  Hello

  I am completely new to LR and somehow lost in its functionality. I scanned a series of negatives using a CoolScan 5000 and trying to optimize the pictures a little more. Specifically, I'm playing around with filters for color correction.

  My problem is that all the photos that I have scanned have an area of setting in which the image is more ore less completely black or white. And this leads to effects with filters as you can see in the part of the attached image.

  Is it possible to make LR filters ignore the outer part of the image for caculating filters?

  The blue color is a warning to cut off shadows.

  Press J on the keyboard to turn it off, or click on the top of the triangle to the left of the histogram.

  The caveat for clipped highlights is displayed in red. (top right of the histogram)

• Structure of data base for a side 5 star system

  This is something that I was invited to focus on the creation. At the present time, the site has a back-end database storage details of hundreds of vacation properties. If this part is already implemented.

  So I'm quite familiar with databases etc., but less for formulas and additional data structure for any vote.

  It would be quite simple, that is, visitors could vote 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars for any property.

  To do a score total saved somewhere for each property.

  And the site must display the average rating for this property.

• Manipulation of the gray stars

  If iTunes will assign ratings to my podcast episodes when I have NOT assigned a side (grey stars), why in the world can't the smart playlists include the ability to filter based on whether the star is grey or black?  Essentially, this change in iTunes which force ratings on not assessed points has destroyed my ability to filter my list of how I want to.  Now, I have to give a star rating to each episode black to replace iTunes grey star ratings assigns or lose my ability to filter.  I can't remove the side grey-star without resetting all the sides black stars for all of the podcasts, which also destroyed my filtering system.  I wish they would return to their previous method do not have iTunes give anything without my permission.

  Here are four scripts that can erase or reset album and follow the automatic classification. Each of them works on the current selection of songs in iTunes. The first two work by assigning a manual note of 1%, which shows as no stars and should work fine with your smart playlists. The second pair to restore the default behavior. • Lost coast to stars.

  I loaded several series of images in Lightroom in recent weeks, star appreciation and treated high the page files in JPEG format for the download of my SmugMug account... who for years.  Just noticed that several rounds of last week lost their side to star... No change to the process.  The games this week and three weeks ago are fine.  What to do?

  (1) how the coast to stars to disappear?

  A possibility, in grid mode, enter a 0 (zero) will remove any number of stars of an image of the selection, and if several or all the images have been selected when the 0 value has been entered, stars would be removed from all selected images.

  (2) possible solution?

  Depending on how often you back up the catalog, you can be able to go back to a time before the stars disappeared by opening a catalog earlier about your backups.

  No certainty, but a good guess.

• Why my side song erased and playlists were emptied on iTunes?

  I'm looking for a possible explanation as to why this particular thing happened if it does not happen in the future. I tried to cover all the details that I thought was appropriate where a person can say exactly what happened.

  First of all, I have a modest library of 3500 songs on my iTunes I keep pretty organized with playlists and rating stars, and I'm trying to store all my data locally (ie. not on the cloud). I synchronize my entire library to my iPhone, so basically I'm trying to keep my iTunes and iPhone music library identical library and have all my music physically downloaded to my phone (music so only available offline). I don't use iCloud music library and hold.

  I use Apple music on my phone, however, to discover new music. I had it on automatic renewal for a couple of months but let my membership lapse one maybe a more than a week ago - ergo, I didn't not Apple music for several days.

  I decided to take out a few days ago and everything was good. I had synced my phone since my subscription expired because I had not added to any music, until yesterday when I bought some singles on iTunes I want to synchronize my phone. However, they would not sync with my phone after 2 or 3 attempts, then I looked around my phone settings and noticed that iCloud music library was running. I'm sure that when I re-subscribed to Apple's music, it turns out iCloud music library somehow.

  Then I disabled iCloud music library, and then I tried to sync again. Only this time, a majority of my music bought were not sync to my phone. Any other synchronized through music. The only way to access my music bought on my phone was to "show all music" and I guess that flows to my phone. Some of them would stream and I had the opportunity to 'download to the phone' but most of them wouldn't even either, they would simply appear in my library of phone but unable to play. Still the same after sync 2 times more.

  I deleted all the music on my phone through my phone settings and then synchronized with the sync option is not all music on iTunes and for some reason that still synchronize a purchased song. I deleted manually, this song changed to 'synchronize all music' on iTunes re - transfer my entire library to my phone, but it still refuses to transfer nearly all of my purchased music. And on top of that, I noticed all but 40 of 3500 ~ songs had their side to star cleared on iTunes, the end of the synchronization.

  One last shot to try to get my music on my phone, I deleted all the music again once, backed up my phone, it completely, restore the backup and finally sync all reset.

  Finally, I clicked on one of my playlists and noticed it was empty. I checked the rest, and all my manual playlists were empty. Only filled have been my smart playlists, relying on the date added and play counts.

  Basically, the entire structure of my entire library is ruined. I have no idea why or how it happened but I am sure iCloud music library was the beginning of it. I tried to restore temporary files without success, nor that any itunes library previous saved files help. I have a full September 2015 iTunes backup that has all until the preserved month, but I tore a lot of albums for Christmas and I don't want to lose the date added / play metadata count. I've temporarily restored the library September 2015 and screenshotted as much as I could, so I just have to manually recreate playlists and enter again in the ratings.

