Finally! Microsoft preparing u-Turn on Windows 8

Better late than never...

There is always hope, but I won't hold my breath. Since they have been stupid enough to release the way he was, thinking it was good like that, I have little confidence in their ability to fix something that they did not recognize as being broken at the launch. I expect it to be a half-baked rework to try to calm the critics. But I hope they surprise the daylights out of me.

  • Turn off Windows 8 gestures/charm bar laptop Asus R500V series

Original title: FOUND RESPONSE - SEE below to turn on Windows 8 gestures/charm bar Asus notebook Series R500V

How can I disable the gestures for Windows 8, Asus Notebook (non-touchpad), series R500V? Configuration/program Panel and features I find the Asus Smart gesture file but couldn't find a way to disable - uninstall only which makes no difference in the extreme sensitivity of my movements of the mouse and the computer.

Breath, movement, or simple tap opens suddenly various applications. Not always the same, but the charms/clock/date open often even though I'm away from this part of the screen. (grrrrr!) Although I might be typing a message, etc., it unexpectedly closes the window in that I work and office switches or another program. In this case is often very frustrating and an extreme waste of time.

I see others in this forum (8 Win) with same or similar questions have solved their problem by disabling the gestures. As of yet, I was unable to find how to do this on my new laptop Asus, series R500V, using Windows 8, IE 10. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    FOUND THE ANSWER TO:

How can I disable gestures (charm bar) for Windows 8, Asus Notebook, series

    R500V?

After having wasted MUCH time/gene, the response was embarrassing easy (thanks to the support of ASUS) to answer this question for me.

If I trigger "fn + f9," he launched the Touchpad app to activate or deactivate. »» This information is located in the user's Guide Win8, page 20, which came with my computer... but apparently I forgot. :/

The problem is finally solved. No more surprises the touchpad or boring bar of charm!

Hope this answer helps someone else. Thanks to everyone for the input.

P.S. MICROSOFT: since it is an annoyance this BIG for Win8 users... I recommend that each seller of computer awareness among their clients how to activate the touchpad/charms off ASAP - before you leave the storebar!

If I understand correctly, you have problems with Windows Media Player.

Please answer these questions to better understand the issue:

    1. what operating system is installed on the computer?

    2. What is the full error message?

3 is it so long as you are on Windows Media player?

It could be that the settings are incorrect on Windows Media player.

  • Something in my system turns off Windows Defender.

Something in my system turns off Windows Defender once from time to time, and I have to keep back on.

I am running Windows XP and security programs I use are Microsoft Security Essentials, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool,
Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware from Lavasoft.
I normally have all running at the same time, and with Spybot SD have also resident 'SD Helper' and 'Tea Timer"active.

Any ideas what could cause this problem?

    Hello

As you use Microsoft Security Essentials, the reason for this is that MSE has its own version of the Defender as part of its program.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

    Read this information about it:

"Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/protect/Forum/protect_start/Windows-Defender-and-Microsoft-Security-Essentials/5309cb8d-02e1-40E8-974f-0dcedb9ab9fd

Q: I have to manually disable or uninstall Windows Defender, if I use Microsoft Security Essentials?
If Microsoft Security Essentials does not automatically uninstall Windows Defender on XP, you must manually uninstall Windows Defender through Control Panel of configuration/Add / Remove programs.

    See you soon.

    Hi George,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community and we can help you with your problem.

According to the description, you are facing problems with turning on Windows Defender. To help you to propose measures to solve the problem, I would appreciate if you could answer the following questions:

    1. what security software is installed on the computer?

2 did you do changes on the computer before the show?

You must have security (anti-virus) software installed on the computer.

More than ONE cause of slow system, freezing injuries, programs not to work properly with Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) disables Windows Vista Defender as MSE has its own integrated version in Defender.

You can follow the steps in the article mentioned below and check if it works:

Error message when you run Windows Defender: «Error 0x800106ba»
