Firefox won't play Netflix

Netflix movies play using Safari, but not Firefox.
Using Firefox Mac OS 10.7.5 and Sliverlight 5.1.10411.0 15.0.1,, when I try to play a movie from Netflix, it asks me to download Silverlight again. After that, he still does not play a movie and wants again to download Silverlight.

Problem was solved by moving the previously downloaded version of Silverlight in the trash, empty the trash, then downloading Silverlight again.

  • Firefox don't play netflix

Firefox used to play netflix. Now he doesn't. Chrome plays netflix.
Current Silverlight. That is what it is?

We always try to nail this question, but I'm sure if you run Firefox in 32-bit mode, Netflix will work. To do this:

    1. Exit Firefox. Go to the Firefox menu and select Exit.
    2. Open your Applications folder
    3. Find Firefox in the Applications folder and click on it once to select it. Press command + i on your keyboard. An information window will open.
    4. In the Firefox window, select open in 32-bit mode
    5. Close the info window and restart Firefox
  • Firefox can not play Netflix, but can chrome.

I have Firefox installed 13.0.1 (also tried the beta version, 14 or what) and I can't play movies on Netflix. Silverlight is up to date, everything is up-to-date, but it does not work. It goes to this page that says:

    "Finish the required system configuration".

To watch instantly, yougot to a computer that meets the following minimum requirements:

       Windows
Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Vista or Windows 7
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 7 or higher
           1.2 GHz processor
           512 MB RAM
       Mac
An Intel-based Mac with OS 10.4.11 or later
Safari 3 or higher; or Firefox 3 or higher; or Chrome 10 or higher
           1 GB RAM
       Chrome OS
A Google Chromebook with Chrome OS 13 or higher"

But if I open and try it in Google Chrome, it's fine. I'm on Windows 8 Preview Release, and it is a 64-bit system. Firefox is 32 bit, of course. I don't know what else I could try to get Netflix to work in Firefox. Chrome is very good, but Firefox is my default browser, and I wish I didn't have to spend every time just for Netflix.

Until taken netflix supported by Windows 8, the solution is lie. I must say that we are still using Windows 7 to netflix.

If you are not comfortable with the technical stuff, an easy way is to install this addon:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/masking-agent/?src=search

And in the field, he provides his screen option type in "Windows NT 6.1", less citations. This corresponds to Windows 7.

If you do not feel as still having an other addon installed, you can simply add the information directly in firefox.

Open a new tab and type in about: config. You will probably get a warning to about playing with the settings.

Once you right click and select new > string. For the name of the preference you want to type in "general.useragent.override", less citations.

So you want to type the value, which is the info that firefox tends more to the netflix server to be identified, mine is (at least this is what I'm saying netflix):

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1

    It breaks down as follows:

Mozilla is basic info, 5.0 is the version of Mozilla.

Windows NT 6.1 is your version of windows (Windows NT 6.1 is Windows 7).

RV:13.0 is the version of the rendering engine Gecko used.

Gecko is the name of the layout engine.

The string of numbers after the date of construction.

Firefox is the name of the browser.

Finally, 13.0.1 is the version of the browser.

  • Why the latest Firefox won't play YouTube videos

Everything worked fine until the latest version of Firefox, now I can't play YouTube videos. No problem with Chrome or IE. Firefox screwed up something with their latest version. Problem started on 09/03/15.

    1) enter the config by typing about: config in the address bar.
    (2) enter media.mediasource.webm.enabled press ENTER.
    (3) make a right click on it and change to true, for some reason any, defined as 'false', which makes the MSE & WebM VP9 does not work correctly.
    (4) visit: https://www.youtube.com/html5 and check that everything is OK.
    (5) tries to watch a video. It should work now.

  • Firefox won't play .ogv video files when loading a server. Does anyone have answers will fix this?

I read the suggestions to resolve this, and none of them work. I've updated my .htaccess to match the MIME types for .ogv, I downloaded the binary files and ASCII, neither method works. The .ogv file plays well when you load from a local file, but it will not play seen from a remote server. I confirmed with my hosting company the .htaccess and other issues for HTML5 are up-to-date. Safari and Chrome play the HTML5 videos very well, but not Firefox. Does anyone have concrete answers as to what is the problem. I also use .webm and .mp4 video files, but none of these formats work in Firefox either.

I pestered my hosting a bit more and told them that all topics help here said it was a hosting problem. They double-checked and did a little work on their end, and * voila *, everything works fine now!

The bottom line advice: Pester your hosting service to solve this problem!

  • Firefox won't play videos from YouTube, Hulu, newer version of w/Flash etc..

Despite more Firefox and Flash directions, Firefox can't read videos from YouTube, Hulu, etc.. They not only never load or load and freeze a few seconds. Before I got the latest versions of Firefox and Flash, I did not have this problem. So there must be a problem in one or two of them. Since from different sites, I understand that it is a widespread problem, can Firefox fix this? This is a major gap in the latest version of Firefox.

