Filed on a backup DVD

I have Windows XP.  How to make a manual backup on a DVD?  Because I don't have MS One Care, I can't figure out how to back up my files.

The default that NTBackup backup on floppy disk, it can not save on dvd

The backup to a location of hd, then upgrade again fire on a backup dvd, or use a dedicated backup application which most can save at various locations.

  • Number of backup DVD 8 (13) has no data

    Hello

My laptop HP Pavilion G61 crashed on the weekend. I used HP Recovery Manager and supported all the files on 13 DVDs. I have restored the laptop to the factory specifications. Started to reload the DVDs, number 1 to 7 went in no problem, but number 8 keeps having injected and then be prompted to load the number of DVD 8. Looks like that 8 DVD contains no data. How can I get around #8 and always load DVD 9 to 13?

    Thank you.

    Hello Jovette.

I understand you have questions complete restoration of your data backup DVD. specifically it crashes on 8 DVD and never acknowledges, is that correct?

If the PC does not recognize the disc, you're likely right, 8 disc has no data or is damaged (for example a bad DVD). There is no way to pass a certain DVD, unfortunately. However, if you insert a disc in the drive and then go to the computer and open the DVD from there, can view you the individual files you have backed up? If so you can copy them manually.

I see another thing for you to try. The reader may have issues reading the disc because it is scratched or dirty. Even a small amount of oil from your fingers or a small scratch can lead to problems of reading the disc. Then, check the box of the drive. Is it scratched or dirty at all? If she has even the smallest scratch or damage that I suggest you take it to a local store that can shine the disc for you in the hope that it will allow the laptop to read.

  • Backup DVD of Windows 8

I downloaded and installed Windows 8 without selecting the option to backup DVDs. Do I really need DVD backup when re - install or change the computer? I could do a backup later? Can I install my purchased Windows 8 on other computers. and how much? Thank you.

    How to reinstall Windows 8

    You have two options:

If you want to reinstall Windows 8, which means remove applications and personal files and settings, you can use the reset and refresh. This is equivalent to a clean install.

To do this, follow these steps:

    · Press the Windows key + i on your keyboard to show the charms (if you use a touch screen: touch the right edge of your screen and drag your finger to the left)

    · Click settings

    · Click change PC settings

    · Click general in the left column

    · In virtue remove all and reinstall Windows, click Start

Then follow instructions that will be provided on the screen to reinstall Windows on your PC.

    Option 2:

If you create an installation DVD or a USB bootable, you can use them to reinstall Windows. First, you will need to reinstall license qualification, then begin the upgrade to Windows 8. License of qualification means that you will need to reinstall Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7.

    Option 3:

A workaround for this situation is to create a system image of Windows 8, just after you have upgraded. So if your drive plant, you can simply restore the image on a new hard drive or restore the image on the same drive, if you want to reinstall Windos 8.

See the following for instructions on how to create an image of the installation process of Windows 8:

  • I can't backup DVD for Windows Vista operating system due to the error of 0x8007001B

I can't finish a DVD upward on my Windows Vista operating system.  This is due to an 0x8007001B error code.  I was unable to complete the fix to services.msu

    Hi mine,

This isn't a question of MSE - there is a problem with Vista or your computer or your software backup or your DVD player or its drivers or something else. We are not the right people to answer your question and give you the best possible options and solutions - you have to talk to the experts.

Please repost at: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-system?page=1&tab=all&tm=1304884961900 where specialists who understand and focus to help with these issues will be more than happy to help you.

Although not my area of expertise (and you're welcome to ignore it and just after to the other forum), I did do research in any case and believe that the problem involves the corruption on your hard drive (although I could certainly be wrong - it is more likely to be the case if the full error message includes "drive cannot find sector requested" but you don't get the full error message, so I don't know). To try to fix it, if that is the problem, follow these steps:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run. They tried to set itself to run at the next reboot. Answer Yes and restart to run the program. It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.

If this does not work, test better clean your hard drive. To test your hard drive, check the manufacturer and try to diagnosis HD (http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html) or this test: hard drive diagnostics tools and utilities (storage) - Corp of TACKtech (http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287). If it passes the tests, there's probably nothing wrong with it and you must do to the other support forum. If it fails, which include in your post on the other forum and let them advise you how to proceed.

I hope that the above solves the problem. If this isn't the case, I am confident, they can help you in the other forum, because that's what they specialize in. It would help if you posted the message Word for Word that is accurate and complete, including all codes. In addition, it would help them if you explain the difficulty you mention services involving (a link to the site where you found the solution or at least what exactly you did and what has happened or not happened when you tried). And if you've tried my suggestions above, include the results in your message (so they don't ask you to do it again and will be able to exclude).

