Firewall XP turns off

My firewall is disabled

Hi HalJohnson,

-Have you installed any third-party antivirus on your computer application?

Method 1: One-third of security software (antivirus application) will have their own firewall. This can turn off Windows Firewall.

Therefore, if you have installed a third-party security software, disable the same thing at the moment and see if the problem still occurs.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Have a computer without any security software can cause a potential danger to your computer. The firewall can keep the computer worm, pirates, etc.. So, be sure to activate security/firewall software once you are finished with the test.

Method 2: Scan your computer for virus or malware with any antivirus application.

If you do not use any antivirus application, use the Microsoft Safety Scanner to do the same thing.

  • Why my Windows Firewall keep turn off briefly?

I just launched a recovery on Pavilion Media Center TV m7470n desktop my father, which has restored XP Media Edition 2005 SP2. I then installed SP3 and use Windows Update to get the latest updates. The system now works fine, but from time to time, I get a popup notification that says that the Windows Firewall is disabled. The popup balloon quickly and when I enter the Security Center Windows Firewall appears as on. I did a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and I also tried Trend Micro HouseCall and RootkitBuster. None of the scans showed no threat, but I'm still uncomfortable with the ball of myesterious to appear several times a day. Someone saw?

Now, I think the HP software that updates the computer was responsible. I tried to get the updates by running the software myself, but he says there is no update available. After a day or two, however, he popped up and told me that several updates were waiting to be installed. After you install the updates from HP, the problem with the Windows Firewall stopped.

Is there a reason why you have not advised him what operating system of Windows you are running including SP level, etc.?

You can see the Security Center by opening the control panel (Classic view) and clicking on the Security Center icon.

    Check the taskbar

Look at the lower right of your screen a red shield icon bit. If you see one, you can click on it to determine if this indicates that your firewall is turned off.

    Open the Windows Security Center

Even if the taskbar icon indicates that your firewall is disabled, that tell you not much more. For more information, click on the Start button and select Control Panel. Once the window is open, click the Center button of the security. Otherwise, click the Start button, select run..., type firewall.cpl in the box and click OK. Two approaches to open the Windows Security Center window.

Once in the Windows Security Center, you'll see the option to manage the Windows Firewall settings. A green light indicates that the firewall is enabled. A red light means that it is not connected, so you must click on the option of Ontario.

  • Firewall turns off after Windows XP starts

    Hello

I had the virus that has not seen the MS and MS Safty Scanner MS Security Essentials (MSE) malicious software removal (the value always protect).  It prevented the MSE to run.

I downloaded Malwarebytes (no Scan option, no firewall or real-time).  He found the virus, the list is below shows what virus found where.  I uninstalled and installed a new MSE, he says that the machine is clean.

Task bar indicators show my firewall consistantly goes off about 45 seconds after the start to the top, then turn about 30 seconds after the beginning upward.  (I note firewall controls are frozen before it turns off, it can be turned off from the start, just about 45 seconds for the PC to detect).

The firewall configuration is does not (unknown error) while the firewall is disabled and setting off the power before.

I'm running a fully updated MS Windows XP 32-bit, bridge 2005,.

Now, I already tried a lot of things, including about six analyses of various companies.  I suspect there is still a compenent that nobody yet knows how to look.  Is there anyway to get MS to analyze my system to see what is out there, so that they can identify the virus, I think I have MSE reports, but there is no button to tell MS my computer is infected, so I think that there is no report.

I'll probably have to find another XP operating system going offline, but my piece of bridge came not with all drives, so if there are unique drivers they may not work with windows 7 or later.

  • "due to an unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings" fixed but still can not visit some sites and the laptop now turns off the coast on me. What should I do?

I have an Apire one laptop with Windows xp service pace 3. I had to restore it to factory about 3 years ago. Some time after that the sound system began to slow and the Synaptics mouse stop working properly. I can move the pointer, but the left click does not work. It works in safe mode but not in normal windows. I used the Acer eRecovery for correct, but it did not work. I tried to download the driver for the mouse on the internet, but some how it could stop the download. I gave up at tring to fix. Some time in late March or early April, I couldn't access internet and after 22:30. I ran the diagnosis that is provided by internet explore and he said that the HTTP and HTTPS worked but the FTP did not work. AVG later told me my firewall is disabled and there was the possibility to reactivate it and I did. After internet explore stop allowing you to enter certain sites that I wanted to enter, I ran the Diagnostics again and he told me that a firewall client has been the cause of the problem. I tried to control my firewall setting, but had that "due to a problem not identified, windows cannot display the firewall settings". I thought AVG was the problem, so I have unintalled then he returned and attempted to access the firewall but got the same message. I typed in Google MySapce and found this site. I followed a few directions given to others in the thread started by joecarpenter33 and discovered that my firewall has been deleted and Base filtering engine has been deleted also. I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes ANti-Malware and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and tdsskiller. MBAM has found a Trojan. The results of the analysis is less to:

    Hello

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1.

Start the computer in safe mode with network and run a full scan of computer viruses.

To start the computer in safe mode: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true

Run a full scan of the computer with the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Warning of Security Scanner: there could be a loss of data while performing an analysis using the Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate viruses as appropriate.

    Method 2.

If the steps above do not help, then try to scan the computer using Windows defender in offline mode and check if that helps.

Search for spyware and other potentially unwanted software: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Scan-for-spyware-and-other-potentially-unwanted-software

I have been through the forums and tried the microsoft fixit and turn off our firewall. It's the things that we tried-http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Windows-Update-error-80072efe-or-80072f76
I need a few suggestions more...
    Thank you in advance. Kath.

Even if you * know * you just did this - that in that order...

Check your time zone and time are correct.

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

    Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update:
How to reset the Windows Update components?

    Reset.

    Try to get updates.

If it still does not work, try this...

    1. Start an elevated command prompt.
    2. Run the following commands pressing on enter after each line:

      net stop wuauserv

      CD %SystemRoot%\System32

      Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

      net start wuauserv

    3. Reset
    4. Try to reinstall updates

    * Important * When you do this, the following problems occur:

    • Updates that are currently downloaded but which have not yet been installed must be downloaded again by using Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    • When you remove the Software Distribution folder, your download history is deleted.
    • If you currently receive updates from Microsoft Update and Windows Update, you will need to reselect this option from the Windows Update Web site.

    * Note *
if the problem is resolved and you can successfully download and install the updates, you can delete the directory SoftwareDistribution.old to recover disk space.