  It would be possible to edit the script I mentioned it to recover a portion of your lost data.

• 6 Lightroom doesn't recognize external metadata updates to JPG files

  I have a lot of JPG and RAW files in Lightroom 6. I recently started using 10 Photos On1 with Lightroom. The On1 browse application allows you to add/edit metadata such as ratings. And it's supposed to be faster for this task than Lightroom. So, I went back to rate photos in folders that had previously no side. Back in Lightroom, I synced the metadata from other applications. It worked for my photos in RAW. They all sides I have setin On1 Browse. But Lightroom did not recognize external updates to JPG files. Is this a bug in Lightroom? I find that this also discussed anywhere. Help, please.

  A couple of things to check.

  By default, I think that OnOne wrote NO metadata for an original, but a copy. The settings are in the prefs. So if you rate it's going, I think, write immediately to a sidecar XMP for a RAW, Lr see and import if requested.

  But JPEG files is not sidecars, and it will not write in the original JPEG, so there is no new metadata for Lr to read. You can force the metadata that you entered in OnOne in JPEG, IIRC, with an 'Embed metadata' command. Try this.

• Keyboard shortcut to filter by Star/labels?

  User of Aperture transition here. At the opening, I can set the filtering by pressing ctrl + [number]. For example, ctrl + 3 shows me only my images 3 stars and up. Is there no equivalent keyboard shortcuts in LR?

  As you can see from the full list of shortcuts provided Jitendra, there is no shortcut to the filtering of, say, 5 stars.  However, you can get faster access to the by typing "------" to open the library filter bar.  You can also set presets for filter for 1-star, 2 departures, etc.  But it's not a way to have a button call the filter you want.

• How can I see my ratings stars preview of bridge?

  I've just updated to Adobe Bridge CC and I always used it in conjunction with Camera Raw. The two work is no longer perfectly together. For example, I don't see my side to stars that I gave to the images, I was about to change. I also used to be able to right click on a preview and choose 'open with Adobe Camera Raw' and now the only way to do is to double-click on an image (but it also brings Photoshop to open, I don't want to happen every time.). I had to do a fresh install (after being on a chat with Adobe) on Camera Raw on my iMac and I can't even see the program anywhere file. Hoping someone can help me to reconnect these two programs?

  You use a MAC or a Windows computer.

  • Check what version of Camera raw in Photoshop and Bridge?

  Go to Photoshop > about Plugin > camera raw (MAC) help > about plugin > Camera raw (Windows)

  It should be the version 9.1.1 (latest)

  • Ensure that the startup scripts are enabled in the bridge.
  • Bridge to Reset preferences:-press and hold the CTRL, ALT, Shift (Windows) Command, Option, Shift (MAC) during the start-up of bridge and make check on reset preferences and purge the cache, and then click Ok

• Latest Version of Lightroom 5 (PC) - questions of library where Lightroom automatically selects photos - any help welcome!

  I use the latest version of Lightroom 5 on a PC.  I am having a very frustrating bug that appeared yesterday.  When you browse my catalog files in the view 'Library' Lightroom is randomly auto selection of images.  For example I have a folder for "Christmas with > 300 moroccoin 2014'.»  When I opened this file in library view and select picture 17, Lightroom will also choose image #28 for example.  If no picture is selected within 5 seconds to open the Lightroom default folder to select the images #1 and #2.  I find this frustrating, especially when the side/signage/keywording like Lightroom is adding random pictures in my selected those... kill me! Any thoughts?

  I am user of Lightroom since Version 1, so I think I'm pretty familiar with Lightroom.

  I use Lightroom 5.3, Mac PowerBook Pro.

  Since a view, I have a strange behavior that I have never experienced before.

  When in Mode preview (N), I would like to note the active image (the one highlighted with the white border around it).

  But instead of having him selected a nominal (allows to) say, 3 stars brand Lightroom I selected to see ALL images. The same thing with flags, colors, x.

• Star filter has stopped working

  I've always sorted my photos using the side to stars, but all of a sudden the filter stopped working properly.

  For example,.

  > = 4 stars works as expected

  > = 3 stars poster "no pictures not matching the filter.

  It affects my catalogue and is fundamental to my work flow.

  Someone else has had it and someone has any suggestions how to solve the problem? It seems to affect both my laptop and my desktop computer.

  RESOLVED - I optimized the catalog. I was invited as the catalog was corrupt.  I ran a repair and rating filter now works as expected.  Thank God.

• Sides & predictions appear not

  My ratings are no longer visible on the thumbnails at the bottom of the develop module.  The color codes are visible.  Under Display Options, to display the odds and predictions is checked.  The photos have certainly scores and filtering by side works.  Maybe I accidentally turned off something.  Any suggestions on how to make it visible again?  Thank you!

  Hover over the limit at the top of the film and drag it to be slightly larger. At some point your information should reappear.

• No rating stars, icons, etc. in the film strip

  I use LR 4.1 RC and recently all the icons disappeared on the photos in the film downstairs.  I see no longer the side to stars, the icon of the quick collection, icon of the culture or something else.  I made Display Options (right click) and everything is checked.

  Any help would be appreciated!

  Badges may disappear if you decrease the size of the film too. Take the separator above the film bar and enlarge the area slightly dragging upward until badges reappear.