    Good luck and best wishes!

You woud be better to create usb recovery media.

The usb recovery media is durable and provides faster recovery rates that the DVD version is capable of. DVD media recovery takes 2 + hours to complete! Recovery using a USB stick recovery takes less than an hour to complete.

An only scratch on the label side of a DVD of the recovery and the recovery dvd set is useless.

To the following ADDRESS, there are video tutorials that show the details involved for the creation of a USB or DVD recovery media.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-stream-13-notebook-PC/7372147/model/7539081/document/c03481733/

You are allowed to make a copy of the recovery media.  Choose well. You may need a 32 GB USB to create usb recovery media. The price for usb flashdrives fell down there where she is not much more the amount of DVD recordable media. Don't use Sandisk flashdrives. they are known to not be is not compatible with the recovery media creation utility.

I don't have a solution to your problem of file using DVD backup.

I just want to make a suggestion...

Abandon the DVD method. It's stone age, and several times he does not. I know, I have here.

Please, invest in an external hard drive and backup with it.

It will secure you all the aggravation of the use of DVDs.

You won't have to sit by the computer, feeding beside with dvd, whenever he asked one.

You can simply walk, watch TV, read a book, etc. and let the computer and the ext.hhd are doing their job.

According to the country of whichn you are, an ext.hard of 1 TB drive can be had for less than $150 in the United States and the Canada.

  • Is the DVD of backup Windows 8 identical to a full installation disc.

I have investigated. I'm not entirely sure about this, but when window 8 went through its first users, I bought Windows 8 but also ordered the backup DVD. Now I have a question, do the count of Windows 8 Backup DVD as DVD of complete Installation? Yes, it's the complete installation, of course, if this is the upgrade license, you must have a qualifying version of Windows installed (XP, Vista, Windows 7, or even Windows 8 to use).

  • storage of files on DVD size

Does anyone know of a program or application that:

Can watch a directory with many files, and

automatically select the appropriate files according to the available space on a backup DVD?

I take a lot of videos and upward with many files. I want to burn these files on DVD to keep a backup. I also want to optimize space accepting these backups on a DVD, for example want to be as close to 4.7 G as possible to not waste space.

The program I am considering is the directory of files to back up, and then selects a number of files that together make up 4.7 G (or as close as possible) without having to make the selection myself which is prone to error and delays.

    Any help appreciated.

I'm not aware of any applications that do this.

Roxio Toast is a flexible tool for engraving, and you can choose the amount of video you want to put in your backup on the fly.  Assuming that you are dealing with a data DVD, add enough videos to equal to about 4.3 G and burn.

  • Re: Request for help with Tecra A10-156 (Vista backup media)

    Dear members of the Forum

I am the owner of a laptop Toshiba Tecra A10-156. As the owners of this model will be aware, the machine is supplied with Windows Vista pre-installed. Also supplied is a recovery of Windows XP Professional disc, which, once loaded on the machine, remove everything on the hard drive, including the operating system Vista and the Vista hard disk recovery partition.

The documentation that comes with the laptop warns the user if he wants to take the Windows XP program on the computer, it must burn a DVD of backup software vista before you load the XP image because if it loads Windows XP without doing that then he loses everything to do with VISTA on the machine.
Unfortunately, when I bought my machine, I did exactly this error and load Windows XP without backup Vista Software. Load the XP dvd, hard drive was completely wiped out, including not only the Windows Vista installation, but also the recovery partition.

Although windows XP is a good operating system, I would like the ability to restore my machine to the factory setting. When I asked what to do with Toshiba, they said that the only way they could help would be to sell me a backup DVD of Vista recovery which would cost me a little money. (more than thirty books).
They also mentioned that if I could find another owner of A10 - 156 using vista would be ready, they could burn a DVD using their recovery from vista machine and then I would be able to use this DVD to do the job.

As I know personally of all other owners Tecra A10, I am writing to make a plea to ask if some A10-156 (it takes as the exact model) owner would please that nature to let me have a copy of VISTA backup medium please. Of course, I'd be more than willing to pay a total amount of the Virgin DVD (s) and shipping costs.
If someone is willing or able to help should I very grateful indeed and hope to hear from a fellow A10-156 owner as soon as possible.

    Yours sincerely
    Ian in the United Kingdom

I hope someone here can help and maybe you should put your e-mail address for direct contact.
