not work yet! I can just restore the system image on DVD instead of having to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows, graphics/audio/drivers etc., zillion Windows updates and an etc. all over again.

What I was asking, that is... would this even work?    I have never tried to use the image of the system in a situation like this with the product being key ' built in ' BIOS, this kind of thing is brand new to... worth me burning the DVDs and hung their just in case where?

Sorry for the long essay and thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to read all this!

    Hello:

Yes, which makes a system image will work.  I do it all the time.

PC GE set up the way you want and make the image of the system and the usb drive recovery you'll need access to the system image, or you can use W8 OEM disk made you (via the menu to repair your computer at the bottom left of the screen install Windows when you start from the DVD) to boot from, and access to the system image.

If you have the DVD you have to more than one.  Probably not less than 4.

But as much as to try to submeter a recovery partition, which is not going to work.

I am very surprised that you cannot order a set of recovery discs HP online at the link below, last line labeled order recovery media.  Some people have reported trying to enter information such as the serial number and the link is dead.  But nothing venture nothing have nothing.

If this does not work, you can have your friends order a set of this provider no HP...

  • Current file to use when it is disconnected from the network wireless/wired - shared network drive

    Hello

We have a problem where we receive a "file in use" message when you are disconnected from the network. To reproduce the problem, what we do is:

    (1) connect to the wired network wireless disabled with

    (2) create a test document

    (3) to enter text and save on network share

    (4) remove the network cable

    (5) add additional text

    (6) reconnect the network cable

    (7) try to save the file to the network share

At the beginning by clicking the X is the new message you want to save. Click Yes and the message arrives until the next time you hit the Hit of X no. and he loses the last change.

From here we then go up to the network share, open the file and it comes up with "file in use. Open read-only. File is opened by us (Administrator account), and there is NO temporary file in the shared folder.

    Tried so far:

-Run net config server/autodisconnect:-1 for trying to stop it disconnect the share

-Checked pane, pane preview and off 'display the description of the pop-up window for folder and desktop items '.

    -Windows Update

We try to reproduce on wired connection, because it is easier to reproduce that disconnects wireless. Seems to have an impact on several operating systems. Share folder is shared on a Windows 2008 R2 x 64 machine.

Is this a known problem or is there something that we can configure to try to prevent the locking file after logging out? Ideally, we want the decline to go unnoticed and provide uninterrupted service to the user, unless they are trying to save during the fall.

Thanks in advance for comments :)