All works well with Firefox 49.0.2 there after the new update for Firefox 50.0 a few days I can not play Netflix, because Firefox 50 not to download the plugin as you can see on the pictures (no, you can't see because Firefox 50.0 refuses to upload the image). I have Firefox 50 I can play Youtube, with Chrome, I can play anythings I hope the update to come and solve the problem thank you Cariboou

It was very good work. Play well. Please report your last post as solved while others will know.

  • Firefox 7 won't play YouTube videos

Running Win7 x 64. Upgrade to Firefox 7, then YouTube videos stopped playing. YouTube keeps insisting that I have to install the latest flash player, what I've done several times ("install_flashplayer10_mssa_aih.exe" and "install_flashplayer11x64_mssa_aih" versions), clear cookies, restart and all that crap. Firefox refuses to play YouTube videos. Internet Explorer 9 (x 64) plays great YouTube videos. Don't use Firefox more. You've got to SUPPORT your application instead of users leaving Wade. It is also why I HATE the upgrade. It causes too often new incompatibilities when I just want to leave what works, the hell alone.

    The Adobe forum, someone suggested

       * go to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/909550 and
             o download the 64-bit uninstaller
             o download the 64-bit installer
       * close all browser windows, then run the downloaded uninstaller
       * restart Windows
       * delete any remaining files in
             o C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
             o C:\Windows\syswow64\Macromed\Flash
       * now run the downloaded installer

It still does not work. Then someone else said to install the ActiveX Installer, I found somewhere online.

THEN finally it worked. But I still don't understand why I have to jump through additional hoops, which are not explained in the first place-YT says I need to upgrade (even if my old machine W2k with FF 3 and Flash 10 works fine), I click on the link on YT taking me to Adobe, I download and install like lead instructions , but it does not work. Why didn't ActiveX installs as well as the installer of Flash if necessary?

I have tried many other websites and do not see this issue. I have no problems viewing videos from Adobe TV or YouTube for example, Netflix, Amazon and many, many others.

My version of Flash is the last 18.0.0.232 running on Windows 7, 64-bit with IE11. All programs are updated to their latest versions. I deleted my Flash player and IE hiding without result. Also, I rebooted my router without change. I found a site that seems to be a fairly comprehensive test of my Flash installation and internet connection. My three computer configurations pass all the tests. If you want to test your Setup go to: https://www.brighttalk.com/pages/customer-support/test-your-system. I went to a number of other sites of test of Flash player that worked.

If anyone has any ideas as to what I'd appreciate your comments. Some of you can at least try these websites to see if you see similar problems.

    Thank you!

All 3 examples work in Safari, Firefox and Chrome on my systems.

And the videos are not Flash based.

  • Firefox won't let me use Hola! RAM as an Add on more. Why? I want it.

I used the Hola! Unblocker for ever to sites like Netflix, MTV, NBC, ABC, Hulu, basically any network American which is not broadcast its content to the Canada and it was great. Now all of a sudden Hola! went and every time I try and install, Firefox won't let me.

Got the problem solved, just simply never installed a missing component, I guess. I went to the main Web page"https://hola.org/"and clicked on the Firefox icon under the big blue icon "Get Hola, it's free!". He invited a couple of small downloads, and they were installed correctly. Just watched a show of the Australia, that I couldn't access before.

I tried to reset Firefox, but this did not help, or makes things worse! I've also updated for Firefox 34.0, but still it won't play videos!

    Hi AVITYourway,
Thank you for your question, I understand that Firefox reset not reset the error you receive. However, can you please check if you watch the video in HD? Or, if this occurs also in Safe Mode?

  • Why Firefox does not play background sound in Web pages?

I have added a background music file to my website using FrontPage 2000. The audio will play in the "Overview" tab but won't play in the Firefox browser window. "< bgsound src ="http://www.Your-Daily-Income.com/TVS/Audio/waves.mp3"loop ="-1">"

BGSOUND is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox and only works on IE.

You must use other means as an embed or object for older browsers or audio tags for recent browsers.

If you use the type = "application/x-mplayer2" Windows Media Player will be used to read the file.
Without a specific type of the QuickTime plugin attribute will be used under Windows.

  • YouTube has stopped playing my playlists constantly with Firefox, but it plays well with Internet Explorer. How to fix?

I have not had this problem before and played my playlists on Youtube forever. Now all of a sudden my playlists on Youtube won't play at all times. Please help me know what to do to solve this problem.

You can try some steps of basic problems with web pages:

Reload Web pages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from Web sites that are causing problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.
  • Videos YouTube won't play.

I have Firefox 18. I have the last Flash from Adobe installed (after you do a complete uninstall and reinstall). I cleared the cache, cookies, etc.

No matter what I try, videos YouTube won't play in Firefox. I always get the same message:

"An error has occurred. Please try again later. »

If I copy exactly the same link in Explorer (which, normally, I hate using) it plays perfectly. So clearly the fault lies with Firefox.

What can be done to fix this bug?

The reset Firefox feature can solve a lot of problems in restaurant Firefox to its factory default condition while saving your vital information.
Note: This will make you lose all the Extensions, open Web sites and preferences.

To reset Firefox, perform the following steps:

    2. Click on the button 'Reset Firefox'.
    3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is finished, it will display a window with the imported information. Click Finish.
    4. Firefox opens with all the default settings applied.
